We have parted company with Steve Cooper, who leaves his position as First Team Manager with immediate effect.

I thought it was a somewhat strange appointment when he arrived at Leicester, although I thought he was doing alright. Their fans never really seemed to take to him, mostly due to managing Forest.

Being a part of certain Foxes groups, I tend to see on Facebook a lot of complaints and I think Leicester City winning the Premier League has made a lot of their fans believe they are a much bigger team. What they did that season was incredible, but what was a united community seems to have led to self-edification and reflections of unfounded glory. There was a lot of talk that they were a top 6 team after gaining promotion. I always thought they would be fighting off relegation, I hope their next appointment is someone who can just return the stability they need to establish themselves as a Premier League team.

It's sad that he didn't last long but it is totally indicative of football at the moment.

If a manager isn't winning matches, their days are numbered, unless you are named Pep Guardiola of course.

Although five defeats on the bounce isn't a good look for Pep.

You couldn't make it up, but I'm not surprised.

I agree that there was always going to be a biggish section of Leicester fans who would be against Steve Cooper regardless as to how he performed. I'm not quite sure what the expectations were though, avoiding relegation would have been an absolutely fine outcome to this season. Their defence is poor and they are still over-reliant on Jamie Vardy, I think Steve Cooper was performing as expected.

Everton and maybe Wolves aside their isn't really a host of bad Premier League teams anymore. Relegation now is almost just a battle amongst the newly promoted sides, with one hoping to stay up.

Let's be honest, Leicester City fans would never have taken to Cooper with him having managed Forest. From the start, there was resistance. His tactical approach was intriguing, sure, but results just weren’t there, and the chemistry with the squad seemed off. It didn't help that the performances dwindled over time. He might have had some solid ideas, but football's a game of momentum and connection, and it just didn’t click here. It’s unfortunate it ended this way, but the club couldn’t afford to wait around. Now, they need someone who can reignite some genuine excitement.

I never expected this. Cooper seemed to have a lot of promise when he started, but the last few months have been disappointing. It’s hard to understand what went wrong.

ruud van nistelrooy? that would be a comical error if they appointed him. i cant see it being a better appointment. they should go for someone more used to managing a team in the premier league. i am surprised that graham potter has not been heavily connected but he would be a better option than van nistelrooy.

Graham Potter has been linked and is favourite according to BBC East Midlands Sport.
