  1. @Chris When I retired I was a steady 12.5 stone. I used to walk probably 5 or 6 miles a day being a multi drop delivery driver. Since retiring I've tried to walk a few miles a day. That went down to 1 mile several weeks before new year then I took a rest from it. I tried to be relatively active in the meantime, but having a few health conditions it takes effort some days to get the exercise I need. I need to get below 13 stone again & get back to a healthy diet. So I need to lose 7 or 8 pounds.
  2. The most famous phoenix club in England are arguably Leeds United. Leeds United's predecessor, Leeds City, was formed in 1904 & elected to League membership in 1905 & played in the 2nd Division. They achieved their highest position of 4th in the 2nd Div under Secretary Manager Herbert Chapman in season 1913/14. In 1919, Leeds City was forcibly disbanded from the 2nd Div by The Football League, in response to allegations of illegal payments to players during the First World War. At Salem Chapel in 1919, Leeds United were formed, & they received an invitation to enter the Midland League, being voted into it on 31 Oct 1919. Following Leeds City's disbanding, Yorkshire Amateurs bought Elland Road stadium, & then sold it to Leeds United for £250. On 31 May 1920, Leeds United were elected to the Football League. 4. Looking forward to this match on Saturday. It will be an opportunity for Notts to continue with the excellent form they have shown over the last nine games. I'm sure Morecambe will make it as difficult as they can, but Notts have different options nowadays to create chances from open play or dead ball situations. Stuart Maynard has more selection headaches too which is a good thing. A strong first eleven coupled with a strong bench is a recipe for success.
  5. I wish Mark Hughes luck with his latest appointment as Carlisle Head Coach.. If Mark can save them from relegation it would be a a big achievement. Carlisle are bottom of league 2 & 5 points from safety. His last appointment at Bradford was the first time that Mark had Managed outside the PL. He lasted about 20 months before being sacked with Bradford in 18th place. It was felt by the Bradford City players that Hughes was trying to shoehorn PL tactics into the League Two side, & this ultimately contributed to the lack of success in his second season. My take. I think it's a brave appointment by Carlisle, but I think they are taking a gamble appointing him. He has to work with another Manager's team & get them winning very quickly. It will be difficult.
  6. Those sort of days are long gone. Now we can look forward with optimism to much better days ahead The Club has been rebuilt under the Reedtz brothers from top to bottom & we now have a team to be proud of.
  7. Is this a good move by Carlisle United?
  8. It's a lovely morning here. The Sun is strong & bright, but it is cold with a large amount of frost on the grass. Have just completed my two mile walk, being well wrapped up. Have been taking a bit of a rest from walking since the beginning of the new year but It's time to get back to it. I've put on several pounds so need to try to work that off & watch what I'm eating going forward.

  12. You can bet your bottom dollar that the EFL teams will turn it down. I don't think the teams will want an extra team being relegated to the non league. Another solution would be to admit the National League into the EFL as League 3. You could then have four teams promoted from League 3 & four teams relegated from League 2 to League 3.
  13. This needs to be given serious thought from the EFL. It's time to increase the number of promotion places from the National League. My proposal would be for two automatic promotion places & the third place decided by playoffs between the clubs that finished from 3rd to 6th in the National League.
  14. I believe the Reedtz brothers have done a tremendous job since they took over. They knew exactly what they wanted to do, business & footballing wise. Their recruitment has been largely successful from recruiting the right Head Coaches to player recruitment. I think that the Owners have been learning & getting much better in the way they recruit over the years too. An example of this was letting valuable players like Kyle & Ruben go on a free, when their contracts ran out. I don't think this will happen in the future. It is clear that they believe in recruiting cheaply & developing players at every level of the club. Some players will be retained & some will be sold on for profit, & the cycle will continue to keep the club on an even keel financially.
