Watching the video you more or less pick up that Martin has a strong personality, presence & lots of passion. Anyone on that field will know that he's the gaffer.

I know that it is in front of the cameras but it appears he is vocal & has lots of determination & knows what he wants.

You can see that he is working his players hard & it seems to me that he wants to have a hard working team that will have plenty of energy & will never stop running.

I don't believe Martin is going to be standing in the coaches area with his arms folded at a game. He'll be a very proactive Head Coach on the sidelines.

This video is just another example of the club wanting it's supporters to learn more about the new Head Coach regarding is personality & character & how he works his players. I'm encouraged by what I'm seeing.

Yes, he's an international and ex-prem / championship player, played and coached in USA, even had the gumption to go play in the Indian Super league. He's not Burchnall or Maynard. I'm not saying they were, but it won't be intimated by our squad of players and doesn't haven't to ingratiate himself. He's the boss.

Everyone should be right behind him, his success will be our success. I'm already finding his passion and edge a breath of fresh air - it's bound to brush off on the players.

He reminds me a little of Marti Allen, in the sense that he uses humour and direct talking to build a relationship with the players. I can't believe some of the players were asking him what he called the sprinkles on top of an ice cream; I've always known them as hundreds and thousands. It's only since 2010 that I have seen them being called sprinkes; even when my mum made cakes, her containers had "hundreds and thousands." 😂

The club did this with Stuart Maynard when he came in, and the contrast between the two is extremely different. I thought Maynard came across as very organised as a coach, but Martin Paterson seems another level.

"Don't be disappointed, just get it right," and "you never need to say sorry to me."

These are good ways to send your message over productively, and what he said to Riley Reynolds is a very vital thing for a young player to do. Communication is very important across the pitch, and if you have been selected to play, experience means nothing, nor does age, when it comes to telling a teammate to give you space, come in tight, etc.

We play as a team, not as individuals, and success can be gained only when the team works together. Also, being selfish and unafraid to upset players is another important lesson, but it's all about timing and the right type of selfishness. There are times when players in previous seasons should go alone and have an effort on goal but choose to pass, and the opportunity ends up disappearing. Likewise, there's a chance when a player needs to be less selfish and make a pass. It's all about trust and trying to make the right decision.

Also, there's nothing against this, but we have to keep in mind that this was always intended to be shared with us. Does this change what we heard? No, not really. Yet, you still need to hold onto some reservations nonetheless.

Martin Paterson came across really well in the video. He seems keen to push the idea of putting in effort rather than dwelling on mistakes. Staying focused and giving it another go could lift spirits, instead of letting past errors sit in the back of your mind.

I’m not getting carried away as I think any EFL coach will look and sound good when you can snip up a whole training session into 5 minutes! That said I’ve been impressed with all of Martin Paterson’s interviews and even though this is just a snippet you can see his intensity and drive to do well.

I think it was Kameron Muir who was confused by the term "hundreds and thousands" but to be fair he is only 15! I’m trying to remember what I was doing when I was 15, embarrassing myself in front of girls and avoiding thinking about my GCSEs at all costs... A world away from training with a professional football team! It’s super impressive that he’s out there with the first team squad. I think we are pulling out all the stops to impress him in the hope when other clubs inevitably come in for him he’ll hopefully stick around for a bit.

Guessing MP is a bit speechless after that performance...the difference in class was enormous....itseemed like we were playing the Fword 1st 11 !!!!!!
