I just think it's strange as I would have gone with my pairing from the off to get a routine and understanding between them. I suppose the worry about injuries is the only thing, but the pairing could step out on day one of the season and (hope not!!!) one get a serious injury the same as Spencer did so you have got to take a chance on it.

@hissingdwarf I imagine that Moniz might not want pairs to form at this stage of preseason due to the flexibility of the squad. He probably wants all the defenders to get to know each other whilst still keeping them open to many partnerships, which like you said would help in the case of an injury and could also be useful if ever anyone was in poor form
