For years my start of the week used to vary because I worked 4 on 4 off,  and for the last 7 years before I retired, my working week began on Wednesday and finished on a Sunday.

I just loved my work, and even though I had long hours as a HGV delivery driver, it was so rewarding, 99% of the day I was my own boss.

I couldn’t wait to get out of the workplace, I worked in an office environment in the latter years of my working life. Mondays and every workday meant an early morning slog up the motorway to get there for 7.00am.

I don’t miss those days at all and when they decided to move everyone to Sheffield meaning an even longer drive I took voluntary redundancy to work with my wife in her business.

Now we’re both retired and we’re lucky enough to enjoy lots of holidays and as long as we remain healthy we are determined to carry on living life to the max.

It's nice having a working routine, even though I used to have to get up at 5:30am to which I would finish functions at anywhere between 12pm to 3am. I used to fall asleep on the bus going down, always waking up before the stop I needed to get off. Sometimes at weekends, I would catch the 35 bus even though it meant I had to walk further to get home. It allowed me to have a kip on the bus and then the walking would wake me up.

I've never hated Mondays; usually the days feel much calmer to me.

Fridays I tend to dislike because it can be a rowdy point. I hate going out when people start to celebrate the weekends by going into town.

Yet today, I needed a little motivation to get up. Once I was, I'm fine.

This thread reminds me of a song.

I’m in need of some inspiration at the moment. I feel like a balloon that’s losing air and barely staying afloat.

A positive message is something to bear in mind when starting a new day. However, my own tend to resemble this song a bit more.

When I worked on Monday morning the only thing on my mind was Friday.

It's been a beautiful warm day today. Was just the day for some hard work inside

Wife wanted some deep cleans done this week so today helped with taking the washable curtains down to wash. My job as been to clean around the windows and clean the Venetian blinds.

Four rooms done, just the curtains to put back up, so the wife is pleased.

Wood pigeons continue to strengthen their nest in our American Lilac bush. Looks like the eggs are have been laid. Mother sitting in the nest.

Time for tea I think.
