I thought the referee had no bottle; he easily caved, and I do think Morecambe wanted to hurt our players. I feel sorry for Jodi. He left the pitch quite angry, which was probably due to upsetness, but I felt for him! I actually felt a lot of the harsh challenges; my legs really did sympathise with Abbott, Gordon, Jodi, etc. Fifteen minutes in, I wondered why they hadn't had a card.

When you are that weak, you lose the game, and to make things worse, with our support turning on the referee, he seemed to start to favour Morecambe in a more biased way. I am glad that we managed to score and keep a clean sheet. It was a good team performance, and some of the chances we really should have done better with, but that's football. Jatta toying with Schofield was enjoyable but pressing on the heart.

Whitaker is really coming into it; some very smart play, and he handled the shirt pulling from Morecambe very well. Abbott, unfortunately, reacted, and I think Morecambe could have got him sent off if they had pushed him. Not sure why Jatta didn't shoot when he was put through; I thought we were quite sluggish to shoot at times, but it's a solid win. Derek Adams leaving his technical area and displaying aggression toward Maynard was absolutely ridiculous.

PS. I will read the previous posts and react; it's that I just got back.

Good performance from Notts. Won despite a thuggish opposition and the ref. Whittaker, Bedau, Bass and Jatta the ones to stick out.

The ref is also the one who sent off a NL player after he (the ref) hit the player. Total clown.

Ryan Schofield - that lad has not improved since we had him. As much as a liability then as he is now.

It was far from vintage but I think considering how physical Morecambe were, I’m pleased we didn’t let them bully us no matter how hard they tried. I agree with those have already mentioned the ref (or lack off one!) that the first fifteen minutes was really poor, he set the tone that let Morecambe get away with pretty much what they wanted…

Whitaker is settling in nicely now, again showed some really nice touches and I think there’s still more to come from him. I thought Will Jarvis did really well considering he had to replace Jodi, he looked comfortable on the ball, not sure wingback plays to all his strengths, he did have Bedeau in top form behind him who pretty much stopped most their attacks down that side.

Defensively very good again, a couple of moments where we switch off but we are lucky to have Bass in goal, he makes it look easy at times when it really isn’t.

And I think that Jatta goal summed up just why we needed to keep him. Who else does that for us? Holds off their centre back and turns him, brushes off another defender and then calmly rounds the keeper. He created and finished his own chance.

Morecambe had no real game plan. They wanted to see how Notts would attack and knock the ball around. Once they knew, it became the tactics of heavy fouls and just trying to stop us from playing. Those two goals really cheered things up because Morecambe didn't deserve anything. I think they were poorer than us at their ground.

Notts showed great composure in their win against Morecambe, staying focused despite the visitors' thuggish behaviour and constant confrontations with the referee. Morecambe's organisation was solid, but they were clearly outclassed by Notts’ passing and movement. The Magpies could have added more goals, but hesitation in front of goal saw several chances go to waste. Despite this, the team’s creative play and swift movement were key to securing the win, with Charlie Whitaker stepping up impressively in Dan Crowley’s absence, proving there’s life after him. The team’s reliance on Crowley in previous matches had perhaps overshadowed others, but this game highlighted the squad's depth.

Curtis Edwards had some neat moments, though his overall performance left room for improvement. Rod McDonald caused some early concern but settled as the game progressed. However, Jodi Jones walking off injured was worrying, especially given the physical nature of Morecambe’s play. Their reckless, late challenges made it surprising that more players didn’t come off worse. Still, Notts did well to avoid getting drawn into the aggression and focused on their game to claim a deserved victory.
