So there we have it, Cristiano Ronaldo has won this year's Ballon D'Or award!

What do you guys make of it?

Never heard of it but my schoolboy French knows that D'Or is gold, so is it Golden Boot or Golden Ball? It's golden something.

Basically, France Football's Ballon D'Or prize and FIFA's World Player of the Year prize were merged in 2010, so it's basically the prize for Best Footballer In The World.

Ronaldo deserved it easily, Messi is very overrated. I think the French guy is also, they talk about his achievements but more came after they had the investment and that was one of the reason no doubt behind him joining them.

As a person, I sort dislike Ronaldo but as a footballer he's very talented.

Richly deserved in my opinion.

I don't watch foreign league games but Ronaldo was good in the Premier league. My top player based on what I watch would be Luis Suarez.

Messi is a very good player, he would have been where I placed any bets.

To be fair all the nominations are very classy players. I think it would always between the who who represent Spanish teams, that said the league is very poor and it is nowhere near the standard of the premiership.

I think Messi's injury in 2013 meant that he played much less, giving Ronaldo the chance to sneak in there. I don't understand how someone can be so good at keeping the ball at his feet (although Messi certainly can't dribble as well as Showmuni)

I am gutted, the bailiffs will be round shortly to repossess PTID towers. I punted the lot on Lee Canoville.

I think Messi could have done with making more of an impact, @Dripsey3 made some interesting points regarding the Frenchie but I am openly biased. Though I do think he's genuinely over rated and not as good as people think, I doubt he would achieve much over here for example.

He's also had a squad built around him pretty much :P

im over ronaldo, i have never liked him. as a footballer he can be very skilled. but my problem with him is his behavior: diving, unsportsmanlike behavior etc.

Messi should have got it in my opinion, only his injury reduced his chances of this

I don't see much foreign football(Super is very selective with matches on the telly). What I remember of Ronaldo is that he fell over a lot and Super always saying he should have done better there!

Callum McGregor will win it in 2018 after winning the World Cup with Scotland.
