So Didzy has signed for local rivals Mansfield Town. There will certainly be mixed emotions about this at the Lane.

Would you have welcomed him back at Meadow Lane if it had been possible a deal could have been done?

Following the money again. He was always going to follow the money, but it's a bit sad after all the talk of us being his boyhood club and wanting to play for us for free. If he'd just been honest and said football was just a job for him I'd have a lot more respect for him now.

It's moot now, but I'd have had mixed feelings about him signing for us again. He's still got it and scored 15 goals in L1 last season. But he was rumoured to be on 7k a week at Barnsley - we need to strengthen in a number of positions and I wouldn't feel comfortable splashing so much cash on one player.

Especially as he wont play many games

He had a great second season for us but no more pining for Didzy

Bottom line is we couldn't win promotion with him, we only acheived that after he'd gone. In the end we didn't need him to achieve our goals.

There's not doubting McGoldrick in terms of having that quality to make things happen in the final third but as others have said you have to manage his minutes properly and spend a large chunk of the budget to get him. And we’d possibly have to alter the way we play because he’s not really suited to the off the ball pressing Martin Paterson wants.

He’ll also be 39 later this year and you just never know when the legs will go. I can remember the likes of Alan Smith, Gary Jones and Hayden Mullins all looking pretty good at the start of the season but by the end they could barely run.

I probably wouldn’t have said no to his return but I’m not gutted, well as long has he doesn’t score against us next season!

It's a shame that Notts couldn't agree on a fresh contract with Didzy when they had the chance, but the club has now moved on. We managed to get promoted without him. So let's look forward instead of looking back.

I'm sure that Notts will look to bring in more quality players to add to the three they have already signed, to ensure that they compete well in League One. Players that will fit well into Martin Paterson's style of play.

I have made my feelings on David McGoldrick perfectly clear. He speaks what people want to hear and doesn't mean a single word of it. There's nothing wrong with wanting to protect your career, or by extending it. Yet words of wanting to retire here, being a Notts fan and other things just prove at the end of the day he follows the 'gold' in McGoldrick.

There's probably plenty of ex-Notts players who consider themselves a fan who have moved to Mansfield, I have no disappointment with the likes of Neal Bishop.

Just one player, for example, but for someone like Didzy. I find it annoying how our fans will still continue to worship him but call players like Jorge Grant, or George Abbott. They signed for Mansfield to attempt to enhahnce their careers, Abbott probably had little choice but signing for Mansfield won't bring a single critism for the likes of him. It's time we forget him again, as I say, If he really wanted to come back to Notts to help then he would have done it sooner than he did and if it wasn't about money, he would have stayed and been a team player.

I'm personally glad he left, because it meant we didn't have to rely on him and as for him coming back, that door shut when he left to join Barnsley.

@chris you have hit the proverbial nail on the head, what a two faced liar. Honesty is a concept he obviously doesn't understand the meaning of, all he sees is pound note signs. Such a shame he has blotted his copybook. Let's hope he is either on the bench, unavailable to play or we just hammer them anyway 😉 🤑Nice.

Come on you Pies. 🤠👍

Even after what I said, I hope he manages to continue playing but it's risky for Mansfield because his legs could go at any time. It's very rare for a footballer to be able to slow down the clock, and his playing days are nearing the end. This said, it's a good signing for Mansfield because they need a bit of experience.

I won't boo him when we play Mansfield, I have no time for people like this and I hope other fans will just ignore him. It's a bit mindless to refer to him as one of our own, when he means nothing of what he said upon joining us.

I do wonder what League One teams he claimed to have been interested in him, as I doubt they would have paid the wages we did for that single season he returned. It might only be slightly less, but I am inclined to believe it wasn't within the East Midlands area or near to Sheffield. Which leads me to believe we would have offered more just to secure his services, which for a League Two team newly re-establishing itself. A little loyality and honesty would have gone a long way, but he's made his decision and we know his true colours now.

Red and yellow... NOT black and white.

I am truly disappointed in Didzy... but Mansfield is a touch nearer his home. The opportunity to "end" your career at Notts has been missed...no more terrace chants of "His one of our own"

I am worried that we may not have sufficient £ to sign the quality of forward players needed... We need Jatta to extend his contract

If you learn something from every game, there shall come a point in time, when you should never lose... Jimmy Sirrel
