Notts County Women updates
@heraldmagpie The women did well to survive the drop last season, so hoping for an improvement this season. Hopefully these three new signings will help and Rhea appears to be a good addition to the team.

Match Discussion: League Cup - The Shrews (A)
This is the Notts team for tonight's match. Dissapointing that Bass isn't playing and it doesn't appear to be our strongest 11 starting. We will have Jatta, Crowley, Scott and Platt included on the bench.

- New Signing Jacob Bedeau Thrilled to Be Part of Notts County's Journey
I think that Jacob Bedeau is a brilliant signing for Notts & I believe he can be a very important part of our defence this season. The early impressions of him in the Notts County black and white are very good He looks very calm on the ball and that has been something that has been lacking last season. I hope that he can forge a great defensive partnership with Macari & Platt. If that can happen, and what we have already seen is encouraging, Notts will be very stingy at the back this season. The fact that he will be able to cover as left wing back is big as well because it gives Notts options at the back especially if someone has to go off either tactically or through injury. Exciting times ahead for Notts.- Notts County Academy Watch.
Our B team begin their league season with a 2:1 win over Chelmsford City, with goals from Sanderson and Edwards in the second half.- Match Discussion: League Cup - The Shrews (A)

Sanderson on the score sheet for Notts B in the second half. In the first half Notts B dominated but didn't take their chances.- Notts County Academy Watch.
B team line up for the match v Chelmsford City at Keyworth today. Sanderson is playing.- Weekly chat 12th - 18th August
Was a lovely morning this morning with lots of sun. We were forecast more cloud this afternoon, but it hasn't arrived yet although the sky is hazy. Got my self into the garden, cut the grass and weeded. Flowers have picked up after the brief thunderstorm yesterday. It was very dark sky toward the North but we missed most of the deluge here Our oak leaf hydrangea bush is doing well this year. It has large white cone shaped flowers that turn cream after a few weeks then pink for a while then brown. It normally flowers in August but it's a little early this year. Some sad news to report, the wood pigeons nesting in our American Lilac have abandoned it. I guessed they would. It was too low to the ground & in a vunerable position unfortunately. It's positioned to high to see if any eggs were laid but we hadn't seen any activity at the nest for few several days. Last year we had a robin nesting and rearing young in our Ivy hedge. In past years we've had a sparrow family nesting in one of our very thick conifer bushes. So we've seen successes but unfortunately it didn't work for the wood pigeons this time.- Cup Competitions: Should Clubs Take Them Seriously?
In recent years we've seen the vast majority of Clubs, especially in the top two leagues field weakened sides in the early rounds of these Cup Competitions. Some supporters understand why they do it, some supporters think that their club don't take Cup competitions seriously. As we all know, the top clubs in the PL concentrate on winning the league & going far into European competitions to make money. That's their prime focus. Only in later rounds of cup competitions, they tend to field their strongest side. This mindset has spread to the lower leagues and even down to the National League where the modern focus is to save players for the League. It is understandable that clubs want to concentrate on getting promotion because that increases support, which in turn increases revenue. But for lower league clubs getting through the early rounds then getting to meet a big club can be very financially lucrative, for clubs. That's why I would like to see many more lower league clubs like Notts field a stronger side in the Cup competitions, because it would reap dividends if they could get through & meet a Man U or a Man C. As a Notts supporter it would be great to see Notts match up to a PL side at Meadow Lane. Thoughts?- Prediction league 24/25 round 1 - Saturday 10 August

I think sacking someone after just one game is a poor show. After six games maybe, but I think these sackings at such an early time piles more unwanted disruption on the team.- Welcome Gaz Whitworth

I'm very pleased with the performance. To get a clean sheet in our first away match compared to conceding 5 last season marks a big sea change for me. Standouts for me are Alex Bass & Jacob Bedeau who I believe will be big for the club this season. Special credit for the whole team & substitutes for working hard, keeping it tight, and nearly stealing the match at the end. Stuart needs a mention too, for picking his starting eleven and the substitutions that he made in the second half that nearly proved a game changer. That's what Notts were missing last season. Players that can come on and make a difference. That's another big sea change. Let's not get too ahead of ourselves but first impressions are very positive.- New signings coming soon?
I agree with everyone that we need another striker. I'd go for someone who is very physical and tall, good with the head and holding up play. I think we've missed a striker like that. I would also like to see another goalkeeper come in and challenge Bass for the number one spot. I love Slocombe but for me he just makes too many mistakes for my liking. I would go for a goalie who's a good shop stopper, can command his area and deal with crosses and corners well. And another important trait. To lead and direct his back line too.- Notts Alumni: Jeff Astle
Jeff Astle was an incredible player for his time & Notts can be rightly proud that they discovered a real gem that would go on and make footballing history with West Bromwich Albion. Jeff left Notts a few years before my time of watching Notts, but I did see him playing on the telly & it was a pleasure to do so Jeff's work ethic reminds me a lot of a player that has just left us, Macaulay Langstaff. Macca has similar traits to Jeff and I can see Macca scoring many more goals just as Jeff did when he left Notts. It was sad that Jeff left this life prematurely, but what a legacy he has left football. His death has also put into the spotlight the dangers of heading a football which can lead to dementia in later life. We are now seeing safety features introduced into junior football to reduce the risk of dementia in later life. - New Signing Jacob Bedeau Thrilled to Be Part of Notts County's Journey
