I wonder who fans feel deserves to be named the new vice-captain now that Dan Crowley has left for the gloriously woeful MK Franchise? I propose David McGoldrick. I think he has led us through his experience and been much more of an influential player this season compared to last. We had a spell during this campaign where he alone changed the outcome of certain games, such as Swindon Town away earlier in the first part of 2024-25.

What about you and why?

Has the club announced who the new vice captain is? I would assume it's a safe bet that David McGoldrick would be the next in line.

The only other two candidates for me would be Jodi Jones, and then Curtis Edwards, but the latter hasn't been here long enough to warrant it IMO.

As far as I know there has been no official announcement.

I do know that David McGoldrick has filled in as Captain on occasions.

I would appoint David McGoldrick as Vice Captain. He leads by example, & he is such an example to the young players, with his hard work and determination.

Definitely David McGoldrick would make a great captain let alone vice captain, he has so much experience to impart especially to younger players, he’s a leader he’d be an ideal choice.

A bit like when we had Jim O'Brien, Didzy will be a leader regardless of whether he's wearing an armband or not. I'd have no issue if he got it and I get it makes total sense.

But I think you can potentially give a player a bit of a boost and added responsibilities if you give it to another player that perhaps isn't as influential yet. I agree with the shout about Jodi, I think all the players like and respect him but Platt would be my choice. He's vocal in the team, comes across as a positive and driven guy and at 27 has plenty of experience now.

We lack suitable candidates to be fair. Matty Platt or Jacob Bedeau could be future candidates, but not just yet. If Scott Robertson were fit and likely to feature more, I might be inclined to name him. However, I think if you look at experience and the influence players have, we have no one more suitable than David McGoldrick.
