Matt Palmer out "For quite a Period"

Featured Replies

BBC radio Nottingham has been told by head coach Martin Paterson that captain Matt Palmer will be out for "quite a period" after picking up a knee injury.

With some massive games to come in December this is very unwelcome news & could be a big blow to Notts promotion hopes.

Thoughts?

It’s a very big blow Matt will be sorely missed, I wish him well in his recovery but as Stall always says it’s an opportunity for another player to step up and stake his place in the team.

I agree with both @Fan of Big Tone and @McPie the proverbial door is now open. So if the bench regulars are keen enough and want it this is a perfect opportunity for them to shine, make a statement to the gaffer so he has to play them. Good luck one and all.

It’s bad news - we are more balanced with him in the side. Robbo is able to get further forward and he has more impact in the final 3rd when Palmer plays.

Despite Iorpenda’s skills, he’s not as tidy on the ball as Palmer. Norburn hasn’t shown much apart from an occasional 10 min burst of energy & the ability “to get stuck in”/carded!

Hope Palmer is able to return sooner rather later.

If we replace Palmer with Norburn I think we're in trouble. We don't really have a direct replacement for Palmer, so I'd like to see a change in formation Robertson as the pivot. Maybe Platt alongside Ness with Macari and Bedeau as full backs and three in front of Robertson made up from either Tsaroulla, Grant, Hall Jarvis or Kouhyar and Jatta up top. My feeling is Martin Paterson will replace Palmer with either Iorpenda or Norburn and keep an otherwise unchanged team.
