Was just checking the Notts site for the fixtures and lo and behold a new signing!

https://www.nottscountyfc.co.uk/news/2020/september/knowles-signs-100920/

A young striker on loan from our second-dearest neighbours (not sure how I feel about that). Very young and little first team experience, but you could say the same about last season's loanees and they did pretty well.

A proper old school name too...

I do wonder what goes through Notts' head sometimes.

Signings going well. Fans back on side, really engaging everybody and a good relationship between all parties. 'What can we do to piss them off a bit? Lower their expectations a tad?' 'Loan an 18 yo f*rest reject that couldn't get into a piss poor Mansfield side that were close to the relegation spots of L2?' .... 'Brilliant'.

Been an exciting transfer window thus far. That latest signing is a joke though.

Mansfield... ???? Na but seriously I can see why some fans are a bit shocked with this one. I am a bit too, but for me it's more to do with the experience (lack of) more than where he's come from. He’ll be starting as 4th choice striker, fair play he talks about coming here to play regularly but I feel like it’s a big step up from the academy (as we’ve seen with some of our players).

If he plays well, scores some goals and looks the part - great! But if it doesn’t work out it really won’t look good, why give a chance to a Mansfield player but not ours? Are they really that bad?

Makes it worse that Colby Bishop is playing in L1 and Montel Gibson in L2. Two strikers that 'weren't good enough' for us but now play in higher leagues than us.

I don't get what Mansfield get from this either. Seeing as they want him to gain experience in a lower league, why send him to a team that will consider him fourth choice, and might play a formation (at least part the time) with only one striker?

I honestly don't care that he's on loan from Mansfield, thing for me, is he better than any of our own youths in which we have easily discarded? The ball kicker for me is if Neal Ardley actually plays him, and he does nothing.

It would be extremely annoying considering the prospects we've lost.

That said, he looks like a bench warmer and someone who might have something about him. The strength of the squad now, I don't see him playing much and that would make somewhat sense as to why we've brought him into the team.

A field where dreams become reality.

It's a packed schedule so you would expect this lad to get a few games under his belt. Seems to have a good attitude so I'm confident he won't be found wanting.

Good luck to him obviously. I can understand if some of our youth players find it demoralising when a player from another team (and one at the bottom of League Two at that) is fast-tracked into the first team ahead of them - he'll need to be a class better to justify that decision. The proof of the pudding will be in the eating.
