Notts County vs Leyton Orient

This will be an interesting game if the rumours flying around hold any truth. I personally always expect Orient to struggle after the amazing season they had last year, so I think the clubs being harsh on Russell Slade (if it is true).

I don't expect them to come here allowing us to push them over.

They still have several very good players and they play as a team (with a mutual understanding). I do feel that with us being at home we have the advantage. That said, I think the result will be narrow and I don't expect an high scoring game. It should be open and end to end, so with that in mind I will say 1-0 to Notts.

How do you all feel about the situation at Orient? (especially as an ex Notts Manager).

What are your general thoughts on the game? Do you think we will win?

after last season? considering to sack him?

football makes me angry sometimes, he deserves a bit longer. i dont think any manager should be sacked before the 12-15 game period and then that is pushing it. i just hope that it gives us an advantage but i would not want notts to go out thinking lets get him sacked. they will treat it like any other game and i think we will easily win.

from what i've heard they went all out with their budget last year to try and get promoted, so naturally they are going to struggle this year if that's the case, I think a lot of football fans are too unrealistic when it comes to stuff like this. Definitely doesn't deserve to be sacked after 6/7 games regardless of results. Looking at their form and the way we've been playing think we should beat them, 2-0 I'll say

If true, that would be seriously daft. They have a small budget anyway, so why over spend and blame Slade?

It would be nice to see Haynes start, just because of their interest last year. I'd put money on him to score too. Murray will also hopefully start. Did anyone hear how Alan Smith said players was disappointed about not starting, though they was content coming back because they was all happy?

C'mon you pies!

That is the kind of players you want. Pisseed off you can't get a game, but not too bothered, as it's one for all and all for one this season.

I have a funny feeling we're going to take advantage of their situation.

Definitely  winnable.with home advantage.

The Orient players seem fully behind Russell Slade, it will be up to us to make sure we don't make it easy for them. I do honestly think that we will out play them and secure a narrow win.

I'd take a draw. Leyton Orient are a better team than their league position indicates. Home advantage might swing it in our favour but playing at home doesn't suit our style of sitting back and hitting teams on the break. We are vunerable when we have to take the initiative and Leyton Orient could take advantage of that.

My first home game of the season tonight, coming to the game with the parent of one of the Leyton Orient players, hopeful of a very one sided conversation on the way home!!!!

Does the Russell Slade situation put extra pressure on Orient players or will it fire them up?Notts at home ,so I'm backing them to win.Hope you enjoy the match @Northants Pie and especially the journey home.

Couldn't care less about what happens at Orient, although the fact we're even talking about the possibility of someone losing their job in September is laughable. As long as we do our job I'm not bothered. Another draw wouldn't be the worst result in the world, fancy us to nick it 1-0

  • I listened on the radio. The first half sounded fairly even but the second half sounded to be all Orient, though Uncle Colin pointed out that Roy Carroll had hardly been tested. Was this a game Notts would have lost heavily last season?A point gained?

Thought we were awful! Negative tactics at home. Not impressed at all with that display.

The journey home couldn't have been better in as much as the memory of that game was slowly ebbing away, see my other post in reply to @notts-joe for my thoughts on the game.

I didn't really get this myself, I think slow play going forward and the fact we had one striker was always going to make it hard. Leyton Orient played with so much urgency, they was creative with their passing and general made the game difficult.

The defence was fantastic, we would have lost this one last year.

Awful up front mind, I'll give you that. ;)

It's just not exciting football! We need to find another Jack Grealish!! Derry was playing for a draw and we should have been going for a win. It's a HOME game after all !

We need to sack Smith & Jones off and play two upfront with Drissa Traore holding in midfield and get Jeremy Balmy on the wing & start going for teams as even last night when we actually went forward with any purpose we caused problems, our defence looked solid so now that's sorted lets get at teams. Liam Noble was a pain in the arse for Orient last night, him & Traore would easily perform at this level.

i agree we need to be playing for a win.

one striker is not going to make a large difference, its negative to use at home but i will take the point.

I have not had the time to get to many games recently, the passing of a dear relative as kept me busy but i made this game.

Last year we would have no doubt lost this game, the point is a bonus but so frustrating that we lost the lead by a penalty. My viewing angle was obstructed, so i do not know if it was the correct call but referees have a difficult task at deciding. We played way off the leyton players, we was not quick to the first or second ball. Cassidy was like a popsicle upfront, always melting under the pressure of one leyton player.

We did pass around the ball at times but the times i heard the kop call for the ball to switch sides, only for one of our players to try and work themselves out of trouble.

Very disappointing tbf.

Thought we started well, but I don't think we won a second ball all second half, defensively looked sound but definitely lacking a spark going forward again. Not bad, think a point sums the game up as they didn't capitalise on their chances.

Looking at the highlights I think their penalty was a dive as well which is a shame
