The most optimism ever from a Notts County pre-season?

I have to say, since the season ended, I don't think I've been so optimistic going into the next campaign as I am now for a long time (probably 2009).

New owner, great manager - both of whom really seem to care about the club - and a cautious approach to signing players which is sure to reap quality over quantity.

Are you feeling optimistic this pre-season - and if so, how much so compared to other years?

Yes definitely. However it happens to a lot of lower league clubs. But I strongly believe we can reach the objective set by Hardy reaching the play-offs. Not necessarily promotion but at least reaching them. Happy with how everything is coming together and the fact that we are getting statements like season tickets have surpassed last years before the season even ended is such a promising thing to hear. These 2 months can't quick enough. I shall certainly being attending every game I can next season.

Each season I start of very optimistic.

I felt our first year back in League Two would result in us being very successful - especially after the signings we had made but somehow it all fell apart when Grimsby turned us over. Stevenage away (first game of that season), Notts played some very crisp football and look very much out of place against Stevenage who wasn't poor but we actually excelled against them. This season upcoming season I'm not really feeling it yet, I think a few more signings and I will be able to judge it better.

The new season does seem to have all the chemistry we need from Alan Hardy and Kevin Nolan in order for Notts to be successful, yet it relies upon the signings.

I'm feeling quietly optimistic. Take out our ten-game losing streak last season and we averaged 1.5 points a game last season - enough for the play-offs if sustained over the whole season. So we're not that far from being challengers as things stand. We've got two fairly solid-looking additions for the wings now, but the most important area to strengthen is at the back. I'll be interested to see who's coming in there.
