Notts County's midfield maestro, Dan Crowley, radiated optimism as he opened up about the team's staggering performance that has catapulted them to the top of the league.
Filled with exhilaration linked to their unassailable run. He expressed his excitement about the team’s current position at the top of the league and their performance so far this season. “It’s all going rather well at the moment, isn’t it? City is top of the league, and we do enjoy this stop to the season so far. Yeah, it’s brilliant,” he said.
Crowley attributes the team’s success to the quality of the players and the coaching staff. “To be honest, I’m not surprised by where we’re at in the league. I’m just seeing the quality of the lads and how we’re coached, and yeah, it doesn’t surprise me, to be honest, which is a really good feeling,” he said.
The midfielder also spoke about how he has had to adapt to fit into the team’s style of play. “I think, yeah, and no because you kind of have to fit into them because they’ve done so well, and that respect for them and what they’ve done in the past,” he said. He also mentioned how he has had to humble himself and trust in the process of learning from the coaching staff. “It was great and easy because everyone’s such nice people and really helpful, and there’s such a great set of lads. But it was a lot to get my head around at the start, just the details and just trusting the process and listening and focusing,” he said.
Crowley also spoke about how he has adapted to the detailed approach of the coaching staff. “I’m definitely getting used to it. It was brilliant because I’ve had a lot of lazy coaches, and to be with a gaffer and assistant like Ryan, where they’re so invested in the detail of how we want to play, it was just a breath of fresh air,” he said. He also mentioned how much he enjoys playing with quality teammates like Jodi Jones. “I know it’s brilliant to have a player like Jodi in this team. It’s really unbelievable, and it’s like that with all the players,” he said.
In discussing his role in scoring headers for Notts County, the focus was on the importance of positioning. “That’s another part of the detail, just getting in the right position. When you’ve got players like Jodi on the left and Azra [Aaron Nemane] on the right, we just know that they’re going to put amazing balls in, so we have to be on the end of them,” he explained.
Dan Crowley is confident in Notts County’s success due to their quality players and coaching staff. He has adapted well to their detailed approach and is enjoying playing with his talented teammates.
