Automatic Promotion: Is it still possible?
If Notts can beat Colchester, and the results are lucky to go our way. It could go to the wire like I had originally thought. However, I do think we will end up in the playoffs. I do worry, that a defeat will see us slip further down and make the final game of the season a lot more nervous. At one point it looked like it wasn't going to end like this, but the league has become very tight and many are fighting for the playoffs. Salford for example have really fought to climb up, as they did look unlikely to reach the playoffs earlier in the season. Now look at them, we need that fight and drive to end this well.

Paterson to Barnsley speculation?
You can never tell in football, we have seen managers move on because they have done well and only for to turn out to be a disaster of a decision. He came here having something to prove, his last club's supporters didn't rate him and helped spread fear amongst our support. I would hope he would see we are proving to be a good fit, and he's well supported. He has a chance, much like Luke Williams and Ian Burchnall. It's closer to Williams in truth, he played for Burnley and has connections there and I don't tend to think it works but doing well will attract interest. It beats having several managers being sacked, and if he does go maybe we'll get nice compo.

Weekly Chat Monday 20th to Sunday 26th April
@Fan of Big Tone sorry to read this, please do make sure recovering is of the highest importance. Today, I had a good chat with Mark (C) as he finished off cooking two meals for @super_ram, who is halving them because the portions are very generous. Super enjoyed eating his meal; he even allowed me to do it for him as he rested. I don't know what has gotten into him, allowing me to help. On top of this, I repaired his power port to his laptop. I hope he starts to feel better, and manages to get on a bit more, but his health does come first. Back to fixing and improving PON, and releasing some of the apps I make. Every little helps, PON.

Announcement: Improvements, and New Features - 21st April 2026
Apologise, I sold two copies of one of the apps I have released and there's an annoying bug. I have no idea what exactly it is, but I am doing my best for the person that trusted me enough to buy what I have made. When you don't have much to go on, you have to review each line. Then try to fix it, by strengthening what looks weak. I'll be staying up again to fix the issues here.

I'll tighten it up and ensure the behaviour avoids doing that.

I forgot the 'All Activity' by default can be changed to the default feed, but I have replaced it and not corrected the URL. Since the feed can be configured based on the default, the URL works with both. I need to change it to the all acivity point. I'll patch it momentarily, Tone.

I will look into it, and add the unread button. I'll pinch Jake's iPad when I get hold of him, seems strange it would only affect IOS devices. I just wanted to make sure what you meant. 👍🏻

@Fan of Big Tone All activity in the mobile menu at the bottom of the screen goes to the unread content? I can't reproduce this at the moment. I have tried it on my laptop, in minimised mode, using the inspect device toolbar, as well as on my current and older phones.

Touch wood, you can now customise the mobile navigation in the footer of the site to your own personal liking. https://prideofnottingham.co.uk/settings/mobilenav/ Please use this announcement topic to request additional links. I have only added two custom ones but there might be areas you would like to see. I can most certainly make it happen, but I don't want to assume because it could become bloated. This also avoids me over adding, on the assumption I am giving options when in fact it just creates more options. If you have any suggestions in general, please proceed to sign into our status page in order to make a suggestion, which members can vote in favour of. https://status.prideofnottingham.co.uk/suggestions/ Doing it this way, means that I can promote the status page which will be online, as it's not hosted on PON's dedicated server. Meaning if an incident occurs where we are offlne, or I am just taking a nap again, at least you will know I am working on something and not to fear the worst. I have used the same text editor as here, TipTap which is a very powerful free to use lightweight script. Whilst some inspiration has been used to make it seem familar, I have kept it to a more standard UI/UX with my own touch flare. Connecting your account from here to the server page is secure, it uses inbuilt API and no password is transferred at all. At some stage I will create a widget to show and allow voting to be made here, but the suggestions will remain outside to encourage those who wish to check the status of the Pride of Nottingham service. I will ensure to keep updating, and log events because I feel strongly about keeping the community well informed. Please remember, in the event I need to share something privately, you will need to login using your PON account on the status page. Implementing a private means of sharing what could be sensitive is very important, and whilst this is part of my continued effort for further transparancy, some events may need to be prviate for security reasons. @Robbie: Please take a moment when convenitent for you, and test the last match discussion to see if you are able to bypass the flood control. Many thanks for your continued dedication to assisting the site with this, and the PON Man of the Match. It is greatly appreciated, and well deserving of this acknowledgement. I have also re-introduced notifying members who have been named in the site leaderboard. @Robbie, @Fan of Big Tone and @theAnticlough please can you keep an eye on tonight and tomorrow to see if you get a notification about being named, or more importantly if you have already. I am still actively working on new and other improvements to existing features; my aim is to optimise all the resources I can to make the site performance even better. Resources made by one of my wonderful friends, will be requested to them on if they would implement improvements I may find. Any not being actively sold or remain custom will be carried out by me. Thank you, to each and every one of you for the amazing support. I appreciate your feedback! PS. Stay tuned for further improvements, and a more focused effort to become more organised. YOU PIES!

What’s everyone listening to?
I am actually considering buying an MP3 player, or an old Apple iPod. You can highly customise certain models, and I know you can other software outside of iTunes or whatever it is which is slow and painful on Windows. My music is all over the place, and I miss Absolute Radio, but it became quite poor after awhile. 80s music is my favourite. I do like the 60s and 70s, 90s and some 00s. Modern music today often features more spoken elements or relies on auto-tune. Lyrically they tend to be weak too. I believe most artists have ghostwriters who sit on the toilet, humming lyrics to themselves as they type on their phones. There are some acceptable, some rare decent but I feel and hear the massive decline in quality.

Fans That Abuse Season Ticket Prices
I find the stewards to be warm and lovely people. I have had fans point out issues, and say x has happened but I can't go on what others have experienced only myself. Some of the turnstyle staff only do it for one reason, others are friendly and efficient. Unfortunately there are always people who think that a position gives them power over others when they do not. @KingofCounty I am sorry you have experienced that, it's not the right way to go about it.
-
Fans That Abuse Season Ticket Prices
Personally, I believe it starts with when you purchase a ticket. I think it's always going to be difficult to resolve the misuse but I don't believe it should affect anyone else that is uninvolved. I think it's unfair of the club to charge those who turn 18 in that season a higher price because of it. That is on par with people who under pay them, as they will be getting twice the amount even though the under 18, is 17. Many years ago, you paid the price of their age at the time and that is far more sensible. The club should also try to understand why some fans do it, as I would imagine it comes down to not having the money. Rather than they not wanting to pay, I am sure each case is different, and I am aware of some people who would underpay away teams by claiming x, y and z. Yet that's not acceptable, but the bigger issue is the price of football these days. Notts needs to make greater efforts to prevent misuse while ensuring that others are not unfairly targeted. I think some people who claim to be disabled are quite scummy, and I wonder why it wouldn't be a case of fraud. At the end of the day, there's always a fairer, more human approach.
-
Fans That Abuse Season Ticket Prices
I should make it clear, that it's not just season tickets. You get people who try to under pay, by purchasing match day tickets outside of what they should. Such as an over 18-year-old, might try to get in for the price under that point, buf at the same time the club charges you the price of an 18-year-old when the child is 17, and their birthday falls outside of the season. That for me is the club pulling the same scam as those fans who underpay. I know this, because my son had to pay more when he was 17 and I tried to point out that it was fair due to him still being 17-years-old when the season had ended. I do not like it. I don't like seeing fans try to save a few quid by scamming a cheaper ticket. The idea is that this is the same for bus passes and other long-term events. Those are all year round, not for the duration of a football season. It's recently come to my attention that the club has cracked down on people misusing their season tickets. This tends to fall always nearer the end of the season bizarrely. I've been told by one fan who has been made to cough up the full price of his ticket, as he claimed to be disabled. However, this is unfairly effecting others with disabilites that are unseen and not that easy to detect. Although, my walking isn't exactly perfect. My question is, how do you believe the club should handle the abuse? Do you think it's fair to tarnish everyone with the same brush? Do you believe that everyone who appears to be over 18 should be questioned as the former regime did, or in line with the common saying 'Spanish Inquisition'? Is there a more simple approach? Such as vetting before, and making sure that the wrongun' don't get in?

Apologise for the length of the site's offline duration: I ended up falling to sleep right at the moment I should have installed final patches and activated the site back to being online. There's still a couple of bugs, which I am in the process of getting solved now but the sites open again.

Announcement: Improvements, and New Features - 21st April 2026
Hello, everyone! 👋🏻 I have been busy implementing some custom changes to the Pride of Nottingham site, and I will be taking a few moments here to discuss these improvements. To improve the moderation teams access to the moderation tools, I have built PON HQ. A feature-rich application brings everything that a team member would need, such as the ModCP and various happenings across the site, to even member birthdays. This is in the early stages, but it will become more powerful, and allow for the team to spend their time effectively to help the site. I have also coded a resource which will allow members to see the word and character count when writing in the text editor. Via your Account Settings, you can even turn on error detection, such as grammar and spelling. Thiis improvement isn't aimed at anyone, nor is it an effort to become the grammar police. It's simply been added to give people the option to spot issues before submitting a post if they wish. You can even turn on a setting which will tell you, but allow it to be your decision if you choose to post still or go back to editing. Look for the TipTap Writing Assistant - https://prideofnottingham.co.uk/settings/links/ Match Discussions will now enable our volunteer matchday correspondent to provide live updates without triggering the flooding control. Those who visit PON via their mobiles might be pleased to see I have even added a means for you to customise what shows in the mobile navigation menu. If you remove key elements, they will trigger changes to the navigation menu so you won't lose out completely. For example, messages, notifications and the search can each be replaced with a different button but they will still show in the navigation menu. At the moment I have created custom buttons for the dashboard and topic feed, please comment below any which you would like to see. To customise your mobile footer navigation you can do so here - https://prideofnottingham.co.uk/settings/mobilenav/ I will soon be announcing our brand new partnership scheme, aimed at working with local companies and businesses. Full onboarding has been completed, along with a quick overview of the benefits. So, if you know someone who owns a business that would be a good fit, please do help spread the word. PON is very keen to partner up in a meaninful way whereby it's more than just a one off promotion but that they become part of the Pride of Nottingham family. Five spaces are available. There is a discount for those who sign up for 2 years. All partners get access to real-time stats, their logo in the footer and various parts of the site. Included in social media, video content which I am keen to bring back next season. They have their own partner page to highlight their role in our community! + much more. I have several other applications in the works which will bring more userability, and some I hope members will spread the word about. There may be bugs, but I will elimate what I find and what is reported ASAP. Please do help mention anything that you notice, as this means it will likely be caught and fixed quicker. This season hasn't been my best. I fell short due to illness and personal reasons, but I am getting geared up for the remaining games, and what next season brings. You post suggestions by connecting your PON account to our status page, click the suggestions tab - https://status.prideofnottingham.co.uk/suggestions/ Many thanks! Chris

What’s everyone listening to?
I usually have YouTube on during the day, but I am tired of it and I can't find myself interested in watching any films. So, lately I have been listening to YouTube Music. Right now Bryan Adam's in on with Mel C - Baby When You're Gone (classic version). Before that, Bon Jovi - Right Side of Wrong, The Feeling - Fill My Little World, and Phil Collins - Against All Odds (Take a Look at Me Now). So, what is your go-to track? What are you listening to? How are you enjoying your music? Let's discuss and learn something new about each other.

Who's your Man of the Match v Barnet?
I am not posting this to say I am right, we all see things different and interpert games differently. Although re-watching the first half, i still believe Jacob Bedeau played the best role in defence and Lucas Ness, although he loses the ball a few times and makes weak passes he still defended better than Rod McDonald IMO. McDonald's first half is noted good and bad below, as I have just re-watched the first half.
-
Who's your Man of the Match v Barnet?
I don't think any other defender caused so much stress at the back, his clearing seemed thoughtless and the amount of poor passes he made I ended up losing count. I did notice his leg strapped up with tape, so maybe he's playing through an injury but he was poor all through the half he looked a major liability, and none of his headers were directed to safty but the Barnet players.

Automatic Promotion: Is it still possible?
You know we tend to lose hope for a burst of good results to change our mind, then a run of form in the opposite direction tends squash all hopes. I think if Cambridge United win on Tuesday, then automatics go out the window. I can't see a means to get back into that picture with two games, we are relying too heavily on other results and our own for that to be realistic. The issue is, if Grimsby Town win then it could put further pressure on us to even reach the playoffs and in our current form even that is questionable. As fans, we should ignore the bad results and support the team for the next two games. Then try to enjoy reaching the playoffs, but I think our form needs to improve in these remaining games, as does the level of performance. Defend like we are right now, it's going to be quite an uphill challenge. Even if Cambridge and Grimsby draw, I think Salford are more likely to push for 3rd than we are. Notts lacks the fight, will-power, team focus and defensively we are not good enough to cope when pressed. At least for the automatic spaces, but I do acknowledge it's a funny old game and you can't say otherwise until it's mathmatically impossible. I just base my thoughts on what I see, how things are unfolding and what seems most likely.

Match Discussion: League Two - Barnet FC (A)
I felt Martin Paterson got his post-match comments wrong, he spoke about how we need to avoid excuses but seemed to put blame on the younger players. For me, it's the senior players letting us down and instead the younger players who are giving us hope. Tom Iorpenda and Jayden Luker (when he came on) did well, it's players like Rod McDonald, Jodi Jones, Matt Palmer, Matt Dennis and Lee Ndlovu who could do better. The passing mistakes were throughout the squad, and I did note that Barnet players tended to go into challeneges with quite high feet. They played like they wanted to win, but in a means which frustrated our players. I am sick of seeing players scrobbing, and being mardy about who should make what run/movement when they aren't exactly playing to the standard they can. I commented to my son, three senior players constantly have wobbles about aspects of the game and whilst this is signs of frustation, it's going to affect the team. Some of the chances we had should have been taken better. But when we passed poorly and didn't defend well, we gave the opposition team an advantage. I think we should have been bolder with the changes, Jones should have come off much sooner. We should have kept Keanan Bennetts on. Maz Kouhyar who I normally would praise, tended to make foolish decisions when dealing with a very tall counter part. He doesn't have the pace, direct skill going forward to outbeat a player like that, yet he constantly tried to do the same thing only to be shown up. The moment Maz did try something different, something which protected the ball and his position, he got past his marker. Matt Dennis reminded me of how Alassana Jatta sometimes appears disinterested, showing little movement and no pressing. Just running and looking an empty threat.

Who's your Man of the Match v Barnet?
I believe Lucas Ness stepped up, but for me, Jacob Bedeau was the only shining example in defence. I believe Rod McDonald had a disappointing performance, with numerous misplaced passes and poor headers. I don't know if he's still not 100% but it was a very, very poor performance by him. Midfield look very disconnected when trying to cope with the pressure Barnet put on us, even Matt Palmer missed placed passes and one almost very much punished us early on. I don't think he did that well in the first half, but did come into it in the second. The players who stood out for me, Bedeau, Tom Iorpenda and Keanan Bennetts, I have critised the latter for his defending but I believe he's improved. I voted for Iorpenda, and he got my decision before it was even official.

Match Discussion: League Two - Barnet FC (A)
I believe the performance will be better, but I want to see the lads show that they are trying. This doesn't mean I don't think they are, but having watched the Cambridge United game and seeing us unable to really trouble them even though their keeper got sent off, resulting in them going down to 10 men. How vital that game was, we didn't give anywhere near as good of an account that we should have. Barnet shouldn't be underestimated, but on paper it shouldn't be as difficult. There needs to be more urgancy to get the ball forward, and certainly more zonal awareness at the back. James Belshaw can't be left exposed so easily, because these 3 remaining games could ease pressure off us if we handle them right and the results go our way. I agree that having 4 at the back would give us some stability. It could always switch during the game, as I also like the idea of two strikers. Now it is crucial we get the most out of what remains, and I just hope the results go our way. As per usual, and I keep saying this, it will go down to the very last game of the season.

Football finances : Colchester Utd
Disgraceful! And now they have Essex's finest ****head as the owner. Wait for them to become Chelsea's reserve team and rely heavily on the connections of his playing days, if anyone thinks John Terry owning a football club is a good thing needs to be mindful how this may potentially unfold.
-
Football finances : Salford City
It's why they brought in those other moneybags I wish not to name, in order to further band roll the club but that indidual appears to be only want involvement when they are higher up. The amount of losses is a disgrace, and I don't see how it's fair to bank roll that amount of debts. I hear someone saying, hold up, wait a minute.... Our owners wiped off a large amount of historical debts that were deliberately hidden during multiple takeovers. There's a difference between covering past debts due to mismanagement, and a club over spending to buy themselves out of a league they shouldn't even be in. Their rise to the EFL wasn't amazing like it was portrayed; it only happened because of the involvement of the squad of 92. I have more respect for Hashtag United.

How has this been allowed?
Mark Stallard made comments about the keeper that came on for them, and that's probably their excuse, but it's not good when the offending player was sent off. It's no punishment to allow them to bring in a replacement; they should have addressed this in the extension window. It's not an injury, or a reasonable alloweance. Effectively they might have well had undone the suspension, because bringing in a replacement effectively does this. This is an overreach and a clear instance of Cambridge United abusing the loan system to rectify a behavioral decision. As their keeper didn't have to hand the ball, it was an incredibly stupid action which should be correctly punished. Unfortunately, this is a get out of jail free card for them. The fact they have been allowed to unfairly bring in a keeper to replace a suspended player is an absolute joke.
