Back down to Earth with a crash. Bit of perspective for us.

Schofield - 4.5 - Not commanding, too slow coming off his line and you can see his CBs don't trust him.
Rose - 5 - Can't say he did a lot wrong.
Stubbs - 3 - Lost the fight with Newport's big lads.
Barclay - 3 - See Stubbs.
Milsom - 3 - Lost the aerial duel which was where the match was won.

Enzio - 5 - Largely anonymous. A few good runs.
Doyle - 3 - Looked tired. Usual bite and passing not on it today.
O'Brien - 6.5 - MOM - Good touches, some wayward passing. Good shots.
Alessandra - 1 - Absolute rubbish. Gave the ball away constantly, left passes short.

Gomis - 4 -  Anonymous. Touch is dire.
Hemmings - 2 - Demonstrated exactly why he's on the bench. Will stay there the way he's played. Negative attitude.

Stead - 5.5 - Came on and showed how much we miss him when he's not on the pitch
CMS - 5.5 - See Stead.

Base on a mean of 5

Schofield 3.5 Indecisive far too often, nervousness affected the defence

Rose 5 Did OK amidst the defensive carnage

Stubbs & Barclays  3.5 each.... Wish I could pinpoint where it went wrong, just couldnt cope

Milsom 3 Lack of awareness, non marking costed a goal, not putting his head where it hurt another

Doyle 3.5 Couldnt drive today, don't know what was wrong

O'Brien 6 MoTM Driven, set an example, vocal...but the others didnt respond

Enzio 5 Double marked on inside channel made it difficult

Alessandra 1 Hartlepool relegation nightmare revisited. Touch woeful every time, passes were just as bad..should have come off far earlier

Gomis 3 all pace and no touch...rather give Osborne or Etete a chance

Hemmings 3.5 Yes a goal, but little else worthy of note..and a really poor pass cost the first goal

Subs

CMS 6 Tried to make things happen

Stead 5 One good shot

Ardley should have started with the "A" team..."B" option of Hemmings and Alessandra just not good enough, embarassing

Schofield 4 - Not his best game

Rose 3 - Had a shocker. 2 of the goals were his fault.

Stubbs 4 - Couldn't cope with Matt. Decent on the ball

Barclay 4 - Couldn't cope with Matt. Decent on the ball

Milsom 5 - Always made overlapping runs and supported Boldewijn well but him not marking his man, meant we conceded the 2nd goal

Boldewijn 5 - Newport knew of the threat he posed and made sure he didn't get much time with the ball. Did what he could

Doyle 4 - When he doesn't play well, Notts don't play well

O'Brien 6 - Put in a shift and is really good on the ball. Almost scored a gem

Alessandra 1 - Bloke didn't bother to make a run and never really linked up the play well enough with Rose and Jimothy

Gomis 2 - Wasn't really the game for him

Hemmings 4 - Linked up play ok and got a goal but nothing much else

Subs

Stead 5 - Tried to make things happen but the game was over

Mackail-Smith 5 - Same as Stead

Ardley 4 - Don't change the team. If he had to rest players then fine I understand. However our strength in depth isn't great

A reality check but nothing to get overly angry or worried about. We won't play against a team as physical as that for the rest of the season

Consistency of marking for Alessandra!

@ARLukomskijust disagree on Milsom, worst of the defenders when it came to defending

As regards to the goals, hard to see who's fault it was, I just assumed Stubbs or Barclay as they are CBs, but the crowd of bodies made it hard to distinguish, could easily have been Rose.

Another point to mention is that Doyle was constantly beaten in the air, as well. I'm not saying he's too blame, because he isn't the tallest, and Newport looked like giants in comparison.

That's harsh, the CB's was the issue. Nobody cleared the ball well enough, plenty of point black chances and the main issue was the fact nobody held the ball up.

Most of your ratings I agree with.

The comments about the trust isn't right, I heard Stubbs say sorry to Schofield twice from where I sat for not protecting him. Yet they all argued.

I generally agree with the ratings, we were poor all over the pitch.  I don't know if we approached the game thinking we are suddenly a good side, but there seemed an air of arrogance and complacency about it all, starting with the decision to rest Stead and CMS.  Newport wanted it more than we did and got what they deserved.  The man of the match award had to be the easiest of the season, but those awarding it still managed to get it wrong.  When Hemmings was announced it was met with a mixture of boos, puzzled expressions and laughter.  Jim O'Brien was the real winner by a mile.  Not everything he did came off, but he was the only one willing to try things and the only one who really looked like he was up for it.

i dont think notts played bad, they just made too many mistakes and in the wrong areas. issue was the loss of striker up front, next season we need someone who can hold up the ball.

majority of the ratings i agree with.

I just think terrible result and were the players told to not waste too much energy due to saturdays away game. The better players were dropped for that reason i guess but the squads hearts were just not in this game.

Fair assessment I’d say. Nothing much to add except Send Gomis back. He’s not ready for men’s football.

All the players werent playing their best, it was like seeing them all before the transfer window.
