In one way, I am slightly angry with Luke Williams for "poaching the family silver"... Could he at least bought Morias for £20m 🤣

Swansea will want our owners next! Just put some black stripes on their home shirts and that’ll be job done.

It is a shame Richard will soon be departing; he’s been one of the reasons we’ve been successful over the years.

It does feel like there’s going be a tipping point at some point, especially if we keep losing key members of staff and players over a short period of time. Yes, they are replaceable but it's not always easy to replace them, surely at some point it’s going to have a negative impact? Or do Chris and Alex just have some sort of super-human ability to seemingly never make a wrong call...

This is really bad news, I agree with Menzinho a lot seems to have happened in the last few weeks and it’s bound to have a negative effect on the club eventually.

 

Richard has done a wonderful job for Notts since he's been at Notts. He's got most of the things he wanted to do right. Notts achieved promotion back to the football league & they sit in second place in League 2. 

And we can't forget the building of the Nest that has been a great success for the Club.

In the meantime, I'm sure Joe Palmer will continue the stability at the top that Notts will need until a successor to Richard is chosen.

The Reedtz brothers may even delay appointing a replacement for Richard until the end of the season.

I wish Richard lots of success in his new position. Swansea have appointed another good one from Notts, but I do hope they don't have any further plans on taking any more of our good people.

Just to be clear, Joe Palmer's responsibility, not Richard's.

The question now is how is opposition data to be interpreted, with Richard's absence and will that affect Notts's own performances?

 

My gut feeling remains that it will be an internal Football Radar appointment. 

I assume Football Radar replaced Richard Montague when he left, and it's likely that the person who I believe will be hired will be in his place. This would make a lot of sense, as Football Radar most likely would have given Montague the platform to do what he did here. The structure of the club shows that we are understanding how to present the data in the best way for our recruitment to work.

Whilst I am disappointed, Montague won't be the sole reason for our recruitment having been so successful under Reedtz's ownership.

I write this not to discredit Montague, but because Football Radar offers a platform where people can learn how to handle analytics in football. The telling will be how he transitions to his duties at Swansea City. Also, he might not use Football Radar data, nor might the club want to pay for FR data or access to it. It's possible, but I think it's more likely that Montague will access one of the many football databases and use what he learned to further his career.

This appointment seems quite risky, as Luke Williams's position isn't exactly safe.

Those who think Richard Montague will not be affected in the scenario of Williams eventual or possible departure, throw more unknowns into the situation. It's quite common for managers to not want to work under a director of football. Williams success will be a determining factor in the recruitment process. By Swansea City's own admission, this past transfer window has been considered a failure.

It seems to me, at least it seems like a last-ditch effort to give Williams more of a platform to succeed. Considering he's made public statements about not wanting to go near the Swansea City dressing room and a whole host of negative comments about the players. It paints a picture of what I can only describe as a ship like the Titanic wanting to avoid an iceberg at sea.

@Chris I am sure that I have read that RM only worked in Nottm 2 days a week. 

90% sure his replacement will be from FR.. Notts need to start planning now for the summer transfer window

 

It's disappointing but we have to get used to this. Staff will see Notts as a stepping stone and I can't blame him for moving. I am just disheartened he decided to rejoin Luke Williams.

He's gone, we can't change it, and just like players, I would rather they want to be here. I don't wish him anything. I don't support Swansea City, but I would thank him for what he did do for Notts.

It's not out of the realms of all possibilities that his first job there could be to tell Luke Williams he hasn't got one anymore.

Swansea are in really poor form at the moment and they lost at home again tonight mustering up just 3 shots all game! 😬 

It's all good having future goals but they can't keep on losing, they are yet to win a home game in 2025. What happens if Swansea get to the end of the month and they still haven't won any of them? There's hardly going to be a buzz around the place and most fans will want something or someone to change...

This is very disappointing news, regardless of his destination. In nearly five years at Notts, our fortunes have turned around and Montague has clearly been a major part of that. This also makes the choice of his successor a crucial one for the club. I think an appointment from within would be sensible to maintain continuity.
