I'm giving a shout out for Sam Austin who has been putting in some excellent performances this season.

Sam will play wherever he is placed in the side by Stuart, & he always does a steady job for the side no matter where he plays.

He'll also chip in with a few goals, & get a number of assists to his name during the season.

I believe Sam is an integral part of the squad & his versatility is going to be invaluable to Notts as the season goes on.

Thoughts?

He’s a vastly underrated player who brings plenty of energy and hard work, and he can score too. I don’t understand why some fans are turning against him. He’s a good player and very useful when we need cover. In his proper position, he can really shine.

He might not be as skilful as our other attackers but you can always count on him to press, make good forward runs and get into good goal scoring positions. Plus he can play out wide as he's capable of putting in good crosses. I agree he’s definitely underrated.

I think some fans undervalue him because he comes in and out of the squad, but he's happy being a squad member and works hard. In his natural position, he's great, and even when he's not in it, you can't fault his performance. He's relentless in trying to influence the game, even if he's outmuscled or pushed around. He still keeps going.

He’s a good player, technically skilled in areas where we really need that ability. Crossing, reading the game, pressing to win the ball back, and finding the net are all great qualities of Sam Austin. I think people are always looking for better, but we need a player just like him, someone who works hard and takes his chances to start. I believe he’d do well if we make it to League One. As he gets more time on the ball, he’ll be able to influence the game and show his creativity.

Versatile players are worth their weight in gold to any squad, Sam Austin is one such player and as others have said he vastly underrated, if fans are turning against him then they aren’t true supporters.

Theres a clue in the name “supporter” we support the team and the players in the team.

He's underrated by a fair amount of our fan base, I don't think we can limit what level of ability he has league wise. As, the higher you go up, the more time you get on the ball usually and the less likely you are to be man handled. He does well in that situation, much better than what fans give him credit for. I have seen two opposition players grab hold of his sheet, get in front of him and Sam Austin still managed to get his foot to the ball, only to turn away from them with it.

When he's in the zone, he's a difficult player to play against and does well even when he's played out of position. Play him where he belongs: you will get the best out of him.

He's the hard-working midfielder we have always needed at this level. Remember, Neal Bishop was said not to be good enough for League One, due to his Non League background. He went on to do well in the Championship. I think Austin is far more gifted in ability and technical aspects than Bish.

I don’t understand some of the negative and silly comments directed at Sam Austin on social media. Every season, there seems to be someone who gets targeted by negative fans or those always down. He’s a good player who, on his day, deserves to start and can help us get the right results. You can’t fault his focus or effort, he does a solid job, and that’s all I can ask.
