The kids trashed our Harmony 650 two days ago which controlled the tv, home cinema and WDTV live. Most royally cross with them.

I decided to go with a like for like replacement as it would be easier. I went to PCWorld to pick one up this pm. The sales guy gave me the full spiell trying to get me to buy one of the more expensive ones The Harmony Touch at £139.99. I was swaying towards it when I noticed he started fiddling with the labels next to it. I jumped in when I realised the problem. They had two prices tags on it both with the same model number and bar code. One read £139.99 the other read £89.99. I immediately grabbed the model of the shelf and asked they guy to show me the label he was trying to hide. After a while he did so I called the manager over and said I had seen it on display at that price and expected them to honour it.

Lets say the manager wasn't best pleased, but gave in eventually. 

 

I think the poor sales guy is in for a talking too when he comes off shift!!!

 

 

Expensive I know for a remote, but for cutting out all the remotes I was trying to juggle last night its definitely worth it. Plus this one has a screen lock on it so only an adult can use it!!!

 

My jaw literally dropped at the price, but the stories great! Haha!! I would loved to have seen it.

BTW they had to honour the price, if they didn't it could cause some trouble for them as a company. The only way around it I believe is if it's a safe and the end date is included within the label. The times I got things cheaper at places like Co-Op because staff had incorporate labelled products!

Insane!!! but good you for taking the stand to get the lower price, most would have bottled it.

Blooming eck! I have trouble with all the various remotes, trying to find them and then eventually spying them down back of the settee or something BUT even at the cheaper price I would want it to make me a cup of coffee or pour me a beer!

could you not just tape all the remotes together and have done with it?

it is by far an expensive and extravagant purchase I'll admit.

BUT

when you have a complex streaming set up like I've got (TV linked to home cinema, in turn linked to Virgin Box, in turn linked to WDTV streaming box, in turn linked to...etc...) The remotes are ridiculous. It's one of those things that everyone thinks is ridiculous until they try one and then they realise how well it operates all the equipment with one button to complete the whole activity.

 

They operate on macros which are timed to output the correct commands at the point of pressing one button so the whole system can come on in sync eg watching a dvd involves normally telly on, dvd player on, hdmi selection, dvd selection etc... sound type eg sport, movie selection.

 

One press and its all done in the correct order.

Yikes sounds like something Homer Simpson would use, I would just get up and do it myself but I dont mean this to sound patronizing at all.
