Such a cool 'old school' styled stand.

The arched middle part, at least, inspired the rebuild of Meadow Lane. That's such an iconic part of the Meadow Lane stadium that it wouldn't look right if it hadn't been. I also find it fascinating that it was delivered by floating it over the River Trent in 1910. I just couldn't imagine a stadium being dismantled and transported like that.

I remember that stand very well, it was literally a stand, i.e. no seats, when the team weren’t playing well a slow handclap would start and people stamping their feet in time, it would echo in the stand and be quite impressive.

I was sorry to see it go, but it had definitely had its day.

To be honest, I do miss the standing areas, but for me the new standing areas at grounds are just not the same as the open terracing that we used to stand on.

Meadow Lane has always been a fantastic spot for fans. The older stands might look a bit unsafe, but in their heyday, they would have been incredible to see filled to capacity. The changes were necessary, but at least the club modernised and improved the ground in the 90s.

I recall the sounds the old stands would make, particularly in windy or rainy conditions. The fans were packed tightly, which helped with warmth, but the lack of toilets could make it a bit unpleasant on warm days when fans would retreat to the back of the stands. I was quite fond of the earlier version of Meadow Lane, such a striking and iconic ground. Derek Pavis did well by not straying too far from it.

Gotta love a bit of Notts history, especially to a new fan like me, makes it that much more interesting.

Even after supporting Notts for a considerable period, you continue to discover new things. I believe the club’s history is something that truly stands out. It’s heartening to see it being commemorated.
