  1. Precipitation rolling in from the southwest is increasingly turning to #snow now across higher ground of north Wales, the Peak District, Cumbria and Northern Ireland. Here's the latest radar.
  2. Something we already knew. VAR decisions do take too long and is spoiling the enjoyment for supporters.
  3. I do agree that the decisions were correct @KB1862, it's just the time taken, and the Ref not blowing for the pen in the first place. Why not stop the game after the incident and check VAR straight away for a pen? I just think a Ref should ref the game as if VAR wasn't there. Then use VAR when it's necessary. But there lies the problem. Refs don't want to be seen to be making a wrong decision then VAR showing it up. That was the discussion about Mike Dean.
  4. Your weather for Thursday morning. A very chilly and frosty start to Thursday across the north.
  5. Watched the semi final match of the Africa Cup of Nations: Nigeria v South Africa. Nigeria finally won the match, but there were 3 penalty incidents where VAR was involved. The first penalty was clear cut where Nigeria took the lead, but South Africa's penalty was full of drama.. There was what looked like a foul in the Nigerian penalty area, but the ref said play on, Nigeria broke away and scored a goal with wild celebrations going on, and the crowd was going wild with delight too.. Then VAR got involved and went back to the suspected foul play incident earlier. The Ref reviewed the footage and gave South Africa a penalty, so instead of being 2:0 it was 1:1. Then late in the game, Nigeria broke away and the Nigerian forward was brought down near or on the penalty line After about 6 minutes deliberation the SA defender was sent off, but it was adjudged no penalty, a free kick was given on the edge of the penalty area, that was beaten off Subsequently the match went to penalties and Nigeria won. But, why didn't the ref blow for a foul instead of letting the play go on for Nigeria to score their 2nd, that never was. This is what I don't like about VAR. The Ref not stopping the game after the foul, and not making the decision about the penalty himself in the first place. Then leaving it to VAR after Nigeria scored, then the time taken. All this spoils the game in my opinion.
  6. Your 10 day weather trend.
  7. A very interesting article and well put together, with lots of information and facts that took time to research. I must say, I do really enjoy reading these articles. Very interesting reading about these clubs and their journey back to the football league. The National League is one of the hardest, if not the hardest league to get out of. The standard is very high and as we have seen, teams that get relegated from League 2 certainly don't get a pass for making an immediate return from the National League. As we have seen, some clubs do very well in league 2 once promoted, Wrexham & Notts are challenging for promotion this season after being promoted from the National League last season. I do believe that there should be 3 up 3 down between League 2 and the National League, which would increase competition even more in those leagues.
  8. These crucial games keep coming, & this is definitely very crucial. Gillingham have been there and there about all season after a very good start. Like Notts they have had their sticky patches, but they are very dangerous & must not be underestimated. Although it ended in defeat in our last away match against Mansfield, there were some very encouraging signs, that the changes that Stuart is overseeing are working. Notts are looking more solid in defence & hope for it to continue on Friday evening. I expect there won't be any changes to the side that started at Mansfield. Notts need to be patient because we will probably have most of the play, but we must not get overly exposed at the back, that means Notts need to be alert to the dangers when Gillingham break, & Notts need to be switched on straight away. Early goals are costing us dear. If Notts can do all those things we could get a clean sheet on Friday. I'm predicting a tough match and a hard earned 2:1 win.
