Notts Women travel to Loughborough to play Loughborough Lightning on Sunday 25th August for their second National League Division 1 Midlands, game of the season.

This will be a tough match for Notts because Loughborough were one of the top teams in the Division last season.

Notts had a good win in their first game of the season against Lincoln United when they won 2:1 at Eastwood.

I don't like the American sounding sports teams names making their way into football, "Lightening" - it sounds silly to me. I hope our women team manages to pull off another good result. COYP!

Loughborough were two up inside the first eight minutes & four up after 20 minutes after Notts conceded a penalty.

It is important to reiterate that there is a big gulf between the top five in this division & the bottom five where Notts will be competing.

Loughborough will be probably the favourites for promotion this season to the National League Premier Division which will be level 3 in the women's game.

A heavy defeat for Notts but they move on.

I’m not being negative, but I think it shows the level our women’s team is at and where improvements are needed. Not every team will beat them like that, but it does show how good Loughborough are.

Loughborough Women are part of a large franchise that gets lots of investment.

 They are clearly too good for this league and are one of the favourites for promotion.

Notts are basically competing with 5 other teams in this league on level terms.

Notts just avoided relegation last season but have strengthened the side in the close season.

Hopefully they can finish mid table this season and build from there.

I hope they can keep getting better so they can move up to a higher league. It would be great to see our women's team climb the ranks and get more people cheering them on.
