England Vs Germany

The media have been doing my head in with regards to this game, I really don't care if they slaughter us. I prefer to think positive and tradition says it'll be an eventful game. I hope Roy, see's this more as an exhibition game and continues trying some of our youngsters. I know he named the squad well before the game, I am sure the Germans are comfortable within their own thoughts.

Just go out and try, thoughts?

Ps, My prediction 3-1 Germany.

I will watch this game but somehow I can't get excited about it, I haven't read any media build up or anything so I don't really know what to expect.

I just hope it's an entertaining game. 3-2 to England

Germany are leading us into a false pretense, England are playing well but both sides remind me of us. Pretty play upto a point, then it becomes a case of passing back. England look very determined

Haha!! I thought the exact same thing. I've been very vocal about Hart for awhile, as @super_ram will probably add but he deserves credit for the save prior to the goal. He hasn't had to do a single thing, they looked unlikely to trouble us and you'd expect a keeper who's form is below par to probably allow a goal like that in. There was nothing he could do with the goal however.

POOR DEFENDING NOTTS! Oppps.... Erm, ENGLAND!! :shifty:

Well, that was my first visit to the "new" Wembley - terrific stadium and I like the improvements to the surrounding area, tube station etc too.

We played some neat football at times, mainly in the first, half but we lost any prospect of scoring as soon as Gerrard and Rooney were subbed. The Germans were just a tad slicker on the ball and more resilient at the back. They constantly got men behind the ball and snuffed out the threat of Townsend & Lallana - birth of whom looked capable and comfortable. Too many other England players were inconsistent/clumsy/hesitant. The exceptions were Jagielka, simply superb and Cole, who was outstanding apart from his ricket that led to the pre-goal "onslaught". Thought he was superb tbh, best ?I have ever seen him play live - for what it's worth.

Pity about the lack of clear chances and the result but some promising stuff there IMO.

Here's my neutral opinion. If England don't score first, then England don't win. England are easy to defend against. They are predictable. England find it hard to win back possession and when they do, they give it straight back to the opposition. England have little chance of winning the WC unless there's a radical change.

What was the atmosphere like Pies4u?

Sorry, only just seen this. I thought it was a bit odd really, quite noisy but too much fervent chanting & singing. The old Stadium used to have tons of atmosphere but the side where I was sitting seemed to be mainly corporate and/or folks who were there for the experience not for supporting the England team. Too many "non football fans" IMO.

Overall, it was still impressive and behind the goals folks stood up all game and gave it some, from time to time. It seemed difficult to get the ground rocking.
