Is Curle To Add To Our Squad?

Curle poised to bolster squad

<!--url{0}-->Notts County chairman Ray Trew has given Keith Curle the go-ahead to bolster his squad ahead of Thursday's transfer deadline.

Curle is keen to add to his attack after allowing veteran striker Lee Hughes to leave the club by mutual consent, and the Magpies manager has handed a list of targets to the money men at Meadow Lane.

"I've had a fantastic phone call from the chairman," Curle told the club's official website. "He basically told me 'tell me what you want, tell me what you need and I'll do my best to accommodate you if a financial package can be sorted out whereby we can fit it into the salary cost management'.

"There's a little bit of movement there and we've just got to get the right player in at the right cost.

"I gave the chairman seven potential targets that I think would suit the way we play and are also the quality of player that we're looking to bring to the football club.

"The difficulty now is going to be the finances, but when the chairman asks what you want, you give your top six or seven targets first of all.

"I know they're quite expensive ones but you get what you pay for."

This is gamble but I think Mr Trew has made the right call. It's now even more important that we try to get behind the club, I hate to sound like I am preaching but this could be a good thing but also something that could cause worse debit for us. I hope our fans will try to attend the games they can and by this I mean those who are staying away due to the poor performances. (the one's who on FB say they won't go until Curle has) We need unity more than ever!

Col Chester fans seem to think that Ian Henderson is a done deal for Notts. Only time will tell I suppose.

I don't know, Ian could be okay in an attacking midfield/striker on the wing but as a forward he doesn't feel me with confidence. I would of course back whoever we signed and hope that my thoughts would be wrong as often enough they are but I don't think many of names I'm hearing mentioned are standout players. That might make me sound like I'm expecting us to sign a major coup but I don't. I'm trying to be realistic :)

Seems to be a lot of talk about Chris O'Grady from Sheff Wed., we did have him on loan a few years ago when he was a lot younger.

I'd happily take Paddy Madden but they won't sell him unless it's a large bid.

Keanu Marsh-Brown is the player they're suggesting is making is way to us, I don't know much about him but they say he's talented but comes with issues. :P

Was said to be promising for Arsenals youth system mate, I think Fulham took him on as they tend to do with the one's who don't cut the mustard with the gunners. Have no idea what he has done since then!

United > England

I've just listened to KC's pre Hartlepool interview on Magpie player.  Deals were almost done it seems, with both Scotland and O'Grady, then Barnsley swooped at the last minute.  I can understand O'Grady going to them as their manager, Flitcroft (Hill's number 2 at Rochdale and then Barnsley) would have known him from his Rochdale days.  It's a shame as I think he would have fitted right in to our team.

Madine is now not being released on loan from SWFC, so that's going to leave a couple of teams disappointed, but Bradley Wright Phillips is still available, although I don't know if that's for loan or a deal.

Then there's Forte.  Perhaps if we don't sign anyone permanently we could get him in until the end of the season with the money we saved on O'Grady's transfer fee?
