I'm always a bit wary of picking up bananas in a supermarket, this must have been frightening for this family.

Yes, we love banana sandwiches too @GrannyPie, my Dad used to take banana sandwiches to work every single day, he would have anything else.

When one of my mates (Dave) started work(many years ago)he made the mistake of telling his mam how much he'd enjoyed the banana sandwiches that she'd packed for  him.He got a bit fed up with them when she packed bananas every day and he didn't want to upset her.It became a standing joke when we all  went out drinking-pints all round and a banana sandwich for Dave.
