Time We Had Ourselves A Quiz Night (Discuss)

Featured Replies

I've been putting this off, mainly because I'd everyone to be around.

I didn't want to do it whilst Tony or Weymouth were on holiday. I also think it will be best to 'discuss' this between ourselves because the last time I did something like this we had to plan around many time zones and it was good fun. Yet here, we are quiet at times and so we need to see when people will be free and open to taking part.

Personally, I think the weekend would be a better time. (obviously a none match day - hopefully soon)

Also groups/teams rather than single, yet this would depend on the interest.

Thoughts? (Let us know below if your happy to take part)

Ps. I didn't tag everyone in, just those who I notice visit every now or then. Just imagine if we could get a small percent of our community online at the same time, enjoying a bit of fun.

I'm trying to iron out the idea in my mind.

Although a lot will depend on how many take part, yet keeping it simple will be vital (hence the discussion). I think teams would be a good idea and if we can gain enough interest, I will open team chat rooms and I'd of course enter each one and ask the questions. I have a fun idea of making a easter egg type hunt, by editing a post and placing the answer (for example).

Yet the quiz will be mixed around Notts, TV, Music, Movies and Era's.

Excellent idea mate, this would be a great laugh and brilliant fun. Hopefully we'll get a few of the floating members involved in this too :)

How will it work? Will you post the questions on a thread and just go for the quickest answer? Or how about a group chat?

Would be really great to get this up and running :)

I'm between posting a thread and asking in the team rooms, I'd based it on points as it seems more fun.

Most likely a thread but a group chat for each team would be added, teams can then discuss and come up with their answers. The team leader could then PM all the answers to me :D

Excellent idea Super Ram!

I'll see if I can get two teams of three togther and see how that goes, a 6 members shouldn't be that hard.

I'd be up for it depending on my availability. I pity the team I get put in.

Can I be in Super's team please.I can't type very fast.

Like he types much faster!! LOL

Tony you can lead a team, Super Ram can lead the other.

I see you fighting over who's got @weymouthPIE in their team. (secretly is laughing - evilly) fingers crossed muddy would be interested which would take us to 4 in our trial. GrannyPie in Supers team, just a case of finding one more lost soul. :D

Lead a team, me? Oo eck! :panic:

Actually I have been a team leader in another life but it wasn't a quiz team, hopefully this will be a lot more pleasurable.

My strengths if any would be politics, british birds, wildlife, 60s/70s music, possibly geography but definitely not films, fashion, celebrities, history, modern music.

Does anyone watch pointless on BBC1? I very rarely get a right answer let alone a pointless one.

Now you see I do like my history and know bits and pieces. My strengh would most likely be sport, or Geography. Need catergories so the team managers can select their teams with their strong points in mind ;)

.

Yes I've watched pointless, very difficult to get a low answer.

The thing that amazes me  with quizzes is how contestants know very obscure facts but don't know basic answers.

On a quiz just the other day ,there was a question about which English team won the European Cup in 1979 and 1980..If you are not a football fan this is a fairly difficult question.A contestant could understandably answer-Man Utd,Liverpool or Chelsea but (and it was a woman /not being sexist) and she mentioned Brian Clough and then answered-Nottingham County.

I dont watch Pointless but I do occasionally watch The Chase on ITV and I've heard some corkers on there.

For example, a while back one of the questions was which politicians Twitter name is @number10downing. OK she might not have had Twitter but that does seem fairly self explanotary dont you think?

Another one was what was the final score in the 1966 world cup final, to which some woman answered "4-1 to Germany?". Fair enough not knowing the score, but not even knowing who won!

James

I'd be interested, but im not the best at quizzes. It looks like no one is good at modern music... so i hope those questions don't come up.

I don't mind on what team, but i can't promise to answer many questions.

Good ideas.

Sorry I can't be here everyday :(

Not a problem, hopefully we can arrange one when you can be around. Your a valued member of this community, so it's always nice to see when you do have time. Don't worry about when you can or can't make it, we'll see you when you do.
