  1. A lot of interest in Alfreton regarding the clash with Notts on Friday evening. Alfreton Town visit Notts County in FA Cup first-round derby tie - BBC Sport WWW.BBC.CO.UK Alfreton Town boss Billy Heath says his side will be "fearless" in their attempt to...
  2. Your Thursday Afternoon Weather.
  3. Good afternoon. Another cloudy day here, & it's been a bit dreary all morning & into the Afternoon. Did you know, In 1066, in the invasion of England, King William the Conqueror made Sherwood Forest a Royal Hunting Forest.Sherwood Forest was frequently visited by the Mercian Kings. When the Domesday Book was compiled in 1086, Sherwood Forest covered perhaps a quarter of Nottinghamshire (approximately 19,000 acres) in woodland & heath subject to the forest laws. The forest gives its name to the Parliamentary constituency of Sherwood Forest (formerly Sherwood before the 2023 Periodic Review of Westminster constituencies) Mansfield anciently became the pre-eminent in importance among the towns of the Forest. 9. I agree with this. The clocks should NOT go back one hour just leave it as it is all year round.
  10. Great win for Notts under 18s
  11. @gtownjohnno That's a reasonable alternative. Not sure if Stuart will deviate from the 3-4-2-1 that he prefers but he may make small changes to the shape. Even with your line up you'll probably see McDonald, Hinchy, Slocombe, Martin, Abbott, Cundy, & Reynolds on the bench I don't think we'll see Didzy feature at all Friday evening.
  12. Good luck to our under 18s tonight in the FA youth cup.
  13. @gtownjohnno Stuart thinks very highly of McDonald & Ness so I'm sure they will figure on Friday if fit. Cundy is part of the squad so he's sure to figure either in the starting 11 or on the bench.. How is Stuart going to rest his first choice team or even risk them in this match? If you have an alternative squad for the match name it. Let's see how it compares.
  14. Not surprised. It was surprising that he was given the captaincy in the first place. Hopefully being released from the burden of captaincy will help improve his game
  15. Stuart has spoken about the importance of the FA Cup and he will be keen to progress in the competition as far as he can. I think that this match is an opportunity for Stuart Maynard to rest players & allow injured players to recover. Stuart is most likely to use his squad & Academy players in the first eleven & have some of his senior players on the bench just in case. It will give the squad players valuable match time. & give them an opportunity to impress. Key areas will be defensively & upfront. So my team would be, Slocombe McDonald, Ness, Cundy, Martin, Hinchy, Palmer, Gordon Reynolds, Austin Brown. Subs, Abbott, Bedeau, Jatta, Crowley, Bass, Tsaroulla, Cisse The first eleven should be strong enough to get a result on Friday, but having a strong bench will give Stuart plenty of options, if the match finishes up being tight. Hopefully, most of the bench won't be needed. My score 3:0 Notts.
  16. Notts v Alfreton. FA Cup 1st Round. Friday 1st Nov 19:45 What line-up should Stuart Maynard opt for? What will be the key areas for the Magpies to get a victory? What do you think the final score will be?
