13 points off...

All being 13 points clear I feel it's to soon to celebrate. There's still games left and one slip or error we are back to the beginning. But the appointment Nolan has definitely helped but like I say to early to sing we are staying up.

Have to agree, I can't celebrate just yet but hopefully the beers are chilling somewhere in a Portuguese supermarket in anticipation. Β I will be on holiday when we go to Newport on the finalΒ day, and I was really dreading finding out that we had lost our "World's oldest football league club" title sat watching Jeff StellingΒ on SkySportsΒ in a bar abroad. Β It would have left a dark cloud over the whole holiday, but thanks to Hardy and Nolan the sun may beΒ shining whatever the weather!

I was nervous until relatively recently but since then Newport have blown their game in hand and slipped further behind. Over their last three games, Newport and Orient have picked up one point between them. I don't think they're going to get another 13 points this season (and neither are we going to go on a 7-match losing streak).

It's good that Kevin Nolan is trying to keep the team focused. Another win or two would not only fully extricate us from the relegation fight, but would also move us quite a long way up the table. I'd love to see us move closer toΒ the top half of the table now (although 12th might be just out of reach), keep the spine of the team in the summer and carry on our revival next season.

Personally, I think I would only keep the middle of our spine as first choice. The neck is looking old and the base is suffering badly from incontinence!

Fair enough @Fozzy, I meant keeping them in the squadΒ really. We currently have a first 11 who we know can deliver results and who know each other, that's a big advantage over a completely new and unproven squad. But of course we should be looking to strengthen, especially at the back.
