A Team Selection Conundrum For Maynard in January.
Here's a conundrum PON members. What's your strongest team when everyone is fit? Hopefully in January all the injured players will return & be available for selection, but once Stuart has all his players back, he will have a big headache.. Who does he pick for his starting 11, & Subs bench, & who does he leave out? If I had to choose this would be my starting 11 & players on the bench. Bass, Platt, Ness, Bedeau, Jones, Abbott, Palmer, Tsaroulla, Crowley, Grant, Jatta. Subs, Didzy, Edwards,Macari, Robertson, Scott, Austin, McDonald. Those players missing out would be Hinchy, Cundy, Gordon, Martin & Brown

Arriving on BlueSky and update on PON socials
@Blake I hadn't heard that Notts have turned Bluesky down. Maybe they will change their minds when they see the number of Notts fans on there.

14 Summer Signings. Who's made the biggest impact?
To answer my own question I will answer it in two parts. The big difference between last season is our defence. A bit of a no brainer. What's so great about our defence this season is how our defence and defensive midfield have gelled together. Of the new players, Goalkeeper Alex Bass, & defenders, Matty Platt, & Jacob Bedeau have formed a great understanding in such a short time. Alex Bass is a rock between the sticks & all three players compliment each other so well. Loanee, George Abbott has established himself in the centre of midfield & he supports those three players so well. So of my four best picks, Platt, Bass, Bedeau & Abbott, my number one is simply Matty Platt for his very good consistent performances every match. Although it was very close between them. Of the other new players, Tsaroulla just missed a top five spot, Edwards & Grant played well till they got injured. Defenders, McDonald & Ness were injured but are now on their way back, & what we have seen of Ness he could challenge for a back three spot soon. Of the other players I haven't mentioned the jury is out on whether they will feature except from off the bench.

14 Summer Signings. Who's made the biggest impact?
Notts had a very busy transfer window in the summer, Eleven signings in the close season & three after the season started. Players that helped Notts get promoted from the National league were released. So we are nearly a third of the way into the 2024/25 season. So my PON colleagues, which player or players out of the 14 players that Notts signed this summer have made the biggest impact in your opinion? I didn't include Jatta because he was signed in January. A reminder of the players that were signed. Robbie Cundy, Matty Platt, Jacob Bedeau, Rod McDonald, Lucas Ness, Nick Tsaroulla, Kellan Gordon, Alex Bass, George Abbott, Jack Hinchy, Curtis Edwards, Josh Martin, Jevani Brown & Conor Grant. I will give my own assessment later on in the thread.

Childhood food memories
My childhood memories that I look back with fondness is of the 60s & early 70s & my Mum's cooking. She made her own jams, strawberry, Raspberry & Marmalade. She could cook all kinds of Cakes, Pies, even bonfire toffee & regular toffee. She would make her own mince to go in her mince pies. The mince pies you can buy just don't compare. It's just a pity she never wrote down her recipes.

Notts County Academy Watch.
- Who knew about the red / green tests at the opticians?
I go for an eye test every year. I had to do that for my HGV license. I wasn't aware of the green and red light test. The optician can easily tell if you are long or short sighted by the eye test itself, but I suppose this test will help too. I'm short sighted. I've never needed glasses to read until the last few years, when I've had verifocal glasses.- Shambles of FA Of Ireland finances
It seems that the only FA that isn't a complete shambles at the moment is the Welsh FA.- Carlisle Utd, a year under American owners
A club needs to have some stability and give players time to help together. Players need to be able to fit into the Carlisle system if they have one. Chipping and changing managers and players isn't a good recipe for stability. No matter who the owner is, they need to have some understanding about association football. If they don't, they need to have a C/O that does.- Arriving on BlueSky and update on PON socials
I'm now on Bluesky to talk all things Notts, general sports & support PON on there too.- Steve Cooper sacked
You couldn't make it up, but I'm not surprised.- Dumbarton have gone into administration.
Nice one @BiggestPieInGlasgow. I've seen donors from other clubs pitching in to help out. Nice to see it over £82k now.- #12 Peterborough United vs Notts County PREVIEW | with Mark Stallard
I think Notts should field a strong team for this one. If they could possibly get through, a good draw at home to one of the big six and the TV cameras in attendance would swell the financial coffers somewhat.- Steve Cooper sacked
It's sad that he didn't last long but it is totally indicative of football at the moment. If a manager isn't winning matches, their days are numbered, unless you are named Pep Guardiola of course. Although five defeats on the bounce isn't a good look for Pep.- Weekly Chat Monday 25th Nov - Sunday 1st Dec
Good afternoon all. A little late but been busy today, Some food shopping done this morning running errand for the Mrs. We have a food delivery too tomorrow. Both been out in the garden this afternoon planting bulbs for the spring. And yes, @Fan of Big Tone bending ones back at our ages brings on the creaky noises, the pain and discomfort. I prepared the pots, the wife does the planting. Picked up a load of leaves too. It's nice to have some colour during the spring Our old daffs had to be removed because they grew this past spring but didn't flower. They were about ten years old though. Now it's time to catch up on PON with a nice cappuccino.- "I want to play every minute"- David McGoldrick.
I agree @liampie Didzy's playing time needs to be carefully managed. It's been hard to leave him out due to all the injuries, but he's so good in the supporting role, basically acting as an attacking midfielder. I think he will be rested against Peterborough & probably Scott will be in that role for that game. In the new year, if the injured players return, we may see him more on the bench & used as a game changer. - Who knew about the red / green tests at the opticians?
