Out Of Contract Players

Featured Replies

The other night I was curious with regards to how many players we had out of contract, this basically came about after I read a Nottingham Post online article. Gary Liddle stated he focusing his 'playing' and Notts's futures more important than his own, I have to admit I felt this was another Alan Judge situation.

At the end of the year the following players will be out of contract;

Alan Sheehan
Gary Liddle
Manny Smith
Joss Labadie* (Was supposedly offered a contract - No news since)
Yoann Arquin* (Appears to have a rolling 1 year deal)
Enoch Showunmi* (Reportedly set to expire)
Bartosz BiaΓ…β€škowski
Dean Leacock
Jamal Campbell-Ryce
Andre Boucaud* (Signed one-and-a-half-year contract back of last season)

I'm quite old fashioned, I think this alarming and perhaps a contributing factor to their performances. I am not making excuses but this is the majority of our senior players, so might be longer and others might not even be listed. However a contract offers stability to a player who's deserving one and I would hope we are not avoiding offering to keep costs down.

Thoughts?

I don't think Bart is out of contract. I thought we'd signed him on a 3 year contract at the beginning of last season. It is unsettling when many of the senior players contracts are up for renewal but they need to impress to get other clubs interested as well. Keep the players in the team that deserve another contract and try and replace our weak links with youngsters or loan players. It's difficult to sort out contracts when we don't know what league we will be in next season.

I can recall Bart having talks, though nothing a little further to my knowledge. You may be right Muddy :)

Sheehan deserves a contract for sure, there's others too.

I would personally keep Alan Sheehan, Gary Liddle, and possibly Dean Leacock if he picks up over the rest of the season. And ofcourse Bart IF his contract is up, but I'd be surprised if he dosen't have interest elsewgere. The rest - good riddance frankly.

Manny Smith & Enoch Showumni do give everything when they do play, but the problem is they're both ridiculously injury prone, and no disrespect to them but we cant afford to pay players to sit on the treatment table for 30 games a season.

As for the others - they're either useless, have an appaling attitude, or a combination of the two

Let the deadwood go!!! We are carrying too many can't be arsed, bad attitude, sick notes, or lets be honest players that are either too crap skills wise, or disciplinary liabilities.

I would gladly contribute towards the bus fair for Laberdie, Showumni, Leacock, Arquin and if you throw Bell and Fotheringham into the ring then I will see about a silver service coach.

Alan Sheehan

Gary Liddle

Enoch Showunmi* (Reportedly set to expire)

Bartosz BiaΓ…β€škowski

Andre Boucaud* (Signed one-and-a-half-year contract back of last season)

I would keep these - the rest can go.Β

I hope we are not going to get rid of loads of players again at the end of this season. I know we've not played very well this season but if can't get rid of more players as a money saving scheme. I would hope we can sign some contracts and hope they also start playing to their full potential.

If we are going to get players in that would actually play to their potential i wouldn't mind, but i would mind if they just replace them for other cheaper players that don't do much for the club. Obviously some go and some stay... thats normal. We shouldn't have to rely on loan players though.

I think the current league position makes it look like we need a massive change of personnel but for me we have had too much change at our beloved club from top to bottom hence why I think that we need to try & keep the like of Leacock. Liddle, Sheehan, Smith and build around these types of players. Thankfully Bart is contracted until June 2015 and for me it is now that we should be trying to extend that deal. Haber & Haynes are looking like they have the making of a good relationship upfront although I do believe Haynes will be off in January, if this is the case then we should play Murray with Haber up top.

haynes might do better when hes settled and been here awhile, i hope he would want to stay with us if we go down. we wont attract many better than him :)

not really fussed about haber myself.

The thing with haber is he gives us an extra dimension, Haynes can't do it alone whereas Haber can,Β
