  1. The only decent one I've heard is Ed Sheeran & Sir Elton John - 'Merry Christmas' Elton is an oldie & Ed is one of the few excellent modern artists in my opinion. But these old Xmas songs from yester year keep coming back every year. There is still a big market for them.
  2. Yes it was in the final against Ascoli which we won 2:1. A massive long throw from Andy Legg in the first half. Tony Agana claimed a slight touch and ref saw it as a goal. Andy could certainly throw it long. Caused loads of problems for Ascoli in this match.
  3. It's now 23rd December.I feel good because we are back in the Football League. I feel less confident about us winning matches than I did a few weeks ago. However, I am very confident that we will turn this poor spell around after Xmas. Feeling good, & feeling very optimistic.
  4. Yes, JohnTheBost ,in 1992, the Anglo-Italian Cup was re-established & revamped for second-tier clubs. The Italian representatives were Serie B teams.
  5. Just like to take the opportunity to thank everyone for the warm welcome.
  6. Yes. Notts were the only English team to win when it was revamped in the 1990s. Notts were in two finals out of the four that were contested at that time. I do believe it would be a good idea to bring it back for tier two sides down to tier 4 in both Countries. There is much more money in the game now & it would generate much needed finance for lower tier sides.
  7. I believe Luke is the best Manager to take us forward and possibly get us into the playoffs at the end of the regular season. I love to see passion in a Manager and Luke has lots of that. I believe it only needs the right players to come in at the January window to turn our fortunes around, and I want some of Luke's passion transferred into the way we play too. In the new year, I'd like to see the 50 point mark achieved first then push on from there.
  8. In the distant past there was a certain Tom Keetley who became a prolific goalscorer for both Doncaster Rovers and Notts County From 1923 to 1929 Tom played for Rovers scoring 180 goals from 231 appearances. Tom moved to Notts in 1929 till 1933 where he scored 94 goals from 103 appearances.
  9. The Anglo-Italian Cup was a competition played intermittently between English and Italian clubs between1970 and 1996. In total Italian clubs won 15 and English clubs 6, Notts County being one of the only 6 English clubs to win it. The competition proved lucrative for Notts County, reaching two finals and winning in the 1994/95 season. Incidentally, Notts were the only English winners when the competition was held on four consecutive years in the 1990s Sadly the tournament was discontinued after the 1995/96 season.
  10. Paul Heffernan played for Notts from 1999 to 2004, making 100 appearances and scoring 35 goals. After a small spell for Bristol City. Paul played for Doncaster from 2005 to 2010 making 127 appearances & scoring 35 goals.
  11. I agree. Doncaster will have improved since then, but these are the matches that we have to win, and this match is vital to see us end our run of defeats. I'm confident that we will do just that on boxing day, hopefully in front of a big crowd.
  12. If everyone has come through the Stockport match unscathed, I would keep the same team. We witnessed a much better performance and if things had gone our way we could have easily have won the match on Friday night. We played really well when we last played Doncaster at their place when we won 3:1. We should never take any team in League 2 lightly, every match is going to be tough, Doncaster will be firing on all cylinders to make amends for their early season loss to us. But this is a great opportunity to continue our form at Stockport and get back to winning ways. The key areas for us will be our defence, where we need to cut out the silly errors. I'm confident we are going to win this. My score would be 3:1 with Maca getting a brace.
  13. Hello @StanfordPie Welcome to PON. Great to have you onboard.
  14. The Successful clubs are the club's that hold on to good Managers and Head Coaches. I believe that nowadays there is much more pressure put on Managers at such an early stage than in the past, especially from the media and punditry. Statistically, changing a Manager when a team is in big trouble doesn't tend to save them from the drop anyway.
  15. I welcome these improvements to our ground. With attendances increasing its great to know that the club are doing all they can to enhance the safety of the fans.
  16. My number one Christmas song Has to be Bing Crosby's White Christmas.
  17. On the whole it was a much better performance by the lads tonight. We needed to be near our best and I believe we were. Unfortunately we once again became undone with silly errors. I am encouraged to see that we are still scoring goals in virtually every game we play. Cut out the silly errors defensively and we can still finish in and around the playoffs. January transfer window will probably decide our season.
  18. I thought it would be a score draw tonight. Like you pleased with the performance and it could have easily turned out a much better result tonight.
  19. Agree. We competed very well with them. We know we can score against any team in this league & we did again tonight. Cut down those goals conceded then we can start winning matches again & rise up that table.
  20. It was Band Aid. Do they know it's Xmas Wham got to number 2 that year
  21. Much better performance, punished for silly mistakes at the back again. Stockport are a top side and we gave them problems. Have to take our chances though. Transfer window gets more and more important. We need two defenders, a defensive midfielder and a striker. Sort out the mistakes and we will make the play offs.
  22. I heard Luke has been linked to the Swansea job too over the last few days. It's the usual media speculation. Luke has a project to complete at Notts and I hope he stays with Notts and he continues to make history here.
  23. Strong team for tonight's match
  24. It's been announced that Wham have secured this year's Xmas number one slot, thirty nine years after first being denied it.
