Match Discussion: Game 41 - The Robins (A)
I haven't changed it, I really should but part of me wishes he was still here. Those fools who called for Ardley after every defeat/draw, poor souls are now in overtime. I imagine they'll be doing it even if Ian Burchnall wins 3 games in a row back to back. ????

Match Discussion: Game 37 - Pools (A)
This could be a good indication as to what type of manager we currently have at the reins of Notts, Hartlepool will be a tough team but defensively if we attack they could crumble. Their midfield controls games, they work hard to create chances and have plenty of players who can finish the game. If we start as we did against Wrexham or just slow in general - I can easily see them assuming instant control. It's going to be a difficult game, unless we approach it the right way. First 20 minutes both teams will be wanting to feel each other out, so avoiding an early setback is a must.

Match Discussion: Game 36 - The Cardinals (A)
I checked at 2-1 to Woking, then a short time later it was 2-2. Then 2-3 and 2-4. ???? At 2-1 I thought 'here we go' and I honestly didn't expect much from the game but when I last checked. I felt happy, as it seems we might have found our confidence - rebounding and responding from set backs has been something we've struggled with bar Chesterfield (who gave us that win).

Maisie-Grace Titherley: An appeal
Match days aren't the same without speaking to MG, she's a burst of light and a very brave young person. I have the utmost respect for her and I have been touched by her struggles, but her attitude still remains incredibly bubbly despite the hardship. Her families always at games, I hope to you reach your goal MG. Best wishes to you and your family.

Maisie-Grace Titherley: An appeal
We would like to share the story of Maisie-Grace, an eight-year-old Notts fan. When Maisie-Grace was born, she had a hole in her back with the spine and nerves exposed. Her first operation, to close her spine, was when she was just three hours old. Maisie-Grace spent six of the first 24 hours of her life in an operating theatre, and her family thought they'd lost her five times. When Maisie-Grace was just three weeks old, she had three procedures a week, putting a large needle into the top of her head to drain spinal fluid, and at six weeks old, she had a VP shunt fitted which drains all the fluid from the brain. Shunts are man made and nobody knows how long they will work for which means more operations. Maisie-Grace has a number of conditions including spina bifida meningomyelocele, neuropathic bladder & bowel, hydrocathlus, dislocated hips, autism traits, sleep apnea and a beighton score of 7, which means hyper mobility joints. She has undergone 15 operations and as she gets older she will be having lots more. Unfortunately, the NHS can not fund the right wheelchair that is needed, so Maisie-Grace's grandmother, Alison, is hoping to raise enough money to buy her granddaughter the wheelchair she needs. This wheelchair will have the right support for her hips & spine, and it also grows with her and could last her till late teens. Maisie-Grace will be able to go over rough terrain like walking through the woods and will be much easier to wheel over grass. Also, when Maisie-Grace goes on holiday, she will finally be able to go in the sea as the wheelchair will be able to go across the sand. When it’s snowing, Maisie-Grace is unable to go out in her wheelchair as we struggle to push it through the snow but with the new one she will be more mobile and be able to explore a lot more than she can now. "This wheelchair is also 10kg lighter than the NHS one, she also has fallen out of her NHS chair twice before forwards and hurt herself," said Alison. "She's really hoping that we can raise the funds to buy the new wheelchair and if she's lucky maybe a trike too." A trike means Maisie-Grace would be able to go on bike rides with her friends and family. "Maisie-Grace has to use her hands to wheel it around," added Alison. "This would build up her body strength, as she dislocates her hips and is not allowed to use pedals. "Hopefully in the next month the company will be out about the trike, but we've had quotes for a new wheelchair." Maisie Grace's family have approached several charities but unfortunately due to COVID-19 may of those are closed for funding. If you would like to donate any money to the cause, Alison has created a Gofundme - the link is here.

Scrap that, I've just seen that the game is cancelled. ????

Match Discussion: Game 15 - The Glovers (A)
I think if we are to play a single striker, with wingers to add support - one of them must at times play further central as this would give support for the striker to make ground (rather than isolating our options). If Piethagoram's line-up is what Neal Ardley ops for, then Elisha Sam and, Tom Walker will need to rotate their duties with supporting Kyle Wootton during attacks. Our midfield needs to avoid playing too far up the field, whilst not being that deep - somewhere in the middle would work. As I can see Yeovil wanting to use their pace and, counter us - as they will no doubt see set pieces as a means to flood our defensive if given the chance.

Match Discussion: Game 14 - The Wood (H)
It should be a straight forward game, but usually these types of games aren't. I've just tried to talk @super_pie into watching the game, I met just watch it on my own. ???? Hopefully, our lot won't be tired and can inject the pace needed to keep the momentum going forward. It's important that we take the steam out of the opposition by retaining the ball, we don't have to go straight into 5th gear and chase everything. Provided Notts does the basics are done well, keeps hold of the ball and creates chances. Now, that Kyle Wootton has found the net again - I think his confidence on goal will be higher. I could easily see him slipping a couple past the Boreham Wood keeper tonight.

Shaun Derry: The Magpie Circle - The Great Escape double episode feature
It's a fantastic episode, Paul always does a great job with flowing from subject to subject whilst allowing the guest to speak openly about their time at the club. This double episode with Shaun Derry is an excellent podcast, I loved hearing about Steve Finnan and the old cow shed area where the players used to train.

Match Discussion: Game 13 - The Cardinals (H)
If Notts continues on the last performances they will break sides down. I'm not sure we will thrash anyone any time soon, I think it will be much harder to gain that sort of momentum. The odd 3 goals I can see being shipped past a side, I'm not sure Woking are one of those sides. I can see it being 2-1 to Notts. We are playing very well at Meadow Lane, Notts should be able to control the game and lead the game comfortably despite my prediction. I just can't see Woking being a push over.
-
Match Discussion: Game 12 - Daggers (A)
I really need to make sure I can get to listen/watch the streams, however, I didn't and ended up being told the final score. I have read comments which suggest Notts played well, created chances but nothing clinical. Others have mentioned a possible penalty, I can't comment on that but did note it lead to comments about the match official being poor. A draw isn't the worst outcome, Notts are still undefeated and it means that we still have something to protect in terms of avoiding defeat. 3 points would've been nice, yet I can't say that a draw is a bad result.
-
Match Discussion: Game 12 - Daggers (A)
@Super_Danny_Allsopp Miles is still a quick player who's a handful, yet his crossing isn't that good but he does stretch play. I've watched him a number of times this season and he does well, for them. I'm hopeful we give Tom Walker a start, although if he's not been playing much Neal Ardley might just use him as a sub.
-
Match Discussion: Game 10 - The Spireites (A)
I have to admit, Neal Ardley failing to get a result here would cause me to start doubting him. I don't think he's lost the dressing room, but I am starting to feel more thought going into games would help. Had Notts beat FC Halifax, it would have been a blessing and, given us some much needed points. Losing or drawing to Chesterfield would be a poor result, unless the players played well and, Chesterfield made a proper game of it. Defensively we need to be more switched on for the whole game. @menzinho mentioned recently the midfield partnership of Jim O'Brien, Michael Doyle and, Jake Reeves. I think there's too much pressure on this area to work consistently, it leaves the question if Matty Wolfe can come in to ease this. I've felt for some time that the reliance on Michael Doyle to play every game isn't something that would work, it's either him or O'Brien for me. Yet I do feel we need some stronger competition in this department. Chesterfield are extremely poor, but our rivalry should lift them for the occasion. If we played to our potential, I think it would be easier but cracks are starting to appear on the flanks and, in the middle. A win could give everyone a boost in confidence, but I do feel it's highlighting areas where improvements could ease the situation with Ardley.
-
Match Discussion: Game 9 - The Shaymen (A)
Pretty annoyed about this, but the fault falls onto the players for switching off and, for failing to put a good performance together. I don't blame Neal Ardley, he's got a task to motive these lot and, to get them giving more in games. it's just not good enough that we switch off so easily, this season it's starting to cost us that we don't hold onto narrow leads. I fear social media will be rife pinning all the blame onto one man's shoulders. If we had won, it would've made a small difference but probably not to those who always want him gone after every game.

Match Discussion: Game 9 - The Shaymen (A)
Elisa Sam has scored @menzinho. Que people saying he's megastar, the next big thing since Kyle Wootton. ????
-
Match Discussion: Game 9 - The Shaymen (A)
It's all gone out of the window with the stops and, starts. You'd expect Halifax to favour themselves, not just because they're at home but due to them being match sharp. Hopefully, we have done our home work and, understand that they aren't the best on the ball, at least they struggle to be clinical. In midfield they can move the ball, but can be poor. They also tend to panic at the back, so it could be interesting if both teams decide to pressure themselves. It will either finish 3-1 to someone, or 1-1 if the game ends up being tighter. The first prediction could sway either way, I hope in favour of Notts but who knows which team will play for the points.

I can see clearly now (a positive blog, I think.....)
I’ve been trying to draft my thoughts for some time now, it’s not been coming so freely and, I have found that my depression/anxiety had taken a deep hold of me. I share these, not because I want sympathy but because I can reflect on things. I can also appreciate the support it sometimes gets too; this isn’t about attention but because it’s helpful to feel understood. The past 3 to 4 years, it’s been me trying to keep things a bit more locked up. With the lockdown effecting many mentally, I realised that my behaviour despite my best efforts was never going to be beaten. 2019, I spent trying to reduce my weight as I wanted to ease my mobility and, attempt to enjoy it better – without tipping my health in the wrong way. It’s odd, as strangers would refer to me as “big man” etc, I never felt big, but accepting that I had put on weight has helped. It’s weird, as I walk a lot despite the struggle at certain times but I haven’t felt the benefits of it. Roll on 2020, my Wife pushed towards buying a new bike and, since I found my previous one extremely difficult to peddle – I thought it was more me, rather than the bike itself. It’s helped me in more ways than one, getting out of the house and, enjoying rides with my children has been a nice bonding experience. Even if Jake [my son] takes a lot of convincing, he usually ends up enjoying it and, during lockdown it helped just to give us something to do. With winter, it’s going to be a bit more difficult to have regular bike rides but I aim to have one when possible. We’ve just managed to beat the 2nd lockdown caused by the worldwide pandemic COVID-19, I can honestly say, I spent two weeks embracing a real grasp of what has been clouding my mind. Many of the worries I felt, since have been pushed out of sight and, I feel genuinely a lot happier. Looking at the family snaps, I notice the difference within myself and, I feel my friends will too. Depression is never easy but, I’ve been talking about it a little more since returning home and, it’s nice to feel that corner now becoming a straight road. I’m more determined than ever to keep the inner peace I have found at the top, whilst being kinder to myself. I don’t expect everyone to understand, yet I do hope that those few people I have effectively pushed away can realise that it wasn’t done due to malice – more a lack of coping. I also know, I might not have been that easy to be around from time to time but, this is all on me – I don’t find talking face to face to be easy. Those that have taken something I’ve said or written the wrong way, effectively ignoring me – life moves on. I’m not going to dwell on what I can’t change, as I feel these issues tend to border manic depression and, I know I have a good grip – I fail to deal with everything that life throws my way. Some people can cope, others have a supportive network, but I bury my head in projects. It’s perhaps not the healthiest thing, but to say I’m not grateful would be a massive understatement. First time in a while, I’m not dreading the 2nd lockdown – I will keep to myself, but I do want to start pushing myself to be more talkative slowly. It’s not an ignorance at all, and I stick to what I feel comfortable with and, I realise now it’s just effectively limiting the circle in which my life has been heading. One of my favourite’s songs growing up was about being able to see clearly – it’s perhaps a bit corny, maybe a cliché to say it but I do feel like it’s true. I only realised as a teen that it was about depression in the first place, it always seemed quite a peaceful song.

Match Discussion: Game 8 - The Hatters (H)
The game has so much unnecessary pressure leading into it, but it should ease once the game begins. Notts needs to get a feel of what Stockport has about themselves, it's live on TV and that's another blessing in my eyes. Neal Ardley knows a result would push Notts back up the table, the players understand what is required. It's just getting it out of them. At the moment, I don't think Stockport will batter us by any stretch of the imagine. I feel it's more closer to being a draw and, I am swaying towards 2-2.
-
Match Discussion: Game 7 - The Shots (A)
6 games into the season, I realise that form comes much later for some teams. I'm not a defeatist by any means, I just acknowledge that Notts can't come from being a poor League Two team that deserved to be relegated to winning every National League team just because we're the biggest club in the division. I'd say, I am more a realist that understands that with good times - it takes time to have those better teams which most of our fans seem to take for granted. Yes, Notts has lost 2 games in a row but again, the Maidenhead result should've been done and dusted when we went 2-0. I haven't seen Aldershots goal, I'm unsure about the match stats but I do feel had the players not messed up in the previous game before the COVID-19 break that some would see the bigger picture. Anyone who thinks Notts will walk this league isn't aware of the difficulties, could Notts be doing better? I think so, but some of the games so far has been in our hands and yet we failed to maximise the points gained. Going into the National League last season, most fans said that they would accept mid-table. Most believed the club would struggle and, this is what has happened but we enjoyed a very successful spell last term that propelled Notts into the playoffs after a very sluggish part. I don't feel I have kneejerk reactions to the slightest defeat, I feel the club are in a very good position and, if they work harder that we can push up the table. Torquay and Stockport have gotten off to an amazing start, I can't help but feel some of our fans see this and, believe we're entitled to be doing the same just because of our stature.
-
Match Discussion: Game 7 - The Shots (A)
Perhaps the preparation and, tactics could've been better. It's still a 1-0 defeat. It's hardly a massive defeat and, if it's true about how shocking, how poor the players were, how bad the tactics the was then I am surprised it was only a single goal conceded. People are making it sound like Notts lost 10-0 which didn't happen. You can play poorly and, lose. It's normal. We're not a side that will win each week or even every game. Those calling for Neal Ardley's head and, most likely the rumour makers need to get a grip on what "support" means.
