  1. Kiwomya happy with County reply

<!--url{0}-->Chris Kiwomya revealed he had to have stern words with his Notts County players at half-time after a lacklustre first half against Crewe.

But the Magpies' caretaker manager was pleased with the second-half response - and his new loan signing.

The visitors dominated the opening 45 minutes with a composed display but were left to rue not making the most of it.

The only goal in the first-half came late on from Alex skipper Luke Murphy who scored from the penalty spot after Gavin Mahon had tripped Ajay Leitch-Smith inside the box.

However, the hosts were revitalised in the second period and levelled through on-loan Manchester United striker John Cofie, making his debut, with a terrific 20-yard finish.

Kiwomya said: "It was a game of two halves really. First half we stood off them and got overloaded at the back and it was an easy game.

"I said to them at half-time, 'why are you standing off them?' They were coming 25 yards into our half and we were still standing off them so I told them not to be scared of them and we made a tactical change and it helped the team.

"The lads stuck with it and we were so close to getting the three points in the end. It was a great finish by John Cofie to equalise and I thought he worked tirelessly. We needed something and I had heard good things about him and it showed out there.

"I'm pleased with a point. I thought we played well second half and bossed the game. They are a good team and I thought in the end there was only one team going to win it."
  2. A week ago Notts were looking to gain 3 points  away to bottom club Hartlepool. They lost and subsequently Keith Curle was dismissed but the bad run continued against Stevenage. All this makes Saturdays match vital to kick start your season.A win would go a long way to restoring fans faith,a draw would also be acceptable, another defeat doesn't bear thinking about.I personally think you are due a slice of good luck and if the stand in manager can get the team concentrating right from the kick off and give the forwards some 'shooting boots' think you could sneak a win.

  3. can anyone tell me when it closes? hope we get a replacement manager before its does. could be very important to getting on with the sesson now

  4. I would start Notts with this formation on Saturday against

    4b65e328f87c46e3f7d7a60c3b30bbdf.png
Crewe. I'd ideally have 4 defenders and I would make sure to instruct them to get tighter, man up to the opposition and make sure they tried to force them into the centre of the park. (rather than into the flanks) We seem to allow them to pass through easily when we do. I'd have Liddle and Boucaud in midfield, with Judge playing an advanced role in which he can offer support to them when required. I'd get our left & right back(s) to go advanced when possible to provide crosses or support our attack but I wouldn't want them to always be up there. Jeff Hughes behind our Striker (playing in a forward/wing role) same with Zoko. Arquin would be my first choice but he would have to play his part.

My preference with this formation would be to make sure we control the game, it would provide us width but at times when needed we could be narrow. Instead of attacking solely down the flanks I would make use of the center of the park.

Obviously I left out Jamal Campbell-Ryce. I feel he would provide good cover if I needed to inject pace or just trickery. He could replace either Hughes or Zoko but could even drop into Alan Judges position so this would be fairly flexible.

Although it only features one true striker the options of being supported by the two advanced wing/forwards would allow this to change as and when suited.

    What formation would you play?

  5. Looking at the forecast for the next few days and heavy snow is expected Friday, I can't see the game being on even if it doesn't snow temperatures aren't expected to reach much above freezing so the pitch will be unplayable.

Poor Ray must be tearing his hair out, Sheffield Utd would have attracted a big crowd for a Saturday, cash flow must be getting to be a bit of a problem with all these postponements. Lets hope we get to see some football soon.

  6. with keith curles departure this will be an interesting one. it's never anything different tho!

i have a good feel about this so hope we play well

  7. Fabian Spiess is another of our own youth team products coming through the

    fabianspiess.png
ranks here at Notts County. Born in Germany he was spotted and signed our youth system.

Spiess made his professional debut on the final day of the 2011.12 season, replacing former stopper Stuart Nelson between the sticks.

He came on as a substitute when no.1 Bart Bialkowski was injured during a game against Leyton Orient.

The young keeper made a number fine saves despite being beat twice during the game. He followed up with an impressive first start debut and kept a clean sheet as we beat struggling Portsmouth. Young Fabian Spiess than again started against Hartlepool United where he again played very well despite seeing a further two goals scored past him.

A young very exciting prospect who is a joy to watch. He really manages to remain calm and collected which gives a safe feeling. He's personally a keeper I see being a strong contender for our no.1 jersey which will have to see us fight of interest from top Premier League sides such as both Manchester United/City and Arsenal.

This thread is to discuss Fabian Spiess's progress so if you have something to share about him please post it here.

Please vote for the member whom you feel deserves the prize, it's very tough and even I struggled to determine a fair list which is why we have increased the amount of candidates to 8.

Note; I don't expect anybody will but please don't vote for yourself. (This would forfeit the contestant from the main prize and the raffles) :P

    Happy voting and good luck!

  9. Liam Mitchell is one of our own youth team products coming through the ranks

    liammitchell.png
here at Notts County. A local lad who as played for Notts during our cup clash again Rotherham United.

I personally rate him, although I will openly admit to thinking Fabian is a much better prospect. None the less it is nice to see us having two reliable youngsters in our ranks. I personally hope to see him gain more league experience at some point as I think this would benefit his devolopement.

He has a bright future where ever this may be. It would be nice for a youth team player to break into the first team and cement a starting position and in many ways it's easier for a keeper. Will Liam be our future number one?

This thread is to discuss Liam Mitchell progress, so if you have something to share about him please post it here.

  10. Every 3 months I'll post a thread update exactly like this, so the community and visitors can see exactly how we are doing in terms of progressing. We're a very small fish, in a great big pond and the site will no doubt have to win over people as they visit but this comes with becoming established. I'm very happy with how it's going :)

  11. Keith Curle: Notts County wants Championship striker

<!--url{0}--> Notts County manager Keith Curle says he wants value for money as he bids for a Championship quality striker on transfer deadline day.

The Magpies missed out on former Ipswich Town forward Jason Scotland, who instead joined Barnsley last week.

But Curle told BBC Nottingham that he is still hopeful of making a bargain price addition to his squad.

"That shows the type of quality we want to bring in - we want a player with Championship ability," Curle said.

"We were hopeful of getting Jason Scotland, but unfortunately the finances were not correct for both parties and he has gone to Barnsley and scored his first goal in the Championship to help them out."

Magpies chairman Ray Trew has agreed to invest more money despite posting on a fans' messageboard earlier this month that he could not spend more to back their League One promotion push because of salary restrictions.

"At the minute it is not about the amount of money, but about the availability of the money," Curle said.

"I had a conversation with Ray and he said to identify the targets and give them to Jim (chief executive Jim Rodwell) and if there is a financial deal that can be done that fits in the salary, then we will try to do everything to sign them.

"We are mindful when someone is prepared to put their hand in their pocket to give you the money that you are striving for, we are not going to waste it."

Its good that Curle wants a championship striker, it also shows that Joe was right for writing the article regarding Jason Scotland (Its a shame that finances were not correct for both parties). Its also a positive that we're not trying to waste money.

  12. If you was the manager of any nation, who would start in your all time x11.

I'll choose England (Yours can be same)

                              Gordon Banks
Phil Neal Tony Adams Terry Butcher Stuart Pearce
David Beckham Bobby Charlton Paul Scholes Trevor Brooking
                      Alan Shearer  Kevin Hector

    Subs;
    David Seaman
    Lee Dixon
    Paul Merson
    Gary Lineker
    Ian Wright

(Yes I grew up really liking Arsenal, as TV hardly had Notts on and i'd watch football at any given chance)

  13. Okay, so if you was you choose songs based on their message or by title which you could related to Notts County. (our for our resident opposition fans their team) What would your 10 tracks be?

    1. Don't Stop Believin' - Journey (Ever so important for any fan)
    2. Sunchyme - Dario G (Just very upbeat sound, positive energy)
    3. Eye of the Tiger - Survivor (Just for the hell of it, who wouldn't?)
    4. The Upwards War and the Down Turned Cycle - Less than Jake (Reminds so much of some Notts fans)
    5. Reason To Believe - Crowned King (Everyone needs a reason to believe)
    6. You Really Got Me - The Kinks (Another must, I thank Super Ram for this)
    7. Dare - Stan Bush (Classic transformers song from the cartoon movie, if I need to reflect on something this is the song I choose to remind me)
    8. Break My Stride - Matthew Wilder (Good times, bad times.. Nothing's going to slow me down - Gotta keep moving!)
    9. Jaded (These Years) - Mest (Another song that reminds me to reflect on life)
    10. Tubthumping (I get knocked down) - Chumbawamba (When I hear it, I think of our times at the bottom of league two)

Obviously there could be many more I could of added and I'm sure I missed some very good one's, this might not get many responses but for those who read please consider it. I'm sure there's songs which remind you Notts. County Notts County, County's The Name, Football's The Game

  14. I've thought: Why not have a thread where people can talk every day?

    One topic a day :D

Hi everybody, what are you going to do today? Matchday!

Will you go to the game?

I will listen to it on Magpie Player and work on Italian Mapies :D

  15. The following are the winners of the raffle Main Prize:

The Pride of Nottingham (Unofficial NCFC Fan Site) team would like to thank them.

  16. After the busy December period it has been nice to see the site back on the right tracks with promotion and many other things being a focus point. it's been nice to see the community taking shape, This month was a little more trickier for us as we have seen so many contributions to the community and I can honestly say I don't see this becoming easier in the future either which is a very good thing. I'd like to thank everyone for your help and contributions as all are appreciated.

We'd like to take the time to announce January's Member of the Month.

    Congratulations weymouthPie!

This month has seen James (weymouthPie) start a blog which is an excellent read, his posts within the community have also been very fair and insightful. James has put a lot of effort into his contributions making him stand out, although as mentioned this wasn't as easy but we feel weymouthPie is the deserved winner.

  17. Curle poised to bolster squad

<!--url{0}-->Notts County chairman Ray Trew has given Keith Curle the go-ahead to bolster his squad ahead of Thursday's transfer deadline.

Curle is keen to add to his attack after allowing veteran striker Lee Hughes to leave the club by mutual consent, and the Magpies manager has handed a list of targets to the money men at Meadow Lane.

"I've had a fantastic phone call from the chairman," Curle told the club's official website. "He basically told me 'tell me what you want, tell me what you need and I'll do my best to accommodate you if a financial package can be sorted out whereby we can fit it into the salary cost management'.

"There's a little bit of movement there and we've just got to get the right player in at the right cost.

"I gave the chairman seven potential targets that I think would suit the way we play and are also the quality of player that we're looking to bring to the football club.

"The difficulty now is going to be the finances, but when the chairman asks what you want, you give your top six or seven targets first of all.

"I know they're quite expensive ones but you get what you pay for."

This is gamble but I think Mr Trew has made the right call. It's now even more important that we try to get behind the club, I hate to sound like I am preaching but this could be a good thing but also something that could cause worse debit for us. I hope our fans will try to attend the games they can and by this I mean those who are staying away due to the poor performances. (the one's who on FB say they won't go until Curle has) We need unity more than ever!
  18. This will be an interesting game despite some expectations as I don't see this one being all that easy. Hartlepool might be at the bottom of the league but I expect them to be very much up for this one. I've been communicating with some of their fans who aren't looking forward to the game but as I said on one of their fan sites "Our sides might not be setting the world alight with performances but football is about clashes like ours and you never know you could end up taking all 3 points. It might not be glamorous game but disappointment is part of the footballing package. I remain upbeat about the game" It's all about looking forward to clashes like this and for me it's what Saturday's as a football fan is all about.

I'm just very happy that I won't be listening to this away day at home. :D

  19. Blackburn sign striker DJ Campbell from QPR

<!--url{0}-->DJ Campbell says he has left QPR and signed a two-and-a-half-year contract with Blackburn.

Campbell's future at Loftus Road has been the subject of speculation for some time after enjoying a successful spell on loan at Ipswich.

The 31-year-old scored 10 goals in a loan spell at Portman Road earlier this season and they were thought to be keen on bringing him back to the club.

Hull were then believed to be favourites to land Campbell after holding talks with the player earlier this week, but Blackburn have landed the former Blackpool star.

Rovers boss Michael Appleton wanted to bolster his attacking options with Jordan Rhodes needing some goalscoring support.

This is probably the best lineup for awhile that Blackburn has had in recent years with Leon Best, Jordan Rhodes, the aging Nuno Gomez, David Goodwillie and Colin Kazim-Richards.

Blackburn Rovers fans will be hoping that this can be the start to their season after a disappointing period and the boost of Campbell will mean they're not short of attacking options now
  20. Paolo Di Canio aware of Swindon Town issues - chairman Patey

Swindon chairman Sir William Patey tells BBC Wiltshire that manager Paolo Di Canio is "aware" of their financial situation and knows there is no money to spend on new signings.

Patey confirmed on Thursday that Town were looking for new investors as owner Andrew Black is unwilling to put any more money in to the League One club.

    Another bbc article

its not looking good for them, in fact pretty grim. sorry Joe I don't know how to display them like you do.

  21. current forecast doesnt seem good but hopefully it will go ahead. notts need to try to show character now which on a good day would see us take all 3 points.

i wouldnt say this is a easy game

  22. Mario Balotelli: AC Milan agree deal to sign Manchester City striker

<!--url{0}--> AC Milan have agreed a deal to sign Manchester City striker Mario Balotelli on a four-and-a-half-year contract, the Italian club's director Umberto Gandini has confirmed.

Former Inter Milan striker Balotelli, 22, will have a medical in Milan on Wednesday before signing his contract.

An initial fee of 22m euros (£19m) is believed to have been paid, rising to 25m euros (£22m) with add-ons.

Manchester City have declined to comment on the news.

The Italy international had travelled with City to London for the Premier League game against Queens Park Rangers on Tuesday evening, when manager Roberto Mancini is likely to comment on the deal.

Gandini said on Twitter: "Transfer agreement for Balotelli signed with Manchester City. Medical is tomorrow [Wednesday] in Milan, then personal terms until 2017 will be signed."

Manchester City signed Balotelli for £24m in 2010 with the striker scoring 20 Premier League goals for the club.

Balotelli's departure comes weeks after he was involved in a training ground altercation with Mancini.

That was the last in a series of controversies during his time with the Premier League champions.

Shortly after signing he made the headlines for crashing his car and in March 2011 he was said to have thrown a dart at a Manchester City youth-team player.

In July that year he angered Mancini during a pre-season friendly against Los Angeles Galaxy when he nonchalantly back-heeled wide when through on goal.

He set off a firework inside his home in October and two months later he was involved in a training ground bust-up with team-mate Micah Richards.

This season Balotelli made 20 appearances for City, 12 of those from the bench, scoring three goals.

Manchester United fans will be in unity over this! 20 Million is an insane figure for him, many people around Manchester felt this when City first paid for him but at least then he came with promising signs. One Premiership player many will no miss!!
