  1. We won’t really know where we stand until around a dozen games or so and after a few weeks of the window being shut. Personally, I’m more than happy knowing that we will at least be better than several teams this season so shouldn’t go down, but I still feel we are seriously lacking at the back in the quality needed to challenge for promotion. Baj is out for the season, Brindley and Baldwin are injury prone, refs will cotton onto Cameron’s Duffy dives and Rawlo is being caught out for his lack of pace. Tipton has become the Scarlet Pimpernel of the squad and Mahovo has been loaned out. This week will hopefully provide a few answers to this issue and the club will bring in a couple of players.
  2. Crowley for me as well, I’m actually the opposite to @Chrison this and thought he was better and more involved in the first half than second! - 1 off Elite’s scores for Brindley for stopping his covering run and not trying to make a challenge for their first goal. -1.5 for Rawlo’s part in their first goal and for playing 3 attackers onside for their second.
  3. Terrible first goal to concede, rubbish pass from Nemane, Rawlo just gave up and I have no idea what Brindley was doing, he ran back and could have cut Rose off, but he just stopped for some reason and said “there you go, have all the time in the world to line up your shot at the near post”! Second goal was another shocker, competed for a ball we didn’t need to and Rawlo was sat around 10 yards behind the rest of the defence playing 3 attackers onside! Attacking wise, I thought we looked really good, Nemane and Crowley linked up really well in the first half and gave Grimsby’s left hand side nightmares. JJ was quality second half. Johnny B played really well until being forced off and Macca ran his socks off (still don’t know how he put that chance over the bar). Going forward, we were great, but thought we were terrible at the back again, and totally baffled by Stone constantly booting it long to their centre halves in the first half. I get really frustrated at times as we just don’t get tight enough when the opposition have the ball, just close them down! Just need a couple of quality & vocal centre halves now to play alongside Cameron and I think we will definitely make the playoffs, no centre halves will mean a bottom half finish.
  4. Thanks @Fan of Big Tone, we most certainly will enjoy it! Hope you get to yours as well next year, it’s an amazing experience. We’ve already booked for next year.
  5. Off on a cruise around the Western Med @Fan of Big Tone. Fly to Palma, then off to Barcelona, Corsica, Rome, Pompeii and Sicily. Can’t wait but just want nice calm seas.
  6. Out of interest, has there been a press conference this week? Nothing has been posted up anywhere from what I have found.
  7. It’s awful news as I could see him getting used a lot in midfield this season rather than a back four stand in. I hope he comes back stronger and I also hope the club stands by him and gives him the chance to earn a new contract when he comes back as his deal expires at the end of the season.
  8. Haircut in the morning, then off to watch Notts. Sunday is a house tidy and packing for holiday day, so not a lot of time for anything else.
  9. Seriously hope that we have learnt from the first two games and stop making the stupid mistakes we have been doing. Would like the side to be: Stone Tipton Rawlinson Cameron TAR Chickson Palmer Bostock Jones McGoldrick Langstaff Rawlinson only because I cannot bear to watch Brindley get battered again and lack of other options at the moment. I would prefer Jones to be playing his more natural role than a wing back and it’s a toss up between Nemane and TAR. I personally prefer TAR, but it’s a close call.
  10. Peterborough fans are happy with the fee banded around and want to sell as they are not impressed at all with him. Totally lost interest when he was at Chesterfield and I’m pretty sure they were quite happy to get rid of him as well. Doesn’t appear to be anywhere near the player he was and is definitely no Mullin substitute.
  11. It’s a big old unit, but pretty quick (can it play at centre half? ). It will print in A3, but you have to swap the paper over as it only has one tray, and because it can print A3 it will need a fair bit of physical space to house it. Only scans at A4 though it seems. Cartridges look expensive as well at about 60-£70 for a full set, although they are individual inks which I like as less wastage. To me it looks decent, but the size and cost of ink puts me off. I’ve looked at the Eco Tanks but they don’t do duplex copying, fine for everything else though and much cheaper ink and build quality is always a little flimsy on Epsons.
  12. He signed a three year deal originally @Chris, so still had 2 years to run, so it looks like he has signed for an extra year. Will have definitely added a release clause if there wasn’t one already I would think, but I bet it’s a fair whack and that would put a lot of clubs off. Well deserved and I bet he has bagged himself a decent pay rise into the bargain as well. Would also like to see us tie down Scott for an extra year as well, I think he is quality and may possibly end up being the better forward of the two. Bostock as well deserves an extension, the rest I would wait and see.
  13. Tom is excellent with his in depth analysis of Notts players and team stats. He is well worth a follow for anybody not already following him.
  14. Shocking result and just goes to show, you can sign all the attacking players you want but to not think the defence also needed strengthening was a bad call by Notts over the summer, especially when teams found us out towards the back end of last season. You can’t rely on a single defensive signing and an untried loanee at that (I hope he is blinking good though). Sides we play against this season are going to be bigger, faster and stronger than the ones we played against last season and we will have to do what Stockport had to do before we make that much progress. People putting us up there as potential champions were listening to too much hype and believing it (including the players). A mid table finish for first season back would be very acceptable and I hope a lot of fans are now thinking the same. I also think the players also listened to the hype and weren’t in the right mental state for the game. One thing is for sure, I seriously doubt we will see much more of Rawlo and Brindley after August has finished, they are further off the pace than even I thought.
  15. Strong lineup picked for today, although I will be glad when the back line is fully fit and Baldwin and Tipton are in it. Still think we could do with another CB. Bench today is really strong, must be one of the best in the division.
  16. After such a cold spring as well, we didn’t put our garden furniture out till May and we’ve hardly used it at all! I think the Egg chair has been sat in twice and the patio set used less than a handful of times. I’m a little worried for the farmers, the crops look way behind when they should be in full harvest by now.
  17. Thanks for that @Chrisi had totally expunged him from all memory, now I’m haunted again!
  18. It’s definitely him looking at the photos on Twitter X, but can’t see us signing him as we just don’t need a right back so I think he’s with us for fitness. Wouldn’t want him for the RCB position, he’s far too short and we’re lacking enough height as it is.
  19. Interesting to see how he goes and if he has improved his end product and gained consistency. Lightning quick but could also be a bit of a headless chicken at times but seeing as Stockport look really good for promotion, I think it’s a really good move for him.
  20. I can see Rawlo mainly being used against more physical sides this season, he just isn’t mobile enough for a high line game and I’d fully expect Brindley to be playing on the right of a three until Tipton is up to speed. A back three of Cameron, Baldwin, Tipton would give me more confidence (although Cameron isn’t the quickest either) of not being caught out with the ball over the top. Shrews fans were on the whole very complimentary about our side and play, they thought both offside goals were a little dubious, especially the second and were lucky to come out of the game with a draw. Looking forward to seeing the first starting XI of the season on Saturday as I am struggling to name one.
  21. Never heard of the 72 but just read the article. I seriously doubt that Halifax did not offer Debrah a contract, so he would not be a free transfer as he is under the age of 24. Would take him in a heartbeat and he would definitely get the game time. LW tends to rest his more dynamic players and doesn’t tinker around so much with the back line unless forced to by drop of form or injury. I’d have no doubt that Debrah would play 40 plus games if fit and in form. The one issue is that he is taking a very long time to make up his mind and has missed a lot of pre season, so would definitely not walk straight into our side as Williams always tend to drip feed new signings into our lineups.
  22. So at least you are admitting that HRT does not remove all of the advantage of being a genetic male. Usain Bolt is one of the greatest Olympians ever in my eyes, stick him on HRT for three years and he would have blown away the women’s field by a greater percentage marker than the men. Whilst talking about HRT, it does not reduce muscle mass to anywhere near the same level as a woman and does not reduce bone mass. Men’s bones are stronger naturally, so who is most likely to come off physically worse in a 50/50 tackle? The Usain Bolt analogy you used is great as it also highlights the fact that men have longer limbs than women, this will give them an unfair advantage when it comes to sports involving throwing as we all know that in physics a longer arm can generate greater velocity. Men also have the advantage of naturally being able to move their shoulders and hips separately at great speed, if you watch women in sport, a lot seem to struggle with this. That’s why tall male golfers can drive a ball far greater distances than a woman, the fastest male cricketers can bowl 20 mph quicker than a woman, and similar differences with male and female baseball pitchers. One of my all time favourite athletes, Fatima Whitbread threw the javelin over 70m, but she was still over 20m down on the men. In cycling a man with longer legs would be able to create more leverage which would lead to greater velocity. They would have a physical height and limb advantage at sports like basketball and volleyball. The advantages of being a post puberty male are incredible compared to a post puberty female and no amount of HRT will make things totally equal and that is why I’m against genetic males competing in female sport. I will finally add that obviously I have no objections to trans males and females competing in sports where women already compete on equal terms with men.
  23. @George L, you can contest it, but at the end of the day transgender men and women still have the same chromosomes they were born with and that cannot be changed along with some physical attributes. A man’s heart and lungs are bigger than a woman’s, their skeletal muscle mass is larger. Men’s hearts beat slower but eject more blood than a woman’s which increases oxygen flow. Men are physically bigger, lowering testosterone does not remove all of these affects as Trans women still retain some of that advantage.
  24. Erm, no, definitely not. A Transgender female is still not a biological female and should not be participating in top class female sport, otherwise why are so many top female athletes against their inclusion if there is no physical advantage? Where can they compete? They can if they decided to trans before puberty, if they didn’t, then they have to compete with the gender they were post puberty. Regarding Quinn who plays for Canada, she was a woman before becoming non binary, so has never had the physical advantage of being a male. In that case I am fine with it, just as I would be if a non binary biological male wanted to continue in male sport.
  25. Not watched any of it to be honest and didn’t even know we had played until I saw this thread. I might watch a bit of the final if we get to it but I just can’t get on with the women’s game. Yes, it has improved a lot in recent years but it’s just not for me. I hope we do well, as I do with all England sides in all sports.
