Should I start a blog on here?

OK, genuine question.....on the advice of LethalSaveloy, I have perused the Blog section to see if Tarkers Tall Tales should find a more suitable home?

Here is my answer from the "other post"

I think there were a few reasons for me babbling along on the main forum, instead of a blog.

Firstly, it seemed a bit pretentious of me starting a blog..."look at me etc....my life is important".......I am more of a pub guy "You'll never guess what happened to me yesterday....get your pint, and listen to this".....some people move to the opposite side of the bar obviously, hahahaha

Secondly, at my age it's difficult to remember where I've left the bottle-opener, let alone trying to make some kind of order out of my personal blog-space!

Thirdly, as an exile from another site, I was used to everything being on one page, the O/T stuff mixed in with Footie items. It somehow looked "busier", some stuff stayed on the main page for days, some stuff disappeared pretty quickly. I like my desk being messy...it is somehow comforting?

When I joined this site, I thought I might contribute more, as PON does get a bit quiet at times. Being in Mexico, I don't get to ML.....so I try to find interesting things to post....plus it keeps me sane!! I understand that I might irritate a few of the Footie Purists....but I guess they could just ignore my posts?

Lastly, I have given up trying to count the number of times that I have woken up from an inebriated condition, wishing my post from the night before WOULD disappear!!..........."Oh no Tarkers, not the dodgy story about the strip-bar in Kowloon....you idiot"

Having read through a few of the Blogs, particularly @notts-joe........my immediate thoughts are some of the stuff there is actually quite personal and I understand why they are in a "separate personal area". They are available to people who want to deliberately seek them out, but not "general" enough to go in the MLSB pub-chat area. I am not sure if I am making much sense?

All the footie stuff ie "my trip to York".....surely all that stuff should be in the main forum?

My last point is.....how many people on here actually visit the Blog Section?.....I've been here a month and only looked there because of @DangerousSausage comments?

So I put it to a vote......should I start posting in the Blog section....or continue my ramblings in the MLSB?.......be careful, I know where you live!

The whole idea of a Community is to make it BUSY.....get this place buzzing....I used to run/own bars around Nottingham and there is nothing worse than a lonely boozer. Give me 30 people in a bar talking any old rubbish any time....even the odd bar-fight brightens up the evening after a boring day in the office!!

I enjoy your posts, they are fun to read and I do very much like hearing about your takes (I watched you video) and I don't think you would have to start a blog.

My blogs are often personal, though I do plan to submit some different things.

My son likes writing and expressing himself, he taking a turn for the worse because he's started liking Chelsea a lot. Yet I like reading posts, Notts related, personal, general, entertainment or football it highlights the community being mixed and thoughtful.

The blog section generates about 10,000 views per month.

Blog entries differ but once upon a time the blog section had hits almost on par with the home page. Please continue posting in the MLSB but don't be put off from starting a blog, it will be read.

PON will get to the stage whereby it's lively consistently, it would help if I hadn't been busy this week but I have some personal set back and issues which is preventing me from being my usual active self.

Onwards & Upwards.

I think for more a more inter active forum, it's best to stay here..I think the blog "garden" gets overlooked.

I agree

Thanks guys....I obviously didn't want to irritate anyone, though as I stated, they could just ignore my posts anyway.

ps I plan to upload more vids to my new YouTube site (I did two more last night) but it seems to take an age to upload them.

A 3 minute vid is taking 6 hours!....is that normal?

Basically they are just random vids, in the normal Tarkers style.....hopefully a bit witty, funny and interesting.

"English Guy in Mexico" is my theme

@tarquinbeech A touch of the tropical monsoon...hope the livestock have some shelter. Disappointed not to see more of the horse / donkey racing. @Elite_pie might well take an interest..maybe there is an internet site BetElChapo to place the pesos on.Mind you, I've seen more than my share of donkeys playing for Notts in my time :D

Personally I couldn't care less where you place your posts @tarquinbeech,just please keep on entertaining us.

@tarquinbeech Do you know what your service providers upload speed is?

I know a couple of people in Mexico (one is in a metal band) and he complains frequently about uploading. I  can upload videos which are 30 minutes long within an hour, yet the are variables such YouTube's server(s), processing etc.

6 hours doesn't seem normal but you may find it to be different each time.

I gotta fess up, 9 times outta 10 I just lurk around not saying much if anything. I also rarely, if ever remember to check out the blog section.

I guess I'm tryin' to say I'd check it out more if it didn't change.

It was just a suggestion, obviously no-one minds your posts being in the forum and I'm not telling anyone what to do (at this juncture I would like to stress that the rumours about me spending my evenings posing in front of the mirror in my new jackboots taking dozens of photos of myself since I was given modding powers couldn't be further from the truth). I thought you might find the blog section handy for your tales, but if you want to keep it in the forum that's cool too!

I think blogs appear in the activity feed and they're certainly given a prominent position on the dashboard, so there's little chance of them disappearing. Which is either an advantage or a disadvantage depending on your point of view!

@DangerousSausage has anyone ever been banned on here?

This site seems way to "nice" and civil to warrant anyone getting a card!

I wanted to start a thread on Brexit....but I thought I might get admonished.

ps how is the LethalSaveloy Party coming along?

@tarquinbeech I banned a hacker, a spammer etc.

Never had any trouble with a proper supporter, I don't think there should be any reason to ban or warn people - members can express themselves without crossing the line. Heated discussions are welcomed but I would always ask people to be respectful and refrain from them being 'personal'. It's a bit of joke when it crosses that line, the last thing I want is for someone to take the hump and leave.

Ooops....spamming, that's why I got a straight red ......hahaha

@Elite_pie and his sparring partner were busy dueling on a thread, and got reds, I then mentioned that if anyone else got reds, maybe we should meet up over here on PON for a Naughty Boy Exile Party.

The thread disappeared immediately....so I started a new one in the same vein......straight red for "persistent" spamming.

The new mod had a serious case of "RayTrewTwitchyTriggerFingeritis" that week........c'est la vie.
