I’ll word this very carefully in case I get accused of being negative. 😡

Are we in danger of losing our manager? I’ve seen speculation that Stockport are interested in appointing him, what is the length of his contract does anyone know?

Are the rumours credible? What do you think?

It's the usual click bait.

I don't think their is any danger of Martin going to another League One club. I do think that Notts need to finalise and offer Martin an improved contract. Maybe a two year with an option of a further year to ensure that it would cost a club if any club potentially tempted him away.

I saw this on Facebook the other day, Football League World I think. I didn't post anything here because it looked like clickbait - when there's a managerial vacancy, they immediately speculate about other clubs' head coaches to get their fans posting and engaging. Engagement is the name of the game.

So I don't think there's anything in it. Stockport have just parted company with a manager who has won two promotions with them, including into League One. Why would they replace him with MP, who has an objectively far inferior CV? Stockport are well-funded and ambitious, I think they're likely to go for someone who has won promotion to the Championship before, who has shown he can take the next step. Challinor was managing in the division above Stockport when they appointed him.

Nothing is impossible of course, and they could undoubtedly afford to give him a big pay rise. But stories like this are part and parcel of being successful. And if/when he does move on, life will go on and we'll still do our thing. That's why it's important to have a sound footing and an established way of doing things.

I think it's quite an obvious link to make, even if their is nothing it in. Paterson is a manager who has just achieved a promotion so it's an easy name to add to a long list because chances are, clubs in League 1 would probably be interested.

I'm not too worried though, he's clearly planning for the future at Notts by having already spoken to players we've just signed and I think he's very happy here. I understand that we are run slightly differently than the norm because you have to relinquish a bit of control when it comes to recruitment and take onboard some statistical analysis. But it seems being at Notts basically gives you the best foundations to succeed, it’s not a coincidence Chris and Alex have only had to sack 1 head coach in 7 seasons (technically 2 but Neal Ardley wasn’t hired by them!)

What have I been saying for years about FLW? I have spent years building an honest, non-clickbait or bad practices when it comes to content management. These are one of the reasons why I am so against clickbait and false articles, and it annoys me greatly that people don't learn and continue to give them clicks.

They are using AI instead of Photoshop to falsely present images, not just of Matin Paterson but horrific generated article imaes which they should be making clear that AI is being used.

I wouldn't waste my time reading their content, although I did after seeing a friend comment on one of their peices about a negative Notts fan and their views on Cal Roberts, I checked because I wouldn't put it past them to falsely use what I or other people write. They are worse than newspapers when it comes to rage and clickbait. They are misleading fans, and I'm surprised they haven't had legal problems with some of their actions. Don't trust bad practices because good people don't do those things, and they don't deserve your time.

I wonder if Karl Robinson will end up there, you know, between spending time with his family of course.

A field where dreams become reality.

Thanks for the heads up, I'm glad I've always avoided sites like that, plus facebook, X, instagram etc.

On the subject itself, to use the words of someone headed for jail soon (hopefully) I'm intensely relaxed about any speculation on our Head Coach.

He's obviously done tremendously for us, but I'll be honest, I'm uncomfortable seeing him described as 'manager', the James Gibbons interview included.

I want the Bros model, and favoured club structure, to be respected, (it's brought us a double promotion) and I want the Head Coach to stay in his lane.

I think the closest thing to 'manager' at the club is the Director of Football. Montague has given us Rodrigues, Roberts, Jones, Crowley, Bostock, Nemane, Jatta, Palmer, Langstaff, Scott, Baldwin, Cameron, Wootton, McDonand, Bedeau, Platt, Robertson etc. etc. That's a hell of a lot of good players, nearly all of which are operating at Level 1 or higher, but recruited at a lower level. It's a bloody tremendous record.

On the coaches front he's recruited 4 since we got rid of the inherited Ardley. Two left to jump up 2 divisions. Even the dodgy hire doesn't look so bad now that Maynard proved himself again at York.

Coaches come and coaches go, the important thing is that the operating model continues. Pato has had a fantastic first year, I hope he stays years to be the one to push us on, but I won't be fretting about whether he stays or not.

Totally agree with you @Chris re FLW

I saw rumours that Stockport interested in Grimsby manager....the managerial merry go round

@theAnticlough absolutely spot on!

This 'model' works so well despite the naysayers - so pleased to see them proved wrong ... again!

Patto leaving? Yes of course if the famously silly offer came his way but Stockport isn't it.

Listening to his interviews he comes over has a really genuine guy, also very level headed and I am pretty certain knows where the grass is greenest.

Stockport have appointed Jimmy McNulty from Rochdale. Was expecting something different to be honest. I hope the rumours about MP continue to fly, as that means he's doing a good job!
