  1. Great blog and very interesting read, thanks @Scottpie
  2. I've been watching Notts for over 50 years and like you have seen ups and downs in that time, for me being a Notts supporter is a way of life, a habit I suppose, it's just something that seems to have always been there since I was very young, I can't see me ever not being a Notts supporter. When I am not at the match I am desperately trying to find the latest score on my phone or whatever means I can, I hate the summer when we aren't playing and there isn't much going on at the club.
  3. Blooming eck @Super_Ram you are a veritable mine of information, well done mate.

Thanks Joe, interesting comments from the Chelsea fans.
  5. This is our final table - aside from our special guest's. All was written before the first game of the season and this one features our Tony Hateley's prediction. Much like the one's before we see similar teams included in the relegation zone, with the addition of Tranmere Rovers. We also see Leyton Orient included in the play-offs, a surprising gamble for me and one which after today's result seems one likely we will have to watch out for. We here at Pride of Nottingham hope you enjoyed this development and series of features, why not compare the tables? Let us know your thoughts! 1. Wolves 2. Sheff Utd ------------------------------------ 3. Peterborough 4. Bristol City 5. Gillingham 6. Leyton Orient ------------------------------------ 7. MK Dons 8. Port Vale 9. Crawley 10. Bradford City 11. Notts County 12. Coventry 13. Swindon 14. Walsall 15. Preston NE 16. Crewe Alexandra 17. Brentford 18. Colchester 19. Rotherham 20. Oldham ------------------------------------ 21. Shrewsbury 22. Tranmere 23. Carlisle 24. Stevenage Please keep tuned for our special Guest! Compare | Notts-Joe - WeymouthPIE - ncfcdrapes - Joe Jones - Super Ram - Special Guest
  6. Good report Joe thanks for taking the time to write it, just one thing when you mention Notts equalising goal you don't say that Showumni scored it. Here's the paragraph "The Blades would come to regret those missed chances, because Notts equalised in spectacular fashion. Just two minutes after taking the field in the place of Yoann Arquin, a stray ball fall to him, and lashed it into the bottom corner from over 25 yards out. An absolute beast of a strike, which surprised everybody."
  7. Interestingly there are not a lot of transfer fees being paid in our league. Thanks Joe and Dan.
  8. An enjoyable read Weymouth, thanks for taking the time to write it.
  9. Enjoyable read Joe, thanks.
  10. Thanks Joe that will prove useful to new members in particular it can be quite daunting using a new forum when you aren't used to it.
  11. Thanks Mr. Trew, as usual your comments are very honest, we appreciate you taking the time to visit us here on PoN.
  12. Great write up Joe, congratulations to everyone who took part I can't wait to see Jimmy and Jacks statue at the Lane.
  13. I've just caught up with this it's a great article Super Ram, very informative, thanks for taking the time to write these. @notts-joe I love the picture of our cup winning team, it seems moustaches were popular in those days.
  14. What a lovely story, it's great to get the kids involved with Notts and making it a true family club, I am hoping to take my grandson to some matches next season although he is not one to sit still for very long. Hopefully one day he will become interested enough to feature in one of these articles about Junior Magpies. He has learnt the wheelbarrow song (not hard) although he has never been to a match. P.S. Well done Mike Edwards what a great bloke, I wish he'd have stayed at Notts.
  15. Hi Super Ram I am enjoying these articles keep them coming, it's very interesting to read the history of the game. Perhaps we should go back to the days when in one half we play with our rules in the other half play with opposition rules. Just don't tell them that our rules include a opposition goal which stretches the width of the pitch and then change it normal at half time.

    The Future

Well written and interesting article, I particularly like the phrase "Conversely, we can neither expect more investment from the top, something Trew has ruled out more times than a monorail." That made me laugh. Thanks James
  17. Thanks to Lynn for giving us an insight into Lifeline, as a member of many years I can heartily recommend it to anyone who has the interests of the club at heart, forget the National Lottery YOU WON'T WIN THAT but you might win Lifeline and at the same time you will be helping the club you love. You know it makes sense, join today.
  18. I recommend anyone who has the club's interests at heart to join Lifeline, forget the National Lottery you are never going to win that, join Lifeline and help the club you love and at the same time have a chance to win something yourself.
  19. When I was younger me and my mate used to practice corners down the Trent Embankment near where we lived. I always remember telling him to "stick it on my Hateley" so I could pretend to be Tony and power it into the net with my head. Also remember singing "Have we told you lately Hateley that we love you" at the Lane.
  20. My all time favourite player, as you can tell from my username. Thanks for this brilliant write up, I can remember when Big Tone "came back home", what an atmosphere there was at Meadow Lane that day against Northampton, 21,000 in the fourth tier! What we'd give for half that attendance now.
  21. An interesting read, thanks Super Ram. I wonder what those people who played mob football would think if they saw the premiership players of today. Looking forward to the next instalment.

    PoN on One - #3

When Joe asked me to take part I told him my memory was rubbish and I would probably disgrace myself, I was right. Lol. I enjoyed taking part though, I look forward to a bit of a ribbing from Magpiejue at the next home game.
  23. Sorry to hear you were disheartened after the fans forum Joe. If that is the case with other fans also then it is a shame because it is an opportunity lost by the club to galavanise the fans and to give them hope for next season and maybe even encourage them to buy season tickets. I remember going to a fans forum a few years back and I came back feeling great and full of hope for the future, that's how it should be.
