Championship Embargo's

All could go wrong for our nighbours, they have been given an embargo along with Leeds United and Blackburn Rovers. These are no real surprise, I think we knew for sure that two of these teams would be included.

The problem is how complexed the embargo is and how teams can still get around it.

It also could spell an end to us obtaining the two players sent out on loan by them, they may now be forced to keep Louis Laing and Stephen McLaughlin.

Now one of them would be a bigger lose but both are useful in my opinion.

On Saturday, I heard comments about if this happened Shaun would have to rely on other clubs. Why don't we try to build a relationship with Leicester City? I think all local teams is a good thing to focus on.

What do you make of the embargo? Who said that??!?!

I think this has been on the cards for a while it's the Financial Fair Play thing isn't it? They've been discussing it on Radio Red recently. As far as I understand it the red dogs will not be able to delve into the transfer market but I'm not sure about loans etc., does anyone know any details?

they can loan players i believe.

i heard something about age restrictions and only being allowed to pay 6k for a single player, they cannot have more than 24 players over a certain age, it might actually also be 24 or 23.

i dont really care, if they dont allow the two players to come back i trust greg and shaun to find replacements.

The following article by the Telegraph, also points out that Leicester MAY have an embargo placed on them...

Here, I have copied and pasted directly a passage from fcbusiness, and the full article is linked afterwards...

If a club breaches the Football League FFP Rules and remains in the Championship, that club will be subject to a transfer embargo which starts from the transfer window immediately following the submission of the accounts (i.e. the January transfer window) until such time as that club is able to file accounts which adhere to the Football League FFP Rules. That club will also not be eligible to receive any monies from Financial Fair Play Taxes imposed on promoted clubs. The Football League have confirmed that the form of the transfer embargo will ordinarily be to prevent any further players coming into the club, but may also restrict players leaving the club, if to do so would reduce the squad size to such an extent that the club may not be able to fulfil its remaining fixtures.

Leeds may have found a way round it, see quote and then article...

But should the side be able to bring in players to maintain their squad size – with under-21 players and those who haven't made many appearances discounted from the squad under the rules – the local press believe that Leeds may be able to bolster their side, so long as they don't pay money for transfers and the wage package does not exceed £600,000 pro rata.

It's a simple, yet complicated thing, but in short for us here at Notts County, we should still be able to keep the loanees, dependant on the others squad size.

Oh dear, poor them.

It's not a merry time to be someone wearing red is it? Poor santa's struck them off his nice list, the naughty boys and girls!

They'll find a way around it. Didn't they report in the red rag last week that the Algerian who is earning a shed load of cash but not playing is out after Xmas? That'll free up some cash.

I suspect it won't be enough to move them within guidelines, happy days

To be completely honest the ffp rules are there to protect sky's top teams. They were shafted by city.

The three clubs made a fraction of a loss compared to some teams. Forest made a serious dent in the debt they were left with after the unfortunate loss of their owner. What chance does any team have of dreaming like the old days. Mediocrity for anyone but sky's preferred teams

I actually dont believe its a good enough punishment for breaching rules.

It's not very strict, clubs should be fined a percentage of the money which was overspent and then they would think twice. Clubs get around Embargo's, it just does not make sense.

As always the rules are on the face of it set out to hinder guilty rich clubs but when you delve deeper they are only ever chocolate fire guards

Perhaps what happened to Rangers should be applied in the English leagues, then they would sit up and take notice...
