Hi Folks! Thought I would sign up on here for some good postings with you. I have seen some of Notts-Joe's posts on other forums and its because of this I'm here now! A Saddlers fan for 47 years and have been to Meadow Lane about  8 or 9 times over the years.

Welcome to Pride of Nottingham sadlad :)

It's nice to have you here mate (especially an introduction) as it's always nice to say hello to new members. I look forward to getting to know you better but also part-taking in that very nice forum you mentioned to me. Some good banter with opposition fans! :)

You will notice we've got two shrews, one united fan and a ram. :P

Cheers guys! Thanks for the warm welcome. Nice that you have fans from other clubs too, just like my site. Sorry for the delay in my posting- only just noticed the message which was, for some reason, in my spam box! Well it looks very friendly on here I have to say.  I will be visiting this site on a daily basis and adding to any existing topics and will no doubt soon be posting some of my own. I hav ealready started to change my profile settings so some more info on there about myself too.' Youngster' ? I was once! LOL.

Alan Buckley is the brother  of one of our legends,Steve, who played over 300 games for us and was twice voted  our player  of the year.Oh the memories come flooding back.PS age doesn't matter we just have more experience.

Hi Super Ram. Yes seen Steve Buckley play a couple of times back in the day. My avatar is a picture taken September of last year when Alan Buckley did a question and answer night in a small Walsall pub. The landlord introduced me to Alan and he consented to the enclosed photo. I am a massive and I really mean massive fan of Alan, saw his entire Walsall career and of course he was a successful manager at Fellows Park. I had met him twice previously, very quick meetings but this night was special. I had 4 hours in his company inside the pub and two private one-to- one conversations with him. So bubbly (as ever) and a very humble man. We showered him with chants, goodwill messages and comments and he was taken back by it. 120 fans crammed in the pub and it was a fascinating recollection of not just his time at Walsall but his entire career from a schoolboy to the present. He never ducked nor dived any questions, eg wages at the time etc. He still lives in Humberside and said it was worth every minute of the 3 hour drive to get such a reception. He spoke of his youth times playing with 'Our Steve' and he was all set to join his bro at Derby in 1978 but the move fell through. He didn't get on with Dave Mackay when he was Forest boss before his move to Walsall and he didn't get on with him when he bossed Walsall whilst Alan still a player either.

Hi Steve. Ta for the welcome pal. My second team just happens to be... UNI-TED! Been an armchair fan since  1973- when I first visited OT when City played Walsall in a League Cup 2nd Replay. Been back to OT with Walsall in the FA Cup in 1975, 1977 and 1988. Also seen United play Portsmouth in a cup game can't recall when.  Always kept an eye open for them results wise and since the SKY era been able to see them a lot more. Walsall will of course always be my first club but I have a very soft spot for United. The Premiership crown was always going to be out on loan for one season only so will be sadisfying when Utd claim their rightful place as champions  back come the end of the season. B)

The team finds themselves in a good situation, Alex always amazes me! It's great to hear of support for United, those days of either being a lover or hater seem to of gone for us. Mutual respect is always a good thing!

Thanks SadLad

Cheers Will. 'Sadlad' is a username I use on many message boards I am signed up to. Not sad at all, epecially after our result today! How this name came about...about 15 years ago we had this spell of chanting 'Come on you Sadlads' instead of Saddlers so I thought I would revive it as I'm a SADdlers supporter and a LAD.

Yes this is a great friendly place to post. Were you at Bescot today? Shrews boss Graham Turner was not happy with your display and called it 'inept'. In fairness when you scored your goal you caused a bit of concern but the goal came a bit too late. I don't think you will go down and good luck for the rest of the season.

no sadlad i didn't attend. friendlyshrew and some others did who are not in good moods right now.

i am trying to keep your faith which at one point i would of believed was the case, since i am concerned and fear we're for the drop. all the best sadlad!
