The Post Office Scandal...the numbers
I think @liampiethat those who have got away with it until now, know that the people are coming for them and the sooner Fujitsu are charged and heavily fined the better. I have personal views about Social media (some positive, a lot of negative), but it can be great for unearthing hidden news from years back. It can also be a minefield of misinformation if you’re not careful. Politicians now being in a mad rush to do something positive after years of dragging their feet and allowing it to happen is laughable, no wonder they are no longer respected, they’re just a bunch of incompetent fools.

New manager
Matt Gill was awful @menzinho, I think Gary Mills signed him which says it all. But most times it’s the not so great players that make the best coaches, so who knows who it will be. We’ve all guessed but I bet hardly anyone gets it right.

Postponed Match v Sutton rearranged.
Hopefully we will have signed some defenders than can cope with the high ball into the box by then.

Cedwyn Scott On The Comeback Trail
I can’t wait for him to return as I think he is a great talent. We have really missed him because he would be great backup and challenging for a starting place every week. We have had no attacking threat off the bench since he has been injured. I hope the club does the right thing and offers him a chance to earn a new contract, I would hate to see him walk away in the summer.

German football legend Franz Beckenbauer has died
Genuinely shocked when I heard this news. Don’t remember him playing for West Germany to be honest as too young at the time to know. I do remember him playing in the US league (I think for New York Cosmos?) though and everything I have read about him describes him as one of the greatest players ever. I remember watching a film about England at the 1970 World Cup finals and the fact that England’s decision to substitute Charlton when 2-0 up gave Beckenbauer the freedom of the pitch and he was instrumental in getting Germany back into the match and ultimately to win the tie. RIP to Der Kaiser.

Mansfield lose, Barrow win.
I think playoffs is our most realistic target to be honest, but that will depend on new signings that still need to materialise. I’m currently expecting a defeat next Saturday but would take a draw just to stop this wretched run away from home at the moment.

Luke Williams to Swansea?
Listened to some of Luke’s press conference today, sounds like the Swansea chairmen contacted his agent and then went to visit Luke at home. This strikes me as an illegal approach unless I listened to it wrong as I did try to skip through the boring bits.

National Insurance cut.
Bear in mind though @Robbie that Gordon Brown (the ultimate stealth taxer) only ever raised income tax allowances in line with inflation and it was the Tory/LibDem coalition that raised it by around 3.5K in 4 years (Lib Dem manifesto pledge that was implemented), to around 10K from about 6.5K. If the current policy had been maintained, personal allowance would be nearer 10K. I do agree though that allowances have been frozen now for what? A couple of years? It is about time it was raised again, and I bet it will be for April as the desperate government tries to buy back votes (good luck with that). I wouldn’t bet on any basic rate drop for quite a while. I would also say that the triple lock has worked well for pensioners compared to the old system and they’re finally starting to claw back some money to a more respectable amount, but work still needs to be done. Unless I’ve missed it, Starmer (becoming Mr change his mind) also appears to be very quiet on the raising of income tax allowances as well.

Dan Gosling departs
Never was fit enough to show if he could have been of any benefit to us. I don’t think anybody will be shocked by this news.

The Post Office Scandal...the numbers
It is @liampie, it is a great watch on ITVX and it really does strike home how terrible the whole affair was. I actually used to get Computer Weekly delivered to me free, and I remember reading a little about it at the time but never really took much notice of it, it was only when this programme started that you start to learn some of the facts and the more you read, the more shocking it becomes! It also now appears that the police are now starting to investigate it.

The goalkeeping situation
Bit harsh on De Gea @liampie, he was Man Utd’s player of the season for 4 out of 5 seasons and players player in 21/22 season. He only had one bad season and that was the last one, but even now Utd fans would rather have him than Onana who has been dire. You’re right, the defence does need to shield the keeper better but the keeper also has to help and direct the defence, and not talking, claiming crosses and better distribution. Time for Brooks to show he’s good enough, he’ll be 21 this spring and it should be now or never for him.

It’s official, he’s gone
It’s official, I’ve now forgotten about him! Looking forward to the next appointment and Notts’ future.
-
New manager
Not really @DangerousSausage, he only has 100 odd Twitter followers. Name thrown out there that I never thought about is Mark Bonner, sacked in November by Cambridge Utd. Could be thought of as being slightly unlucky as I’ve always considered them to be punching above their weight for the last few years.

Luke Williams to Swansea?
There is obviously been some sticking point, possibly over compensation, or the amount of back room staff he wants / is allowed to bring in. I would seriously doubt it would be terms, maybe the amount of influence he will have on team matters. Looks like it will be morning now before we here confirmation, at least we can then forget about him and start focusing on the future again.
-
New manager
Seriously doubt he would leave Chesterfield for us @Robbie, plus he doesn’t really fit with the obscurity of our last two selections. Would be an interesting choice though. I reckon it is more likely to be another youth team / no. 2 appointment and not that old.
-
New manager
I have no idea who it will be, but they normally go a bit left field. If I was to pick someone who like to play football and is ready for the move up, it would be Stuart Maynard.
-
Luke Williams to Swansea?
I forgot one! ‘Our side is desperately in need of some pace’ - (good luck with that high line!)
-
Can Notts County make the playoffs?
All depends on two things now. How quick can we get additional signings in that hopefully improve the side. How quick can we replace Luke Williams (if he does go), and who will be caretaker. I think we will fall short unless we improve our defence before the Grimsby game.

Luke Williams to Swansea?
Interesting reading some of the comments on Swans message boards. “Suppose we better get used to watching Martinesque ball again. Hope he doesn’t prioritise a ball playing keeper over a shot stopping keeper - (oops) We’re letting in more goals lately so defence needs sorting - (good luck with that) We need a new striker to play that kind of football - (5 mil and let’s talk about Macca) We also need an attacking midfielder with vision and guile - (you can keep your eyes off Crowley) The more I read, the more I think this could go badly wrong for him. I will wish him good luck though…. I think he will need it.

The goalkeeping situation
A good keeper breeds confidence in their defenders, Stone does not do that. He isn’t very vocal, he should be barking orders at his defence and helping them out with positioning and spotting the runners. He needs to come for crosses and not be glued to his line all the time. Throw the ball out more, so often we miss counter attacks by our keepers holding onto the ball when a quick throw out is on. He is too flat footed, which makes him slow to react. That being said he isn’t being given much cover by defenders who just refuse to get tight to attackers (Brindley being the prime culprit) to deny shooting attempts. Give Brooks a go, if he isn’t any better then we know to release him.

Ollie Tipton recalled by Wolves.
I think he recommends the recruitment team to take a look at them, it isn’t his decision to sign them or not as he is head coach and not the manager. Totally agree, most of our recent signings apart from Crowley (I won’t include Didzy as he wanted to come home) & possibly Macari have been poor. Stone is pretty bad, Randall doesn’t exist, Morias injured before signing, and Tipton just not up to it. Gosling was a gamble that hasn’t paid off, so not quite in the same category as the rest to be honest. It makes me wonder just how much of a loss Jason Turner really has been to us as I’m sure he was involved in the recruitment side as well (would be surprised if not).

The Post Office Scandal...the numbers
Watched the first episode tonight and when you look at what happened it beggars belief that the original software developers and Fujitsu appear to have got away Scot free and in fact still gets paid to support the system!
-
Jaden Warner to Notts ?
Would prefer it if we were looking at an experienced centre back to be honest. Young lads can be very inconsistent, whereas we are desperate for somebody who is solid, good in the air and vocal.
-
Ollie Tipton recalled by Wolves.
Saves us a job in sending him back. Let’s face it, if he couldn’t get into our shambles of a back line, then he has no chance.

Dan Crowley signs
Yes it is @Robbie__64, LW has stated that he doesn’t like removing a player from attack by changing formation, so he will have to get better defenders. Crowley has been brilliant, but I would be happy to lose an attacking option on the right as we would still have Crowley, Langstaff, Didzy and Jones on the pitch.
