It’s encouraging to see the club leaning into data and analysis to shape its decisions. They’re not chasing big names for the sake of it, there’s a clear focus on spotting gaps and addressing them with purpose. That kind of thinking helps you stay sharp in a league where money talks, without getting swept up in it. The approach to the loan market was a real eye-opener. If the link with Spurs carries on, it could be a clever way to bring in strong players without overspending. So far, it’s been smart business and a sign that the club’s thinking long-term.

Interesting to see the way the club is using data and analysis to drive decisions. It’s not just about signing names, they’re clearly identifying weaknesses and trying to fix them in smart ways. That’s how you stay competitive in a league full of big spenders without losing your head. The loan market stuff was eye-opening too. Fingers crossed the Spurs link-up continues because that’s how you bring in quality without breaking the bank. Great work so far.

Players do need a consistent run to build confidence and rhythm, especially in key positions. But if someone isn’t performing, it’s fair to give another player a chance. That’s how competition works, and it keeps standards high. The back four looks like it will be settled. The centre backs and goalkeeper seem nailed on. Wing backs might be less certain, but names like Matt Platt, Matthew Dennis and Jodi Jones are likely to be regulars. It would be good to see the squad take shape early. That helps with understanding and teamwork. But some players, like Kellan Gordon, haven’t quite locked down their spot. The Newport game and the training sessions this week give Martin Paterson a chance to make decisions and set things right.

I believe the club will spend money on new players, but it’s clear they’re focusing more on being sustainable. Under the Reedtz brothers, things seem to be shifting towards long-term planning rather than short-term gain. Some fans are throwing around wild theories, saying the club is getting ready to be sold. I don’t believe that’s true. It looks to me like the money from outgoing transfers is being used for more than just boosting the squad. It’s going into the training ground, The Nest, refurbishing the pitch, safe standing, and new advertising boards. I’m not saying the club won’t pay fees for future signings, I do think they will. But I also wanted to highlight the fact that there are other important areas where that money is going.

I’m really hoping to hear some positive updates from the fans who managed to go. Their thoughts will be the best way for me and others who couldn’t make it to get a feel for how things went. I thought Notts might have shared highlights from the Alfreton game, but there’s nothing on the official site. I don’t see why this game would be any different, but I’m still hoping they’ll post something. It would be great to watch.

It’s a terrible way to die, trapped in a burning car. The pictures of what’s left look truly awful. He was told not to fly for medical reasons, and then something like this happens, it’s such a cruel twist of fate. It’s not just Jota either. It sounds like his brother was also named as one of the people who died. My thoughts are with their family and everyone close to them. Rest in peace.

I'm cautiously optimistic. The signings feel different this year, especially with Kouhyar and Iorpenda adding that spark in midfield. We’ve clearly gone for versatility and attacking intent, which is refreshing after last season’s stagnation. That said, I’m still worried about our defence, particularly if Griffiths is our only real option in goal as of now. Bass leaving does leave a massive hole in our defence, and it’s not just about shot-stopping, it’s leadership and communication too. We’ll need a strong start to build confidence, or the pressure on Paterson will mount quickly. Fingers crossed it clicks.

With Alex Bass now off for a reported ‘substantial fee’, McGoldrick choosing not to stay, and Slocombe stepping into coaching, it’s left us without some big figures. No like-for-like Crowley replacement either, so you can’t help but feel we’ve taken a few steps back. I’ve no doubt the recruitment team are hard at it, hunting down the right names to patch things up and give the squad more balance and depth. But it’s a tall order. It might take a couple of eye-catching signings to really lift spirits and get fans believing again. The optimism’s taken a knock, and plugging gaps isn’t just about bodies, it’s about quality too. If anyone from the club does check in on sites like PON, hopefully they realise the right signings could do wonders. It’s not just about replacing talent, it’s about showing ambition.

It’s boiling today. The humidity is really noticeable and makes everything feel heavier. We do love to grumble about the weather - too hot, too cold, never just right. But today genuinely feels worse than usual. It’s not much fun being out in it, especially when the sun’s at its strongest. Best to stay in the shade if you can.

Ollie Norburn was always a standout during his time at Shrewsbury, the kind of player who brings resilience, composure, and leadership to any squad. He’s had his fair share of setbacks with injuries, but his career speaks volumes, more than 200 EFL appearances and the captain’s armband at several clubs is proof of the influence he carries. His presence on the pitch is exactly what teams need to keep things steady in the middle. If he can shake off any rust in pre-season and get back to full fitness, his impact in midfield could be a game-changer. His ability to dictate play and bring structure to the team will be invaluable, and having someone with his experience leading from the centre can make a real difference. There’s every chance we’ll see him playing a vital role in how the team controls matches this season.

I have sat in the Kop many times, but now I sit in the Pavis Stand, to the right of the Kop. My seat is about halfway between the dugout and the end. I like the side view of the pitch because it lets me see everything that is happening.

George Foreman’s life was remarkable, not just because of his boxing achievements but also because of his transformation as a person. He started as a tough, angry young man, but after his loss to Ali and his retirement, he became a preacher and mentor. His return to the ring in his 40s was unheard of at the time, yet he still managed to claim the heavyweight title. Then, he became a business icon with his grill, making more money than he ever did in boxing. He was proof that second chances can lead to something greater. A true legend in and out of the ring.

I am not at the game today and cannot get the radio coverage, but I am checking the score periodically via Google. George Abbott has been a massive signing for us this season, such a talented player, and I eagerly await seeing his goal. Fingers crossed Notts can get another goal, just to put the game to rest. Pleased with the score so far, hope those in attendance are nice and warm.

I tried to post this at half-time, but I couldn't get a strong enough signal. I am impressed with Notts' start and the two goals. Gillingham seemed to have a game plan, which the goals briefly disrupted. Now that we are 2-0 up and firmly in the second half, we need to play as if the first 45 minutes didn't happen. Don't get complacent and push for a third goal.

What a fantastic story Curtis Edwards has! From his early days in the Northern League to playing in the Europa League, it’s clear he’s earned everything he’s achieved. The guy could’ve given up after his early struggles, but instead, he worked even harder. His move to Sweden was a huge turning point, and to play in the top division in Sweden and against European teams shows just how far he’s come. He’s experienced at every level and brings that to his play on the pitch. The best thing about Curtis is that he’s got that work ethic, which is something we’ve needed at Notts. He’s always looking to get involved, helping in both attacking and defensive situations. That’s the kind of player you want in a team fighting for promotion. It’s great to have someone with his background at the club. Let’s hope he can continue his rise with Notts.

Bedeau’s spot on about our defensive shape improving. We had a shaky spell, but now we look a lot more structured. The midfield’s putting in the work off the ball, and even the forwards are pressing high, which makes such a difference. Having a settled backline helps, and I think Bedeau and Platt complement each other well. Also, credit to Alex Bass, he commands his box brilliantly. We still need to be more clinical in front of goal, but defensively, we’re in a much better place than last season. If we can keep this up, we’ll be right in the mix for promotion.
