What do you make of this decision? Will Gary MacKenzie help improve things at the back and do you have any concerns regarding the amount of first team games he's featured in recently? Discuss...

My mate who is Donny has provided me with some 'insight'. It's safe to say after his review, that the bar is set pretty low.

Not too sure on this one.  Even though we have been lacking in the centre of defence all season, Hollis and Hewitt both earned very good reports for their performances at Luton.  They are still young, so you would think they would only get better given time to forge a partnership.  It would be sad to see their progress stalled for the sake of a one month loanee.

28 days loan and their manager wants him to regain his fitness? I don't like the sound of that.

We will have to see how he does, you can only judge a player by how he performs. If he can be a Gavin Mahon type signing it would be welcoming, as he had not played and required fitness originally after signing. I will despair if its the Tyson, Lita type however.

This brings the question as to who will make way, Hollis or Hewitt? Hewitt is the more mobile of the two, so I can actually see that working, but I don't think that Hollis has done a lot wrong since he has come back into the side. Yes, he will make the odd mistake, but that doesn't get punished as much in League 2 and playing regularly will help to iron out those mistakes (hopefully).

If Hollis is dropped, I can definitely see him leaving in the summer.

I don't really like loans that much and if it's to Get You're Fitness up then that's jus like a reserve game attitude.

And he hasn't played since a month or so so he won't be match sharp Itl take him a while to get up to speed and when he does he goes back to Doncaster.

And we are back to square one also I dunno who gets dropped but if it's Atkinson I feel for him he's extremley Young and has done well since dropped in.

Hes quick has a bit of strengh decent on the ball not scared to go forward or try go past people has done very well and you can see he is growing in confidence a lot .

In fact I'd go as far to say Atkinson has coped with wingers at Right back better then Hewitt has in my opinion

I think with the squad size and players at the club, the managers first task is to see who he can rely on ( in his opinion from seeing them every day first hand).

Bearing in mind that he knows will get no honeymoon period, he also has to look at quick fixes in the short term to bolster where he sees gaps and try to get the team winning matches. Part of that looks like getting a big centre back with experience to come in and marshall the defence for a bit and bring together some reasonably young defenders. So, together with the manager, he can work on the defensive stuff with the guys as a unit ...let them see how he goes about organising things and develop them along the way. So is he 100% 'match sharp' ? well its established he isn't but is he fit to play and do a job? He must be or the manager wouldn't put him in..its that simple.

If its 28 days ? The hopefully there has been a few clean sheets along the way and the defenders at the club have learned a bit about playing as a unit and taken some development on board. Then when someone gets the role of leading the defensive line moving forward they will feel a bit more vocal/confident doing it?

What is shows you is that the manager has no quams about putting folk in if he thinks it will benefit the team...and if it keep Notts moving in the right direction then it can only help feed into a longer term strategy

I really hope so. Saturdays game was a real chance to kick off a few wins including the York game so fingers crossed.

The weather forecast this week for York is patchy but not constant rain so lets hope the weather gods behave !
