  1. NOTTS County are ready to splash some of their FA Cup cash on Andre Boucaud.

The Magpies banked around £40,000 from their 2-0 first round win at League One rivalsicon1.pngPortsmouth and boss Keith Curle is going to be given all of it by chairman Ray Trew to spend in the transfer market.

What do you think Joe? I've loosely been following you guys and from what I hear he's been a solid loanee. Rumours floating around that Luton will not extend his loan and are forcing your hands into making the signing. Will he add the quality you need in the end to mount a challenge for a championship place?

  2. I've just found time to watch all Hughsey's goals on Magpieplayer and what a pleasure it was, it made me realise how good he is and how much we are going to miss him. I think he is my favourite player after.............well Tony Hateley of course. :D

If and when Notts sign a replacement for him they are going to have a hard job because the fans will naturally compare them to Hughesy.

I've read the poem many times, not once do I get the feeling I get from watching and listening. I'm very proud that I did a good job here, more so for the huge pat on my back. The support from the fans who have seen this, well It's amazing. It's not going to change anything but it picks me up, as it does with some others. (hopefully more)

  4. I haven't really heard anything yet and was wondering if there is any news on our transfer interests?

I'm really hoping we make some good ones as a few fresh faces in the squad would be fab! I'm also hoping we don't let a few names go, but we will have to see!!

Also, who are on all of your wishlists for NCFC for January 2013?

  5. Anyone know the latest on Hughesy, are Port Vale going to come in for him again or now he is being played a bit more will he want to stay?

I for one hope he stays, there is life in the old dog yet.

  6. Nott'm Forest 2 - 3 Oldham Athletic

_65093686_oldhamgetty.jpg By Owen Phillips BBC Sport at the City Ground

League One strugglers Oldham Athletic produced a stunning second-half fightback to dump Championship side Nottingham Forest out of the FA Cup.

Matt Smith turned the ball into his own net to gift Forest a first-half lead.

But Robbie Simpson followed up a brilliant 25-yard strike with a deft header to make it 2-1 to the Latics.

And Jose Baxter's stunning free-kick, after Danny Collins was sent off, earned a sensational win despite Billy Sharp's late strike.

  7. Colin Lee interested in Plymouth Argyle manager job

_65053817_colin_lee_empics.jpg By Brent Pilnick BBC South West Sport

Former Wolves and Walsall boss Colin Lee says he would be interested in the vacant Plymouth Argyle manager's job.

Lee, 56, is currently first team coach at Notts County and has strong links to Devon having previously played for and managed Torquay United.

"If Plymouth Argyle want to talk to me they will have to go through Notts County as I am contracted to them," Lee told BBC South West Sport.

"I'm not going to lie, it would be something I would be interested in."

Devon-born Lee has experience of keeping sides in trouble up in their division, having taken over at Walsall in January 2002 when they were in the relegation places of the old First Division.

He also helped Torquay to stave off relegation from the Football League in 2007 when he was appointed as director of football alongside Keith Curle, who he now assists at County.

Argyle are two points away from the bottom of League Two and sacked manager Carl Fletcher on New Year's Day after losing 2-1 at fellow strugglers Bristol Rovers.

"It's a job that I've experienced before, I've been able to help teams in this situation before and my CV would show that.

"I took over at Walsall when they were adrift at the bottom and we stayed up and we did the same thing the following year.

"I saved Torquay in the last 10 games and I still get texts form the lads that did that.

"You've got to be able to know what you're doing when you go in to give the club the best chance.

"I keep a close eye on all the Devon teams and none of them are massively wealthy so they're not going to have hundred of thousands of pounds to spend.

"But you've got to have a plan and if you go in with a clear plan of what you're doing then you've got every chance."
  8. I'm a huge fan of heroes, though they changed the time after season/series 1 which made it even more difficult for me to watch.

Maybe during my holiday I'll watch the dvd box sets of the first two seasons/series. A-side from that I like simpsons, family guy. one I can't name, where two brothers fight demons.. what's it called :dodgy:

Match of the day, plus my now beloved "the football league show"

  9. For some of our fans this will no doubt be the same game but for me it's not that simple. There's many games in which I have to battle with to determine which is exactly my favourite and best experience. As a young fan, I attended games with my grandfather who was a proud nottighamshire man. I have him to thank for introducing me to the mighty magpies.

    My favourite game;

    Notts County vs Ascoli

I have to admit, the finals we made would always be up there. It was a special feeling and it felt much more important than that of a throphy which was dying in terms of interest. If this game wasn't, the cloest would be the play-off final we made and that would be for a very similar reason to this.

Amazing atmosphere, you simply cannot beat a trip to the old wembley.

    Best Experience

Nottm Forest vs Notts County (League Cup 2011)

This is a funny one for me, as it's the first 'real' derby game between forest that I've actually attended. It's also a game I went without my Wife and Daughters (Though if forest did permit my youngest two they would of been there with us) My son was very excited, we actually went down with plenty of time as I was concerned by the rioting but this wouldn't of put me off regardless. It felt like a final! We was in cloud nine, I couldn't watch the penalty shoot out. It's much harder to witness in person! the time's I said it's nothing to bother about when England had to face them but this was much more than pride at stake.

So what was yours? feel free to share.

  11. Mario Balotelli & Roberto Mancini in 'training ground bust-up'

_65058579_mancini1.jpg Manchester City striker Mario Balotelli appears to have been involved in a training ground bust-up with manager Roberto Mancini.

A picture agency has released photographs it says were taken on Thursday morning of the pair having to be separated by staff and team-mates at Carrington training ground.

    City have declined to comment.

Mancini is expected to answer questions about the incident at his news conference on Friday morning.

"It's believed Mancini reacted to a challenge from Balotelli on one of his team-mates," said BBC radio 5 live senior football reporter Ian Dennis.

"In one of the photos Mancini is seen to be pulling at Balotelli's orange bib, and in another photo Balotelli is being restrained.

"I'm led to believe the incident blew over very quickly and with that in mind the photos do need to be put into some sort of context because super-fast frames can show the spat but don't necessarily provide a true reflection of any time period.

"However, it doesn't reflect well on the champions, it ensures Balotelli will create headlines yet again, and Mancini will be quizzed about his relationship with the player at tomorrow's press conference."

Archive: Mario Balotelli's super goal for Italy at Euro 2012

The pictures appear to show Mancini shouting and gesticulating towards Balotelli, who has scored three goals in 21 appearances this season.

One photograph shows the pair face to face with Mancini pulling Balotelli's training bib, while in another, the striker appears to be pulled away by a member of staff.

The 22-year-old Italian has been involved in a series of controversies since his £24m move from Inter Milan in August 2010.

In December, Balotelli was set to take City to a tribunal over a two-week fine for missing 12 games last season because of suspensions.

He later dropped the action and accepted the punishment, prompting Mancini to say he was willing to give the striker another chance.

In November, Mancini said he had no intention of selling the player despite his tempestuous relationship with his fellow Italian.

Last season, Balotelli scored 17 goals in all competitions for City but was sent off twice.

After his red card against Arsenal in April, Mancini cast doubt over Balotelli's future at the club saying he didn't "have any words for his behaviour".

Mancini has often talked about the challenges of managing the player he says could be one of the best in the world .

In April, the City manager joked he might have punched Balotelli in the head every day if he were his team-mate.

He said: "I don't speak with him every day, otherwise I would need a psychologist, but I speak with him because I don't want him to lose his quality."

But Mancini has also stated that Balotelli's behaviour on and off the pitch is blown out of proportion , saying "every time Mario does something, [it] is like a war".

This is not the first time the City manager has fallen out with one of his players.

He saw Carlos Tevez return home to Argentina following a row during the 2-1 defeat at Bayern Munich in September 2011.

Mancini claimed the striker failed to warm up and insisted Tevez would never play for the club again, while the forward complained of being treated "like a dog".

But the relationship was repaired and the forward returned to action in February 2012 and helped City win the Premier League title.

  13. Announced on Notts official website today:

Striker Chris Iwelumo has returned to Watford at the end of his short-term deal which saw him join the club on the last day of the Loan window.

Defenders Tom Williams and Carl Regan have been released

Both Damion and Jordan Stewart have been offered new deals

Talks with Luton Town regarding Midfielder Andre Boucaud are on-going.

Only thing that surprises me is the release of Carl Regan, he wasent as bad as others made out i didnt think.

I know there are better players out there but better players wont be happy to sit on the bench waiting for Kelly to be injured or suspended.

Think we need another RB as cover for Kelly, a striker (preferably not some old man who's lost it) and perhaps more importantly, we NEED to offer Alan Judge a new deal. If we can do that and get Boucaud on a permanent basis I'd be reasonably happy :)

  14. Alan Judge has been a key talking point recently regarding leaving Notts to move on to Championship sides which have shown clear interest in our attacking minded midfielder.

Judgey told magpie player that he would like to stay at Notts and that he is still waiting to renew his contract here. However unofficial sources have claimed that there has been interest in Alan from many teams, some Premier League. This has left much room for speculation as a player of his quality, with an expiring contract would make a great transfer for a Championship side.

Its without a doubt that Notts would miss Judgey if he moved on, but what are other fans thoughts on the matter?

  15. Well thats me not going any matches for a very long time as curle trew or that muppet rodwell is let lee hughes go port vale on loan looking like permanent deal tho

  16. Keith Curle as mentioned since our FA cup exit, that he will addressing our weaknesses but this means it may be a case of, one player in, one player out. Would you like to see Notts sign?

    Position;

    Attacker/Forward.... Jose Baxter

Would be a good prospect if we could prize him away from Oldham, yet this would require a fee so it's not realistic but I can dream.

    Position;

    Attacker/Winger..... Stephen Elliott

I personally highly rate him, his form may of taken a dip but he's always a player that can provide given the chance. I have City friends who say he's been unsettled awhile, who also rate him.

    Position;

    Defender.... Luke Shaw

Highly rated young defender, who we may be able to get in on loan. Most won't probably know who he is but he seems to have a very bright future.

  17. I'm spartan online, I enjoy watching and playing football.

  18. hello

im liam, noticed a msg of yours on twitter. nice site. really like it. just a simple hello.

  19. Did Andre Boucaud play his final game for Notts today? Not really up to date with the whole thing! All I know is Luton only let him train with the youth team and now they want him back.

Anyone know any more on the whole saga?

    - Ben

  20. A tough start to 2013 for Notts.

I'm unsure about MK Dons, They can be very hit and miss but no doubt it will be a challenge. I really hope we start the new year with a bang, as a good run could see us laugh about what happened with regards to our home form. I notice still, comments about Curle needing to go if we don't win. I think it would be harsh, I very much hope we stand by him.

Will post my starting line up tomorrow, with a brave prediction of the score.

    Happy New Year! COYP!!

  21. From SkySports:

"Tomlin is out of contract at Roots Hall in the summer and the Shrimpers' financial situation could prompt them to part ways with the frontman.

The 29-year-old has scored 14 goals in all competitions for the League Two club this season, netting a double in the 3-0 win at his old club Dagenham and Redbridge on Boxing Day.

Swindon, Notts County and Stevenage are all believed to be interested in the striker, who signed at Southend from Dagenham on a one-year deal in the summer."

    Looks Decent!

  22. http://www.nottscountyfc.co.uk/news/article/iwelumo-returns-to-watford-575399.aspx

The experienced striker, 34, arrived at Meadow Lane on loan transfer deadline day from Championship Watford.

Iwelumo started all five of the Magpies’ league games during his stay but has now returned to his parent club, following the expiration of his loan deal on New Year’s Day.

The club would like to thank Chris for his efforts in the black and white stripes.

  23. I really would like to see Enoch Showunmi get a start. A large proportion of Notts fans seem to hate him even though he hasn't had a real chance to show us what he can do. He's made a total of 3 starts for us which for a number 9 striker is quite frankly disappointing. He comes on as a sub, puts in a whole lot of effort, wins the ball, creates chances but doesn't seem to have enough match time to settle into the team. I know we have a lot of strikers but Showunmi is always the one who seems to be left out of the picture by fans and Keith Curle.

    Role on next game,

    Ben

  24. Alex McLeish has been appointed the new manager of Nottingham Forest.

_64986802_mcleish.jpg Alex McLeish has been appointed the new manager of Nottingham Forest.

The former Aston Villa, Birmingham City and Scotland boss replaces Sean O'Driscoll, who was sacked on 26 December after five months in charge.

"I believe he's the man who can help us fulfil our ambition of making it to the Premier League," said Forest chairman Fawaz Al Hasawi.

McLeish said: "The fact a club of Forest's magnitude has offered me a job excites me greatly."

The Scot, 53, has been out of football since being sacked by Villa at the end of last season after 11 months at the helm.

"I've had time away from the game and now feel refreshed and ready to go," he added.

"I can't wait to get started and I'm looking forward to meeting the players, talking to them and taking my first training session."

A statement on Forest's website said: "The 53-year-old Scot will begin work at the City Ground tomorrow (Friday) and will be in charge for Saturday's home game against Crystal Palace."

McLeish takes over Forest with them in eighth place, having collected 36 points from 24 games.

"I'm delighted to welcome Alex to our Club and look forward to working with him," added Al Hasawi.

"Alex took Birmingham to promotion from the Championship and has great experience of working in the Premier League."

Forest will hold a news conference on Friday to officially unveil McLeish as their new manager.

O'Driscoll, 55, was relieved of his duties hours after a 4-2 Championship win against Leeds.

Al Hasawi later added on his Twitter account: "Made contact with PL manager tonight. Meeting Thursday."

He had earlier declared that Forest would be "looking to bring in an ambitious manager with Premier League experience", stating that "with the January transfer window approaching, we feel it's the right time to make a change".

Quite a few of my friends on Facebook are up in arms with this, I personally don't see how it makes sense but will add spice in January. I doubt very much that they will spend much money, I bet they'll sign loans but nobody knows what's going on there. It's a strange time for them!
