For me the stand-out fixture this week is top of the table Northampton at home to 4th place Portsmouth, with both teams hoping to strengthen their promotion hopes. Another important game is 20th placed Hartlepool v 3rd placed Plymouth, with the home side hoping to recover from last weeks 4-0 thrashing away at Portsmouth and build on their midweek success in TheAdded by super_ram

A great start to the 2015/16 season for Notts with a 2–0 away victory at Stevenage, with goals from Curtis Thompson and Mawouna Amevor, though the result was slightly marred by the latter's sending off. The result is exactly what Notts must have been hoping for, with a difficult opening game all is positive. With Notts County now looking ahead to their next league game, we here at the Pride of Nottingham take the time to look at this weekends fixtures and results.Updated by cheeky~k8

After a great start to the season Notts County came back down to earth with a resounding bang following Friday nights dismal performance in the 2-0 defeat at home to local rivals Mansfield Town. Saturday's fixture also took place with 8 teams claiming victories out of 11, 5 of which have managed to retain a perfect start, as Wycombe, Leyton Orient, Portsmouth, Northampton and Hartlepool United claim back to back league wins. No Christmas cheer for Notts in game number 21, losing very disappointingly 0 – 3 to Carlisle at neutral Deepdale. League leaders Leyton Orient were thrashed 4-0 by Exeter City at St. James Park, as Tom Nichols scored twice from the penalty spot and Alex Nicholls and David Wheeler rounded off the scoring. The East London outfit remains first but Wycombe Wanderers are hot on their heels, having moved up to second in the table after they beat Hartlepool United 2-1, with the result being Pools's third defeat on the bounce. Portsmouth maintained their unbeaten start to their League Two season after Jayden Stockley scored a 95th-minute equaliser against Morecambe, despite being a man down. The Shrimps dismantled Pompey in an impressive first-half display, as Tom Barkhuizen, Alan Goodall and Andrew Fleming all scored for the away side. Morecambe led 3-1 before the break, with Gary Roberts clawing a goal back for the hosts minutes before half-time. &Updated by cheeky~k8

Game number 20 for the Magpies and what a roller coaster ride for the Notts faithful. Two goals down in 10 minutes, level just before half time, in front on 71 minutes, concede an equaliser in the 83rd minute but grab a 96th-minute winner thanks to Liam Noble. Notts move up to 14th, 5 points off a play-off place, with a game in hand over most teams, and with a 16 point safety margin from relegation. Saturday’s results in League Two:Updated by Chris

With Notts' boxing day game at Hartlpool being postponed it needed two goals from Izale McLeod in Mondays comeback against Morecambe to salvage a 2–2 draw and just one point from a possible 6 in the weekend fixtures for the Magpies. Notts remain 15th and still 7 points off a play-off place and with a game in hand over most teams but the safety margin from a relegation place has shortened to 14 points. Notts County legend Les Bradd has revealed how he would have never become the club's all-time top goalscorer were it not for the support of Jack Wheeler. The Buxton-born forward played for the Magpies between 1967 and 1978, helping them climb steadily away from the lower reaches of the fourth division into a comfortable second division position. However, Bradd - who 137 goals in all competitions for Notts - admits things could have been a lot different were it not for a one-to-one convAdded by Joe Jones
