  1. When the new Head Coach comes in with his new team all of our players will be given a chance to impress the new gaffer, in training and on the pitch. The recent set of poor results under the previous coaching team could be put down to a lack of confidence. A new person at the helm will immediately give all the players a lift and by implementing new ideas, tactics, style of play and shape, it could immediately give some of our players a new lease of life, and help them to continue to challenge for a first team place. Of course we will get a fresh intake of players too, so this will increase competition for places. I'm confident that the New Head Coach will put an end to the poor set of results from the team and lift everyone's spirits for the final half of the season.
  2. So we know that Luke has gone and we wait for a new Head Coach to be appointed. A New Coach brings new ideas, new tactics, possible changes in shape, style of play & changes in the team. What would you like to see from a new Head Coach? Will all the players get a new lease of life or might we see changes in the starting 11?
  3. I just don't think Stone fitted in well for Luke's style of play. I don't see Stone as a good distributor for playing out from the back. Maybe a new coach may have new ideas and Stone may fit into that new system.
  4. I Agree @DangerousSausage I thought Luke was a fantastic Coach and has done wonders for this club which will never be forgotten, but I've been increasingly concerned about his stubbornness to carry on with the same tactics of playing out from the back when the defense is making the same mistakes every game and the total football concept. Don't get me wrong, I love our attractive football but sometimes you have to change tactics when playing away, to a more defensive approach, and when in doubt, kick it out. As you said, a new coach may have new ideas.such as Stopping us leaking goals like a sieve, & take a bit of pressure off our defense & Goalkeeper.
  5. @KB1862 I do agree on Stone & Slocombe, however I think Luke has to take some criticism for continuing to play open possession football, especially for away games, & not gone to a plan B by being more defensive minded to protect our back 3 & goalie. A new Coach may be more defensive minded. i would welcome that in away games.
  6. @liampie Luke became very emotional when he talked about his relationship with Jason Turner. Luke had nothing but good words to say about the club and his last words to a question to him about what advice he'd give to his successor and he replied by asking a new Head Coach to look after the people at Notts. That's leadership for you.
  7. @Chris agree, I can understand why he went when he did, a Championship club, better Salary, closer too home, chance to get Swansea to the playoffs, but could be a stretch. On the other side, he had lost 7 matches out of the latest 11 Notts played, so he weighing it up, it could have got worse and he'd have been less marketable. In the end, his going could work to our advantage & give us some impetus with a new coach, new players, & fresh tactics.
  8. @liampie Part of the statement from the Notts website reads "In the interim, first-team affairs will be handled by Jim O'Brien, Tom Weal and Joao Alves. O'Brien, the club's longest-serving player, possesses the Uefa A Licence and has already taken his first steps into coaching with a role in Sheffield United's academy." So we appear to be in good hands while we wait for the Club to appoint a suitable replacement for Luke
  9. Jim O'Brien has been appointed interim Head Coach, according to the Notts website, for the time being. Thoughts?
  10. Now that Luke has left and gone to Swansea, a New Head Coach I'm sure, will give us added impetus to make the playoffs with his fresh style of play,.adding something else for opponents to think about. I look forward to that and the making of more history for our club
  11. Sad to see him go, but glad for what we have achieved under his great leadership. The club will go on & it will put the right person in to succeed him. Onwards and upwards.
  12. Thank you and good luck at Swansea.
  13. @DangerousSausage @4everapie @Ohh Tommy Johnson I think the silence by our club despite all the speculation & the lack of denial tells us something is coming. I can't remember something like this going in for so long though. There must be intense negotiations going on or some sort of disagreement.
  14. Notts County's 3500th league match. Third Division Match 1987. Notts 4 v Port Vale 1. Featuring a hat trick from Ian McParland. At the conclusion of the match there is an interview with Jackie Sewell & Tommy Lawton. Great memories.
  15. I know there's speculation abound but Notts and Swansea are not denying what the strong rumours are. Well know tomorrow I expect.
  16. Yes @Fozzy We are all waiting probably for the inevitable, but let Notts take their time. Notts must be properly compensated. If Swansea want him, there'll have to pay for him.
  17. Speculation is continuing on social media that Luke Williams to Swansea is a done deal, but yet to be officially confirmed. If it's a done deal, a new Manager/Head Coach will have to be appointed. What changes will we see once the new Manager/Head Coach comes in? Will we see a different shape, tactics, the way we play, the same ethic of 'total football' or will we see changes, and what changes would you like to see from a new Manager/Head Coach? For me, I would like to see the same ethic continue, but I'd like the team to be more cautious & defensive minded playing away & have a plan B when necessary. Because a new person will be appointed there may be a delay now in players coming in, so the new boss can have input on new recruits.
  18. Brief highlights of Division 2, Notts 3 v Southampton 2, Sept 1974 featuring Kevin Randall, Brian Stubbs & Don Mason

  19. Paul Cook of Chesterfield could be considered. He guided Chesterfield & Portsmouth to League 2 titles 2013/14 & 2016/17 respectfully. He also guided League 1 Wigan to the title in 2017/2018.
  20. So there is a silver lining coming, which is a positive development.
  21. I agree with you @Ohh Tommy Johnson We didn't know much about, Luke, Macaulay and Dan before they came to Notts, and wow have they performed for us. Life will have to go on after those three have left and anyone else who may leave, and the Club will go on from strength to strength in the future.
  22. I'm sure the the Reedtz brothers know who they want. I don't think we'll see any one on the bookies list, or any former Managers of Notts Who ever they choose may well be an upcoming young Coach who wants to play open football, but with a hint of caution too with a plan B if plan A doesn't work. The owners have picked well up to yet and I'm confident they'll do it again.
  23. Key areas will be our goalkeeper and defense. I believe Notts need to start being more cautious on their travels. I would go for a 3,5,1,1 formation, a back three, with 5 across midfield leaving Macaulay up front supported by Didzy. I would drop Stone & Brindley, & bring in Brooks & Macari. I would drop Nemane and replace him with Robertson. My Plan B. Notts need to be more defensive minded away from home, by conceding possession much more and catching opponents on the break, and also employ more direct tactics too. Notts have demonstrated that going long does work when they use it. Notts just need to be less predictable, because the opposition have done their homework on us, in many ways they have found us out. Notts need to counter that and come up with an alternative, to surprise the opposition. I'd like to see a 1:0 victory but I'd settle for a draw.
