Poor Mrs T. Please tell her I hope she feels better soon. I dislocated my ankle play fighting with Jake during my holiday on the beach, and from previous times with my knee. I know the sand is an unkind place to hurt yourself.

Jake Tabor the Most wanted striker
What are the chances of a team like us actually playing someone like him? It seems slim. I liked Lewis Knight, but we never really played him in his natural position. We didn't really play him at all, and when we did he was thrown on in a game where the opposition was clattering our players and he got took out. His injury did impact him, but not as much as the refusal to actually give him a chance did. Honestly, he ended up being better than Junior Morias, even though both of them are really fast. Knight could be one, if not the fastest footballer I have ever seen. Good video on Jake Tabor's mind, I do hope he makes it to the EFL and it's good to see him stick with his team during the season.

The appointment of Dr David Rhodes as Director of Performance.
I just meant that Jack Wheeler didn't need the wet sponge. Just the magic in his hands, and the experience he had from being such a good coach. 👍🏻

The appointment of Dr David Rhodes as Director of Performance.
@gtownjohnno, Jack Wheeler didn't even need that from all the stories I have been told.

Brian Priske announced as Head Coach!
@liampie, he was one of the rumour mill head coaches linked to us. His experience isn't all that bad, but ending up in England and in League Two seemed unlikely. EFL experience would be very nice, but I wish him well with his new role.

The appointment of Dr David Rhodes as Director of Performance.
@NiftyNick, we have to look to the future now. If lessons are being learned, then it's just going to help elevate Notts to the next level. With players who have an injury history, we might be able to get the best out of them more. Individuals like Jodi Jones and Lucas Ness come to mind.

The appointment of Dr David Rhodes as Director of Performance.
It sounds like it's a good thing, as I have mentioned, I believe we could be much better in the fitness department, something we seem to have lost with Luke Williams. Not that I felt we were miles away, but some players tended to appear like they struggled in spells. It also makes me wonder if the club feels certain players haven't quite been at the grade they went in terms of fitness when signing. Will Randall seems to stick out as a player who never looked exactly what was advertised, we will have to wait and see.

Brian Barry Murphy, now Plymouth Argyle favourite for their head coach
There are some good options being rumoured. I don't think the club are rushing to appoint the next head coach for various reasons, but I am quite happy to sit back until the official announcement is made. Usually, it's never who you want, but I would like to think Notts are exploring all promising options. @Piethagoram, what about Colby Bishop returning home? He's been released by Portsmouth. (I believe. I probably should ask, as it goes off-topic)

Tobias Solberg : Odds-checker 1/2 to become Notts Head Coach
How does the work permit aspect work with managers? The EFL and FA don't seem to be very clear about the rules appointing coaches/managers outside of the United Kingdom.

Have we become too predictable?
I'm not a big fan of the term "plan B", but I know what people mean by it. Football shouldn't be based on rigid tactics all the time, there should be a general approach, and tactics do generally fall within a system. I just think, if managers or head coaches have tactic A, tactic B, tactic C etc. It takes some adjustment switching, and whilst I would say Stuart Maynard didn't show much understanding of turning games around. I don't think he ever really had the understanding of how being less formal can make the opposition ask questions of how we would play. It would be nice if we could switch formations much easier, based on the starting XI and the players available on the bench. As such, this might be a fallback plan, but I would hope our next head coach can read how games are actually going. Usually, there are signs that we will concede. It starts with pressure in controlling the ball at the back and playing it straight to the keeper the moment a player can't make a forward pass. It would be much easier if instructions were being given, and the moment one of our players is struggling in-game, thoughts are made as to how to overcome it. Some managers sit back, hoping the quality will prevail, but a lot of people say we need a leader on the pitch. I think it starts with who is in charge of the squad. At our level, every coach will have different abilities in areas of their management style, but I do think a better understanding of how a game is going would help with the mistakes we can make and the lack of concentration. Another point, I would have thought a manager would think about why we don't score from corners often, something which comes from the training ground.

pon and the new site
Yes, v5 was built from the ground up, which is why there are a lot of issues with features coming from addons being difficult. Plugins are removed, in favour of everything to be applications. The good thing is a lot of hooks are returning, but some will never return. Between major versions, I do try to freshen things up. I spent a while loving the previous theme, but I wanted to try something new. I'll look into the tablet side, if you are able to tell me the model and Android version? It's possible it could be related to the browser, but provided that is still being updated, there shouldn't be much reason for the site to be broken completely. Next time I am at my dad's I will check one of the devices which still works that I cycled down to him (before we brought him a newer device because they were really past it). 🤣 It is important I try to see what is causing it, though. I am thankful, there's no "but" in there. 😁

Have we become too predictable?
I think it's fair to say we are somewhat predictable because how many times do we try to force the play by passing it back, only to focus on going down the left or right wing? Usually the left side, at the expense of the other wing-back becoming a spectator for key parts of the game. I believe it was our final game against Doncaster, when Stuart Maynard finally brought on Will Jarvis, but at the time everything was being focused on coming from Jodi Jones. The spells on the ball that Jarvis got, it seemed like we could create something different, and I don't mean for this to be a criticism of Jodi, as he does superbly well and is skillful enough to bring the quality needed to change the game or create a goal-scoring chance. My point is the predictability. When defences know we won't use the opposition flank, we won't try to attack through the centre of the park. More frustratingly, we insist on trying to tap the ball in by walking into the goal line. Very few efforts come from outside, but a lot of the best goals last season came from a pure bit of magic and a chance from distance when the opposition don't expect it. There's no reason why at times we can't try to mix things up, but I do think teams start to see where the danger is. Then it takes us to have a real quality moment to break teams down, rather than forcing them to make mistakes by switching things up.

pon and the new site
In 4.5, or maybe 4.3, there was a link on the forum index. That would change based on what the default stream was, but a lot of things have been streamlined. There are elements I miss, but hooks are returning and there's always the hope that they'll be able to be returned. My favourite change is the text editor. The previous editor was CKEditor 4, and it was very clunky. When it was first introduced, it was outstanding for the time, but things have become a lot more lightweight and better in terms of functions. I am still working on areas, but I am happy with how far we have come. I'm just glad there weren't any major, major issues. It went remarkably well. When I upgraded a test environment, I encountered heaps of issues, but that is to be expected with betas. I'm always open to feedback, and I only want members to be happy.

Weekly chat Monday 2nd to Sunday 9th June
I had an issue with my laptop, so I decided to reinstall the latest update to Windows 11. It made no difference, so I undid the update. Same issue, I had already checked online for any fixes, and had roamed the Microsoft support forums. It turns out my antivirus, Kaspersky, had some weird issue, and uninstalling it resolved the issue. Never before have I had issues with an app randomly preventing Windows from operating correctly. I only troubleshooted it because I had turned my internet off. If I hadn't done that, I probably would have had to freshly install Windows 11. Whilst that was going on, I watched a couple of boxing matches on Channel 5. There's something wrong with modern boxing based on what I witnessed.
