As far as tonight's squad is concerned it's nice to see Didzy on the bench but Rod McDonald is missing. Has he picked up a contact injury too I would have liked to have seen Jack Hinchy in the starting 11 with Abbott in the front three. The team is similar to the starting 11 apart from Macari who comes in for Johnson. I expect plenty of crosses going into our box tonight & the pitch isn't condusive to free flowing football either. I think a draw would be a good result tonight.- Match Discussion: Game 26 - The Mariners. (A)

- Weekly Chat Monday 10th - Sunday 16th March
Hi everyone. It's been overcast here all day and a little drab. Temperature is 10 Deg lower than yesterday. I have been following the news today of a terrible collision 20 miles east of Flamborough Head in the North Sea between a Tanker & a Container Ship. Both ships are ablaze and it could be an ecological, environmental disaster. The tanker was carrying 100,000 barrels of jet fuel & part of the cargo of the container ship according to Sky is Sodium Cyanide which is very toxic to life Learned today that ships have automatic pilot, & the Cargo ship sailed straight into the side of the Tanker that was at Anchor waiting for the tide so it could sail up the Humber. Thankfully all the crew of both ships are safe which looks like a miracle looking at the two ships ablaze from bow to stern.- COVID - National Day of Reflection
I had to work through the whole thing being classed as an essential worker delivering Milk. It was a scary time not knowing that I would catch the COVID or not, but I was fortunate enough not to get it, neither did my wife. Lots of others weren't so fortunate unfortunately.- Match Discussion: Game 26 - The Mariners. (A)
Great News everyone. According to Notts, David McGoldrick is in contention to be selected against Grimsby.- Maynard left exposed?
Nice summing up of the current situation @Chris. As far as the new signings are concerned, I agree that Whittaker & Traore have potential & need time to eventually make an impact. However, I don't think that Johnson & Jarvis have been particularly good signings for us. I think that the four signings needed to be players that could have made an instant impact for Notts because with the injuries it was essential for Notts to strengthen the squad for the run in. But that hasn't happened. Bear in mind, Notts released Brown & Martin but their replacements to date, (Traore & Jarvis) haven't been any better when Notts needed an improvement.- Nottingham tram extension
Needs to be more investment in North Notts. Plans for an extension of the Robin Hood Line between the Towns of Mansfield & Ollerton v Edwinstowe were put forward. A feasibility study was started in 2009 but after 16 years, they are still stuck in the planning stage while other projects in the South of Nottinghamshire seem to get preference.- Match Discussion: Game 26 - The Mariners. @Pies79. It was very close for me between McDonald & Macari, & Grant v Whitaker too. Palmer needs a player in front of him similar to Ruben & Crowley to be much more effective. I think he misses those two players. Not sure whether Whittaker is the same type of playmaker, although he's young so he has plenty of time to develop.- Maynard left exposed?
I agree @Pies79. I'm just wondering if the leaving of the Saunders brothers, along with Montague are linked in some way. I have discussed on here & I see you brought it up to about Notts changing their style like going direct on occasions. We know that the Reedtz brothers want to play out from the back. I wonder if there was any dissatisfaction with having to be so rigid with the style. It may not be the case, but those three all leaving within a short time does get one thinking.- Phoenix Club updates.
Macclesfield are well on their way to promotion to the National League North this season with a massive lead over Worksop Town.- Match Discussion: Game 26 - The Mariners. (A)
So this is my team to face Grimsby. Bass Macari, Platt, Bedeau Gordon, Palmer, Hinchy, Tsaroulla Abbott, Grant, Jatta Subs Slocombe, Edwards, Whittaker, McDonald, Jarvis, Cisse, Traore. - Match Discussion: Game 26 - The Mariners. (A)
