Who remembers this?

Honestly, I thought this was a more American thing.

At least until I reached year 10, when my PE teacher Mr Wilson pulled out these very old ropes and showed us how to climb them. I had no issue with doing that; coming down is what I feared. If you weren't careful, not only would you get rope burns from holding tightly, but have them on the way down. I'm not a fan of heights, but I move very slowly and akwardly coming down from the top. One of my friends, just refused and I wished I had.

Mind Mr Wilson, it was the same person that told me to get up when I suffered a dislocation to my right knee. That wasn't a pretty sight!

Luckily not! Otherwise I'd probably be dead.

The main memory from my PE lessons in the 90s were the cross country runs. We just walked for most of it, but broke into a jog when the teachers turned up in their cars to check on us. It also involved negotiating a farmer's field with bulls in it - I ran that bit!

I’d rather do this than any kind of running. It’s tough being made to run around a field with no purpose. In some sports, you have to, which I don’t mind.
