Ryley Reynolds on loan to Kidderminster

Featured Replies

Very happy with this move, Kiddy are currently in second so if he can get regular game time with them, then he is not that far away from our 1st XI.

Hoping he really kicks on from here, it seems a long time since we had a young player come through the ranks and make an impact.

If he does well over the next month, Kidderminster may want to extend his loan period till the end of the season.

Ideally, I think that would be the best thing to happen for Ryley's development. Getting game time at National league level can only do him goodΒ

Good decision, he needs game time at this stage of his career and we've got a lot of competition in midfield this season. He sounds very promising by all accounts. Hope he manages to kick on and put himself in contention for a first 11 spot with us.

This is a very sensible decision, one which I hope Ryley Reynolds benefits from.

Sometimes, I feel Notts loan out players to teams just for the sake of it. There was a time we would feed local clubs, and where at the time it seemed to make some sense in hindsight it's more related to the club doing said team a favour, or due to limited options. There's no point sending a youngster out to a much lower team, even if they do play regularly and whilst they may attract interest after this - that is the only benefit. The way I see it, we tend to loan players too far down, then fail to get them integrated into the first team. Follow-up loans tend to see them returning to the same team, then they end up being released down the line.

I am optimistic that this loan will enable Reynolds to be extended beyond just one month, giving him further valuable game time.

If he finds his feet, and does well. Then it will show Notts that he's capable and ensuring that he remains on loan would be beneficial. I just hope he doesn't end up being loaned to multiple teams this season. I am not sure about the limits involved, but you want youngsters to be settled, and whilst they might not care about leaving one environment for another. It tends to be a pattern that continues beyond that initial loan spell.

Both Ryley Reynolds and James Sanderson look like promising players who will only further improve based around who they are playing alongside, and what opportunities they are given. I hope Stuart Maynard will be the first Notts manager in a long time to realise that our youth just need to play, and settle within the first team environment.Β

Some fans might dismiss young talent, especially earlier on, but I have said before, our youngsters need to be hitting 5–10 appearances when considered ready. Then the following season, you aim to expose them to more football. As fans, we can pass our thoughts regarding youngsters, but players develop at different times. There's much more that goes into someone reaching their potential.

Smart clubs will figure this out, as good facilities and coaching staff are just part of it.

First season: 1-5, second: 5-10 and third: 10-20.

If a manager truly believes in academy players, and first team members look out for them - then some will flourish. Obviously, not all youngsters can get time on the pitch, but the ones who do well should be pushed in a way that integrates them with the first team in my opinion.

Made his debut today and started. Some of their fans reckon he was MOTM (voted sponsors MOTM) and was all over the pitch in the 2nd half after taking half an hour or so to settle in.

Kiddy fans are already talking about trying to keep him until the end of the season, so it looks like we may finally have a real player coming through the ranks.

He’s kind of come out of nowhere, I hadn’t heard of him until he was involved a lot in pre-season and he fared pretty well. Then he’s continued to be in and around the first team this season, without really getting the chance. Playing in League 2 might be tad higher than he’s capable of right now so a move to Kidderminster seems perfect.

If he does well at Kidderminster he’ll have the chance to potentially stay longer, or even possibly move to a club in the National League. All looks quite promising for him at the minute.

this is why the move makes so much sense, because when a youngster will go out and play in a team looking for promotion. they give him minutes and the fans warm to them, then it encourages them and the confidence on the pitch seems to lift.

i think we have had good talent, just not pushed them or had the ability to get them the right types of loans.

@Chris made some very good points in his comments.

Maybe after the subdued performance against Salford and lack of creativity,Β  we should have brought Ryley back to playing for the first team. When he has played for us, he has shown drive,Β  speed and creativity, which we seem to be currently lacking.Β

Yep, it's much better for him to get lots of game time than the odd couple of minutes he'd likely get with us at the moment. He's in a team challenging for promotion, that will give him the added experience of playing under pressure too.
